Good service! Nice food!
Wonderfull experience! Highly recommended for high tea
Food and tea, just amazing.
Service, so kind and caring.
Mood, luxurious yet warm.
Music, a superb pianist.
It seems a little costoso but it was worth every penny. I would love to go back for special occasions or meetings!
Venue was beautiful, all staff was kind and extremely helpful. We was served by Holly, whom was a delight throughout our afternoon tea. The food was incredible. I have been to many well known afternoon teas and this Is now on the top of my list! I definitely will be returning.
The Oscar Wilde Lounge is a perfect place for an exquisit afternoon tea. Live piano music, amazing service, a very fancy looking room. The food was very good, and íf you'd be a big eater, you can get refills on everything you love. For us, though, the food that was delivered to our table was more than enough. If required, it's possible to take your leftovers with you in a box. We want to thank you for this amazing experience!
This setting is luxurious and the staff so helpful and courteous. We enjoyed every minute of our afternoon tea experience. We were pleased to be served two different kinds of tea from an expansive menu. Our waiter was knowledgeable and very interested in helping us to choose. I loved the historical connection between the menu and Queen Victoria's party menu, how creative! Our food was top quality and served with style. So much thought has gone into making this a truly unforgettable visit. Thank you.
Special occasion and a fabulous tea. Staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Highly recommwnded
The whole experience was very nice, all the waiters are very warm and welcoming, and the food was very good.
I’ll surely come back as soon as I can
Very nice and elegant atmosphere. Could not fault the food. Savoury elements were good quality and very happy with the unlimited sandwich element (this should be a legal requirement for all AT’s.
Friendly and polite staff!
Excellent afternoon tea. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. A special mention to Diane who served us and couldn't be more welcoming and helpful. The staff were all very good and made the treat very special.
On arrival shown to table by very polite man. Oscar Wilde Lounge is beautiful with pianist playing. Unfortunately we did not get what we had booked. We booked a normal afternoon tea priced at £55.pp which was stated on website when booking. Instead we were given a festive menu afternoon tea priced at £65 pp + a 12.5% service charge (there was no option for the service charge to be discretionary).
There was no alternative to the festive menu. The food was average. Female serving was very friendly but service was slow. Nobody checked or asked if everything was ok.
This is the worst afternoon tea we have been to and I would not recommend or return.
I emailed The Cafe Royal 3 days ago with these points but as yet no reply.
Fabulous environment; feels very luxurious and relaxing. Attentive staff.
One of the food offerings didn’t look very appetising: lurid green on the top of one of the cakes was off-putting; white bread vegetarian sandwiches were a bit bland and lacking flavour — but in the other hand the game pie was a meal in itself!
enjoyed the visit, but selection of food and teas was somewhat below expectation
Marvellous tea and a splendid way to enjoy a Christmas treat with my Reverend. I do think a bit more care with timings should be taken. The tea didn’t arrive until we asked for it and we had our sandwiches for 10mins with no tea to accompany it. There were only 5 tables occupied so I don’t think this should have happened. The staff were very polite though, and tried to ensure our comfort. The pianist was sublime at playing and the music choices delightfully fitting. Thank you, I usually frequent the Dorcester but will come again soon to your historic tea venue :)
An amazing experience. From the moment you walk in you feel like a queen. The staff is friendly, the food and tea are delicious, and the mood is set with a piano player entertaining you through the experience.
Was disappointed with sandwiches and cakes not sure why game pie was served with afternoon tea as it was very dry. The champagne jelly was my favourite. Scones were very good much better than those served at the Ritz. The ambiance and service were excellent and staff are extremely friendly accommodating and the pianist complimented the occasion nicely.
Lovely time. Great, friendly service. Made birthday celebration extra special. Pianist played Happy Birthday. Memorable time.
Absolutely amazing experience! Probably the most Beautiful room in London!
Fabulous setting and great food. And it still manages to feel intimate and relaxed.
Fabulous food, service and ambiance. From the moment we stepped inside we felt that we were walking in luxury. Everything was explained in detail to us and the food was superb.
Spectacular afternoon tea! The meat pie was unbelievable!! Our 8 year old was so disappointed to leave after 2.5 hours!
Beautiful experience. The service is perhaps as good as you will encounter in any restaurant. The food was light and tasty and combined with the service and ambience ensured the perfect afternoon tea. The pianist as well was superb.
