Entry via the Cafe Royal Hotel was pleasant enough, guided through to the entrance of the Oscar Wilde Lounge. Upon entry you are greeted with a room that will blow you away! Mirrored walls and beautiful mood lighting.
Nathan our waiter for the experience was fantastic, talking us through the Van Gogh inspired afternoon tea. Personable, professional, eloquent, Nathan was fantastic and made the experience even better!
The food was as you’d expect just as special. The sandwiches (the crab especially) and cheese cake were our particular favourites.
The sunflower was a little too rich for us but it was beautifully made!
Overall, it was an experience to savour. If I were to choose between the ritz or the Cafe Royal… the Oscar Wilde Lounge would be my choice any day!
Truly amazing experience!! Food was delicious and service impeccable, will be back!!
The most stunning room I've ever eaten in. Truly special. The service was perfect. The afternoon tea was delicious & we were offered more if we wanted it and unlimited tea. The tea menu was as special as the place I've never had such choice so it was also a tea tasting experience too. Obviously it carries a weighty price tag for an afternoon tea however it was worth it as its an experience not simply a sandwich and cup of tea.
Beautiful service from our lovely waiter, made our celebration afternoon tea a special treat.
An excellent afternoon tea in the heart of central London.
We really enjoyed the afternoon tea in the Oscar Wilde Lounge and my guests visiting from overseas were very impressed. We especially enjoyed the Van Gogh themed pastries!
An amazing experience! The service and ambience is luxurious and the food was beyond belief. It was utterly faultless from start to finish. Would highly recommend.
Amazing experience, staff were attentive an offered tailored recommendations
If you want to take afternoon tea in the Oscar Wilde room check the days available. Whilst it was enjoyable in the Cakes and Bubbles room it was not as special. However the service was exemplary, the food good on the eye and delightful to eat
Fabulous experience! Perfect service - just the right amount of professionalism verses personal. The expertise that had gone into producing such an amazing sweet selection was mind blowing. The whole thing was elegant and delightful. The pianist was truly fantastic playing an incredible repertoire for well over and hour and a half. Divine!
Amazing Afternoon Tea Experience at the Oscar Wilde Lounge. Only downside were the child size table and chairs - as 2 tall people it was a bit uncomfortable to be sat so low down and we did feel sorry for the waiting staff having to crouch on their haunches to talk to us. But more than anything it was funny but don't think it was meant to be.
As for the actual food - exceptional - the pastries were works of art. We were very satisified and very full by the end of the meal.
Such a great experience! Absolutely fantastic! Definetely you should try!
Looking for something really special …. This is it! From the stunning room to the attentive staff through to the best sandwiches and sweets I’ve ever had. Topped off with a couple of glasses of Veuve Clicquot. Perfection.
Anniversary afternoon treat. Amazing food & service - especially from Anna our waitress on 03/10/21.
Lovely room, piano music a bit loud, fabulous sandwiches & savory nibbles, lemon dessert to die for, great scones & a bit too much chocolate
Once again great service and food, in the wonderful Oscar Wilde Lounge
We had our wedding anniversary celebration at Hotel Royal Oscar Wild Lounge. The Van Gogh afternoon tea was an amazing experience with Vivien Clicquot champagne and tasty sandwiches, cakes and other. Recommend!!!
Very good experience
Absolutely excellent, everything was outstanding....delicious tea, great service and beautiful piano music
Our servers were fantastic and couldn’t have been more helpful. Elegant surroundings and a beautifully calm atmosphere. The pianist was outstanding and enhanced the opulence of the place. The food, inspired by Vincent Van Gogh’s works, was inspired. The crab sandwiches stood out, as did the Van Gogh cheesecake. Staff had great rapport and were attentive. Absolutely loved it and would love to come back soon!
This was the most wonderful experience from start to finish! The room is incredible, the pianist was wonderful, the service was fantastic and the food was fabulous. My daughter and I have decided to make it a tradition to do this every year. The Starry Night tea was so much fun. We will definitely be returning!
