Very good afternoon tea. Probably best in Cambridge, and great value at £29. Great that children very welcome and children’s afternoon tea option. Building and setting is stunning. Unfortunately service wasn’t great, staff were very nice, but it look 40 minutes to get our drinks and order was wrong twice before receiving right drinks. Also could have done with some (Christmas) music to improve the ambience in the library. But I would still definitely go back.

Afternoon tea at Parker’s Tavern was as splendid as a top London hotel. Beautiful location, peaceful ambience and perfect service. The food was delicious and well presented. Cambridge has desperately needed this level of afternoon tea provision and we finally have it. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

The venue is lovely but that’s about it. Afternoon tea was very over priced and we were then charged for tea as extra! I asked for cucumber sandwiches which looked like a three year old had prepared. Huge chunks of cucumber not peeled- zero love given. Will never go back here

I’ve had afternoon tea here before. Unfortunately on the last occasion the sandwiches were very poor . The bread was stale as if they had been made sometime ago . The bread was white and tasteless. The cakes were just ordinary despite the inviting descriptions A shame as they can do better given the price

I came with a reservation for afternoon tea, there were no waiter or waitresses around. I had to search all the place to find one and explain that I have reservation. Since I made the reservation via Opentable, the waitress told they were not aware of it and so not prepared for it. Any way they arranged something but it felt strange to find the service like this in such a new restaurant.

EXPENSIVE!!!
We paid £180 for afternoon tea for 4 plus 3 glasses of Prosecco. But they then added on £20 service charge which seems a little steep for me.
They originally sat us in the library which was full of people on laptops and we felt very conscious of talking as it was quiet. We asked to be moved into the bar area which had a much better atmosphere and background music.
The food overall was good with a couple of items just not my personal preference. Lovely sandwiches and savoury snacks, scones a little dry and the tart at the end should just be a small individual serving rather than a slice of a larger tart as it is quite rich and they bring it out at the end rather than serving with the other cakes.
We service was slow considering they were not that busy in a Thursday afternoon. We asked for 3 glasses of Prosecco that took 15 mins to arrive. Then we had to ask for more tea before anyone came over and asked how things were and if we needed anything else.
Value for money I give 3 stars as the service charge and slow service knocked it down for me.

While Emon clearly attended us to the best of his abilities, when my wife and I mentioned that the afternoon tea we were enjoying was part of our wedding anniversary celebration, he went the extra mile to arrange for a much appreciated festive extra. The entirety resulted in lovely pictures, which he initiated taking. Thank you so much for your warm-hearted contribution to our anniversary weekend!

We were a group of 9 and initially squeezed round a low level table with lounge chairs. We complained and were then moved to the restaurant. Six of us had a glass of champagne @ £12 per glass. We should have been offered a bottle to share which I’m sure would have been cheaper than £72. The food was nice but took a long tine to serve (we waited an hour). Tea was not served until we had finished our food, despite several reminders. The final element was served just as we were getting ready to leave (tart). A very disappointed local dining group - we will not go back.

We went to the afternoon tea with my family. The tavern has a really nice design, and the service was perfect. However, the food could have been a little bit better, comparing to some other afternoon teas I've been to. There was only one scone per person, and the top tier was extremely sweet, without too much taste.

I booked this as it came up as one of the best in Cambridge. Firstly there was no one at the reception desk to greet us so I went to concierge who sent us to the restaurant. The person in the restaurant the. Took us back to the reception desk to verify our booking, I showed her the OpenTable confirmation as she said they didn’t have our booking on their system. They did accommodate us though, there were quite a few empty tables.
We were sat down with no instruction or menu, the sofa was comfortable but too low for the table. We waited a while, no water on the table and finally we were asked what tea we wanted and we explained there was no menu for us to select. We were given a menu but the process wasn’t really explained to us on what was included. I ordered the vegetarian sandwiches and was told these would take a while as had to be made on request, when they arrived with the rest of the food which didn’t take long, the bread was hard and stale, very disappointing. The Brie sandwich had a chutney which overpowered the Brie and you couldn’t taste the cheese at all. The scones were very tasty but not enough jam or cream for two people or indeed two scones. The cakes were nice and tasty and then we were given the treacle tart to go home with in a giant box. Why was this disappointing? Service mainly, multiple different people asking us the same questions but not anywhere to be seen when needed. The food, sandwiches were pretty terrible and stale. Overall it was disappointing, especially as I’ve recently had afternoon tea in Edinburgh, London and Windsor recently and all have been incredible.

