Afternoon Tea at Smokies
The bread for the sandwiches were stale and the filling was poor and the cakes were poor and the mince pies were very small and broken. I recieved Luke warm coffee and we were told it would come in 5 to 7 minutes and it took 20 minutes to come. It was dark and poor service we got served then we didn't see a member of staff around for about 20 minutes. There was only us in and we were so disappointed and bored
The worst afternoon tea I’ve ever had, luckily I got this on offer. If not I would of refused to pay. Nothing like the pictures that are advertised. Will never return for afternoon tea again and certainly won’t be recommending anyone to do so, I’m hoping the Christmas party I’ve booked isn’t a massive let down.
Friendly service on arrival, helpful staff, quick with order of drinks and dietary requirements, sandwiches was fresh and lovely fillings, great price
We had to wait 20 minutes for the food to arrive and we had both finished our drinks that were included by the time the food arrived. When the afternoon tea arrived it looked a bit pathetic if I’m honest. The sandwiches were much smaller than other afternoon teas I’ve had, they would have looked better with the crusts left on and the fillings were measles and uneven with splitting between me and my partner. Instead of a full scone we only had half of one each, the strawberries were off, soggy and inedible. The small cakes on top were nice but again there was 5 of one type, 2 of another and 3 of another so it was uneven again.
The staff were lovely and the dining area lovely as well but the food let the venue down massively.
Afternoon Tea was extremely dissapointing & looked nothing like the picture they advertise. We only had 2 small cakes each & they looked like Mr Kipling cakes so definitely shop bought! The scones were not fresh either. Nobody came over to ask how things were or offer refills of tea or coffee. Wont be recommending this place or returning again!
We were the only ones in the restaurant as it was 12.30 the door to the restaurant was locked. The wait or was sweeping up the floor, we were taken to our table and tea brought to us. The food was brought out straight away as we had just sit down. Out had definately been made earlier. The sandwiches were squashed together and the cakes and scones were hard and cold like they had been in the fridge. All the time wee were eating the Waitor carried on sweeping the floor. The only saving grace was music was put on in the background so we didn't hear the cutlery being banter down and the floor brushed. I was very disappointed as the last time u had been in smokies restaurant was the morning after my wedding reception which was held there. I thought it would be a nice sentimental lunch to take the husband back to where we got married. How wrong was I
We booked afternoon tea for 3 people and they only gave us enough food for 2! We had to mention to the staff and they did give us another but then when we went to pay we was stood waiting for around 20 mins with a baby!! We had 2 staff come over to say they will get someone to take the payment as they couldnt do it but still no body came so we went to reception to pay and they didnt seem bothered atall by the experience!! Wouldnt NOT recommend!!
Good price and good selection, restaurant was a bit quiet though
Didnt look a lot on first sight, but can confirm there was plenty as we didnt finish it. If you like jam there is an abundance of it for the scones one to many if I'm being honest. Mini red velvet cupcakes were lush as was the lemon cake. Sandwiches plenty of different flavours on offer, beef with horseradish, tuna mayo, cheese and pickle to name but a few. One critic would be another pot of tea as one between the two of us just wasnt enough. Overall would I go again.... yes!
There was a family day in the next room to us and Disney songs were being sung by live performers, with the door open and quite loud. The lunch was just about adequate for £10 per person.
We were greeted as soon as we arrived and our table was ready and set . The lady was lovely and friendly . We were served with a huge pot of tea more than enough for two which was refreshed while we were there . A jug of water was also provided. The food was excellent with 4 choices of sandwich , the cake was delicious , especially the victoria sponge soft and light and with 2 scones each with more than enough jam and cream with fresh berries as a nice touch . For the price this was amazing value for money , a great experience and would highly recommend.