What an absolutely fabulous afternoon tea we had at the Oscar Wilde lounge. The room is just breathtaking, the food delicious and the staff wonderful. They were very efficient but also really warm and personable. This was a long-awaited treat postponed from lockdown and, boy, was it worth waiting for. Thank you so much for such a really wonderful time. Would wholeheartedly recommend.
Wonderful afternoon tea at Cafe Rotal for wedding anniversary. Exemplary service . Pricey but ok for a memorable occasion
Beautiful place with a really interesting history. The Van Gogh experience was something different abs enjoyable. Only issue was being followed out of the restaurant to collect £1.50 from the remaining 12.5% discretionary tip we paid (£36 already paid) :/
The food looked and tasted beautiful. Unfortunately we felt at the start of the service that we were given flat glasses of champagne, it was only when we made comment that the waiter came quickly over and changed the glasses. Felt like he was watching our reaction! It’s all in the detail!
A beautiful setting and the staff were perfect. The seating was very low and cramped, uncomfortable for eating, the table far too small for the amount of items on it , the waiter struggled to find space so teapots etc were teatring on the edge which made us nervous...we had to help him move things around to try to make space...The pianist was lovely but left hslf way through out sitting...then my friend and i both started to feel nauseas after the stary night serving...so we left earlier than planned, we were unwell for the rest of the evening and night...tea at the Rits was a whole different positive experience. We visit London very often and unless there were a few improvements made we would unfortunately not return.
A perfect setting to indulge in dainty finger sandwiches, mouth watering scones and delicious pastries- imaginative and fun as the hotel takes it cue from ‘ Van Gogh ‘ as its central theme
Very attentive and humorous waiters! A lovely afternoon tea in a gorgeous room! Loved the artistic concept of the experience.
V tasty Van Gogh afternoon tea served by friendly staff in a lovely relaxed atmosphere! Nice piano music too
Had a lovely afternoon tea experience here for our friends 60th Birthday. Attention to detail is amazing. Definitely different to the average aft tea. If you’re looking for something special this is it.
Was ok. Expected more for what you pay. Not great selection of food.
It was a special place to take a friend for a milestone birthday treat. Lots of thought given to the presentation of the food. The savouries were delicious. The large starry night cheesecake filled us up though so unfortunately couldn’t finish the rest. So posh doggy bags for us and several other customers. Overall a very memorable experience.
My sister and I took my mum to the Van Gogh afternoon tea and we had such a lovely time. Our host, whose name I didn't get before we left, was really friendly and entertaining and knew a lot about Van Gogh and the food/drinks. Everything was delicious and it was amazing that they managed to get A Starry Night on a cheesecake. Really beautiful and well-thought out. Great music throughout from a very talented pianist as well. Would definitely recommend it.
Such a lovely treat! The food here is always amazing and so well thought out! Pillowy soft sandwiches and lovely Van Gogh themed treats
Firstly we appreciate being accommodated earlier than expected. Pianist was very good. Waitress was friendly, her presentation of the theme was good.
Water was never refilled, champagne bottle ordered was not brought at first we were offered a glass of something else, then there were long lulls between refills. Sandwiches-bread was light and flavoursome but there was very little filling; I asked for more tea and after 20 minutes I had to ask again as it didn’t arrive. Overall not as expected, would be good for staff to be more on the ball. Too much time spent explaining Van Gogh theme.
Absolutely amazing. We were considering the Ritz but booked here instead. I am so glad we did. Everything from start to finish with food, drink, and service was superb!
Exceptional service best I've experienced waitress was very lovely even came with a little surprise chocolate with candle for my wife birthday. Ambiance excellent i can't fault my experience. Highly recommended.
Service was awful! Waiters with bad manners and don’t even imagine how to behave with guests((
The pianist and our waiter were just phenomenal, we will definitely return in the future.
Very impressive venue. Was a lovely afternoon tea and fantastic service.
