London Restaurant Festival: Afternoon Tea with glass of champagne £50
Traditional Afternoon Tea with a glass of Ayala champagne at £50.00 per person.
Generally a good visit, but a couple of tweaks could improve things dramatically. 1. Delivering the three afternoon tea elements at the same time means that by the time you get to the patisserie section items such as the opera cake has become warm and unpleasant in the sunshine coming through the conservatory roof. 2. Serving five different pastries for a table of two is a strange mix with someone left to fight over a single item. Yes I’m aware we can request more but it’s still strange. Other afternoon teas would serve four pastries x two for a table of two covers, this makes far more sense. I have to say we wasn’t the only one to notice this and comment on it either.
Excellent afternoon tea! Beautifully-tasty sandwiches, with a second helping arriving automatically, and our guest's food preference resulting in her own special plate of sandwiches. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. It's expensive - but well and truly worth it!
It was pricey, and only one glass of champagne included.
A terrible experience. We paid £90 per person for a very mediocre afternoon tea.
We booked through OpenTable and the champagne Christmas afternoon wasn't mentioned. We were forced to take the champagne afternoon tea even though we were both driving, and wouldn't drink anything when driving.
When we spoke to the manager, who really wasn't interested.
To be honest, there are hundreds of fabulous places for afternoon tea, this isn't one of them.
I went to the afternoon tea with my family. We really enjoyed the food.
Beautiful room and nice staff. Afternoon tea very good - sandwiches, scones and cakes. Tea could have been refreshed as it got a bit stewed. Service a little slow.
I enjoyed the food and the bar area was lovely. The dining room itself was nice but nothing special. The service however was a bit disappointing - despite the table not being ready when we arrived (fair enough we were early), the staff seemed desperate to clear our plates away and kept coming up to the table even when we’d only been there just over an hour. I would return to the hotel but I think there are better afternoon teas.
We wanted a special tea for our first visit to London, and we honestly weren’t expecting it to be as fun as it turned out to be— in fact, it was a highlight of the entire trip!
Great experience and the staff are so nice! The scones are the best I’ve ever had!
Beautifully light and airy room, very friendly and attentive staff. The food was delicious too.
Great experience again !
Thank you and will be back as soon as possible.

We had a wonderful time at tea at this beautiful hotel. It was our first time to London as a family and we had a lovely time. The service was impeccable. After exploring the garden at the hotel, we booked a stay for our next trip here. We can’t wait to return!

I had’t been for their afternoon tea for a while and didn’t know they changed the venue to a dinning room. (Hence I got to understand they now do afternoon tea only at 4pm)
I personally prefer pervious venue facing to the garden.
Sandwich, scones and cakes are nice and fresh as usual. We really enjoyed it.
Service was a little bit interesting.
The waitress who came to our table to take order looked like a middle-aged house keeper and her attitude was a kind of rough. (Just because we were a group of 6people including a child? And Asian? But I believe we behaved quite well then, at least generally we do, but maybe it’s just in Japanese way though. Or it might be because we were dressed casual as we did sightseeing on the day)
I couldn’t really understand what she said then because of her English.
But other young waiters were very friendly and nice, looking after us well, so I’m content.
I also thank for the special cake with a candle for my father, which made him happier. Really appreciate it.
Absolutely delicious! A wonderful setting, doting waiters, and scrumptious food at a reasonable price! Highly recommend to anyone visiting London!
We had a lovely time afternoon tea was delicious would recommend
A truly wonderful and decadent experience that made my 30th birthday celebrations even more special. Thank you so much.
Unfortunately, I found afternoon tea at The Goring a waste of my time and money. I have been to a number of afternoon teas in the past and would have expected more from this calibre of hotel. The hotel itself was lovely. The staff were friendly but painfully slow. My friend actually felt unwell at one point and I had to ask for water twice and it eventually came 20 minutes later. I could have gone to the nearest shop and bought some quicker! The sandwiches were uninspiring - cheese and pickle, really?! The scones (raisin and plain) and jam (strawberry and raspberry) were OK and the dessert tier was nice to look at but overall very sweet. Finally, the tea... the reason I look forward to any afternoon tea. The selection was decent but each tea either arrived stewed or the flavours were nondescript, which was disappointing. Overall, I would like to go back in time and book somewhere else but at least I know not to go back there for afternoon tea.
Wonderful tea selection and impeccable service. Fabulous experience!
The feel of the Hotel and Restaurant was like stepping back in time. The luxury was evident and the attentiveness of the waiting staff second to none Two points i would raise that there were not enough cakes and that we were charged for a pot of tea as part of the deal which one member preferred not to have and we were then charged £6 for a glass of orange juice. There was also not enough reduction for the two small children, who ate some food but not that much! Otherwise, overall a very pleasant experience.
Absolutely very impressed with the service. Our French waiter was very knowledgeable and helped us pick a beautiful bottle of champagne. He never made us feel uncomfortable and everyone was exceptional . Thank you for a wonderful experience .
