   I scheduled Afternoon Tea as a surprise late Mother's Day present for my Mom since I was out of the country on actual Mother's Day. As a surprise for her, my sister-in-law drove in from Raleigh and my best friend joined us as well. It was a lovely event and the staff made her feel so special. I believe this created a memory for each of us to treasure!

   The True Gift of the Magi: Landon’s Art of Hospitality If afternoon tea were a short story, then our time at the O. Henry hotel was one penned by O. Henry himself—rich in charm, wit, and quiet revelation. Each course unfolded like a carefully crafted scene: the warm scones opened the tale with familiar comfort, leading to the crisp prose of cucumber sandwiches, the savory intrigue of smoked salmon crumpets, chicken salad phyllo tarts, and a lyrical ending of French macaroons and assorted sweets. Presiding over this elegant narrative was Landon B., whose thoughtful care and courteous professionalism gave every guest a starring role in this gracious story. Like a gifted storyteller writing between the lines, he ensured every detail—each fresh pot of tea, each gentle gesture—added depth and delight to the experience. Under his supervision, our server Jaden poured the first cup with such gentle flourish. And Jaden’s smile? It wasn’t just “nice”—it was as warm and radiant as the final paragraph of “The Gift of the Magi”: simple, sincere, and shining with just the right touch of grace. You could almost believe her smile had been penned by O. Henry himself—full of heart, with a twist of kindness. It was all perfectly at home in the O. Henry Hotel—where the hospitality feels handwritten, the tea is laced with storytelling, and every sip tastes like a short story with a happy ending. In "The Gift of the Magi," O. Henry writes, “Of all who give and receive gifts, such as they are wisest.” Landon, in his daily work, gives a gift indeed—the gift of hospitality done with heart. From guests who know a well-“brew”-ed story when they sip it, and who now believe the true “Gift of the Magi” might just be a fresh pot of tea poured by Landon.

   Lovely setting in the lobby area but didn’t feel awkward. We were seated in oversized arm chairs and a small table. Service was good, food was delicious, and selection of teas was just right. Great value for the price compared to other full teas we have enjoyed. Will definitely come back!