My son and I had a really lovely afternoon tea, the food was delicious and the staff attentative, my only complaint is that we were sat extremely close to a couple who were both on their phones so they could hear every single word we were saying, which was a bit uncomfortable. Perhaps the ambient music could be a little louder or staff could plan ahead a little more by spacing people out when it isn't busy.
Overall a lovely afternoon, thank you

Following a visit for afternoon tea with friends back in January, I found the food, on this occasion, on the whole was not as good. With regards to the sandwiches, the bread was dry as if they had been left in the open without covering. Having said that some of our party did not eat shellfish, the boat tartlets were filled with just chopped tomatoes, very uninspiring! Again, on my previous visit the scones were served after the savoury dishes and were a lot fresher. Notwithstanding the above, the experience was enjoyed by all and I trust my comments are constructive.

Floor rug was dangerous, the chair was to heavy to lift so had to slide taking the floor rug with it, resulted in one of my party stumbling. Waiter explained afternoon tea, but at 5pm they all seemed to clock off and we ended up going to get the bill ourselves. Expected a bit more for >£200

We took some friends over visiting from New York, to Parker’s Tavern for Afternoon Tea last Monday. It was very nice. The food was lovely. At first the food looked very sparce on the cake stands but more food appears as you go through and by the end we couldn’t have eaten one more thing!
The library is very quiet which suited us as there were several of us. Nice with a big open fire which was lit. It’s a lovely hotel and very tastefully designed. It was an ideal venue for taking friends out for sonethjng special, as we were. I would recommend it.
Service isn’t top notch but staff very pleasant and we had no major issues.

Really good afternoon tea overall.
The ambience next to the fire place is amazing. The staff is friendly and very attentive refilling your tea when it’s finish without asking for it. Such a nice touch.
Sweets and scones were really good, sandwiches a bit dry and tasteless.

We enjoyed our Afternoon tea on Saturday the 12th January..
The staff were all excellent from first arriving to being shown to our table, there was a lovely relaxed atmosphere in the room, warm and cosy with the log fire.
Food was excellent
The toilets were wonderful, so clean and a pleasure to use, the lady there looking after the area was very polite and chatty.

It is definitely a hotel which Cambridge needs, something with some style and elegance, would recommend.

This is an attractive venue, but the ambiance is a strange mixture between casual (no tablecloths, badly dressed diners) and formal (uppity staff). I booked based on the excellent tripadvisor review, and went through the website, but could see no tea menu, so assumed we would order off the menu. When we arrived, it gradually became clear (after interaction with the uppity staff) that it is not possible to order off the menu, but only a 3-tier full tea, or cream tea. We ordered one of the former and two of the latter, which was plenty for 3 people, and came in at £56 - on the expensive side, but it was very good food. My main issue was that I had identified allergies to shellfish and nuts in the reservation, and someone even called me about this in the afternoon, which seemed unnecessary at the time of the call as no additional information was exchanged and it was just an annoying interruption, but seemed even more pointless when the food arrived, as the allergies had not been considered whatsoever (despite additional assurances from the staff when we ordered). At this point, I felt that I had had enough interaction with them, so didn't bother to complain, but it did mean that part of the order had to remain uneaten. Also, when I asked for more hot water for our tea, the teapot disappeared and didn't come back. It could be a great place, but they need to pay more attention.

Very disappointed. No consideration for limited mobility 90 year old mother. Exorbitant price. Not shown to a menu. Precarious little table squashed between two bigger ones.
Waiters didn’t seem to know who was doing what.
Astonished to find such poor start to this “iconic “ hotel
