Enjoy our traditional afternoon tea in the elegance of The Great Room whilst being entertained by live music. Our three tiered silverstand boasts finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam and a delicious selection of cakes, pastries and sweet treats. This will be accompanied by your choice of tea or coffee.

We had an amazing Indian Odyssey experience at The Merchant, piles to eat and even brought lots home! Well worth it!

Afternoon tea was fabulous. The food was divine and the service was unobtrusive yet really attentive. Of course the setting is amazing but the whole ambience is just lovely. On the booking form weeks before when asked if it was a special occasion, I had mentioned it was my sisters birthday but didn’t mention it on the day. Towards the end, a waiter brought out a fully iced half sized Happy Birthday cake with candle and had worked out which of the 3 of us was celebrating their birthday. £49 is expensive but the experience is worth every penny imo ❤️

The atmosphere is grand and historic, and the service very good. Sandwich portions were generous and tasty, so that made my husband happy. The desserts were visually stunning, but I am not a fan of foamy textures, so did not eat much of the sweets.

Afternoon Tea at The Merchant was a gift for my Mum's 80th Birthday. Both she and my Dad really enjoyed the food and the experience. The complimentary birthday cake was a lovely touch. They both left with goody bags to enjoy the next day as there was more food than they could eat on the day.

It is an amazing experience that begins as you walk through the door. The decoration of the dining room is off the scale beautiful. Lovely table and comfy couch, the staff were very attentive and friendly, then came the champagne and the food. The sandwiches were delicious, and I wanted more, but I'm glad I didn't as the cakes were to die for and so filling. We left feeling we had experienced something special for my partners birthday. I would highly recommend a visit.

The venue was pleasant and overall quiet. Our server was professional and kind. Didn't miss a beat. The food was unusual for a tea, with a lacing of Indian influence and was delicious! I WILL go back when we are in Belfast again.

Food was absolutely delicious, and presented beautifully- the pastries looked so good I almost felt bad eating them! Excellent selection of teas which really complemented the food. Service was faultless: really attentive and professional without being obtrusive. We were celebrating a birthday and were very pleasantly surprised with a little birthday cake- a lovely touch! Price wise this afternoon tea is excellent value for money, when you consider the quality of the food (and the generous servings), the service, the surroundings and the ambience. Probably the best afternoon tea I've had, and I'm really looking forward to returning soon.