We had an amazing tea. The food was fantastic. The staff was amazing . The room we were seated in has beautiful architecture and furnishings and was warm and inviting. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will go back again!
Delightful atmosphere. Enjoyable experience all around.
The Oscar Wilde Lounge itself is absolutely stunning & steeped in history. The festive afternoon tea was beautiful, a lovely selection of savoury & sweet delicacies. The staff were very knowledgeable & accommodating, Hollie in particular gave us great service. Highly recommend for a special occasion.
Compared to many other afternoon teas in the UK around the world I’ve experienced I thought it was rather poor. From the savoury items to the sweet treats it was not up to standard. The scones were extremely doughy and I wasn’t the only one who thought this. The woman at the table next to me was telling her waitress the exact same thing and she apparently has done many an afternoon tea she exclaimed. The chairs although quaint were ridiculously low so god forbid anyone who was tall having to sit on them. I’m only 5ft tall and I struggled sitting in them for that length of time feeling all the while my knees were up around my chin! Whilst I enjoyed the gentleman playing on the piano very much I think the choice of music played in between his sets was not a good choice for afternoon tea either. Too modern and upbeat comes to mind.
Overall I was not impressed at all with the experience and would have to say the only part of the afternoon I enjoyed was the champagne!
A big thumbs down from me unfortunately as I did have high hopes from the reviews I’d read previously online.
My second visit to the Oscar Wilde Lounge, this time with my husband to celebrate our anniversary. The festive afternoon tea included a variety of tasty savoury and sweet treats. We enjoyed rather too many savouries that our sweet delicacies were boxed for us to take home! The staff were both friendly and efficient and the ambiance was perfect. An expensive treat but so worth it.
I’ve been a few times and it’s absolutely fabulous.
The experience was simply amazing and well worth every cent! Truly got so much food and tea for the value! Service was simply amazing and would highly recommend
The attention to detail was absolutely fantastic and the staff very attentive without being overbearing. The food was absolutely delicious - would 100% recommend!
Wonderful service, thank you Anna!
Food was great and they played happy birthday on the piano for my sister.
Great experience
Beautiful setting, food and service. Also great value, thank you shall be revisiting
I was recommended this hotel by a friend so I booked it for my mum's 70th birthday. The Oscar Wilde room was stunning! The afternoon tea was lovely and filling. The cakes were beautifully made. We were offered extra sandwiches and tea. If you're offered water, request tap water or they charge you extra. Towards the end of our visit, the pianist played Happy Birthday and a member of staff came over to my mum with two truffles with a candle in them and 'Happy 70th Birthday!' written in chocolate on the plate, which was a nice surprise. Toilets were nice and clean.
Was a lovely afternoon treat for my daughters bithday; if you want a little something special then this place is a must, lovely staff, beautiful room and atmosphere, treated lovely and a place that must be visited again . Would recommend to everyone to pay a visit 👌
Staffs are very professional and knowledgeable.
Thank you for the great time.
This was such an amazing experience. Great ambiance, food, and service. Holly our waitress was absolutely lovely. Will definitely be coming back.
I arranged the Queen's Afternoon Tea with champagne, as a surprise for a dear friend who was celebrating her 70th Birthday. We were four in total and everyone had a fabulous time, the food and champagne were delicious and top-ups offered as required. The 'Happy Birthday' plate with chocolates and candle, was an additional, unexpected touch. Nathan, our waiter was charming and knowledgeable. Thank you for making our afternoon so memorable. This was my second visit and I know I will be back again.
-Extremely good service
-very nice ambience
-Live piano music
-very good food (offered refill of food and drinks)
-offered our leftovers in a very nice box
-location in central london
Made our daughter's 21st a lovely memorable afternoon. The Oscar Wilde lounge is so elegant. Service was excellent as was the food, especially smoked salmon sandwiches in a black charcoal bread. We were offered extra sandwiches, which in some places you don't get. Great choice of teas in the menu which were explained by the waitress. The pianist played Happy Birthday while she was delivered some chocolates on a plate with chocolate written "Happy Birthday" on it which was a surprise. The only thing I would say is we felt quite cramped on a small table. We had 2 platters as she had her own being vegetarian as well as the teas, glasses etc for 3 people. All the staff were so friendly and polite, thank you!
