The overall experience was wonderful, the server was a very polite young lady, who explained everything we had to eat perfectly. The only negative was the service charge of £25.50 which we felt was quite alot added to the bill.

Super setting, v efficient and unobtrusive service, super food with the offer of extra sandwiches and scones. Expensive but you know that when you book. The only complaint is that after 1.75 hours, your bill is brought to the table and you are hurried out after 2 hours. We went early (12.30 booking but arrived 12.15) and were presented with the bill about 2.15. There were number of empty tables ( only about 6 were used throughout our tea) so we couldn't understand the hurry. I realise there may have been a rush later but we left at 2.50 ( having used the bathroom) with only a few tables in use. I know this 2 hour rule is widespread but afternoon tea should be relaxed and restful. Have been in comparable establishments for much longer when tables are free. Overall, a lovely experience slightly marred by the ending.

I traveled to England for 5 days in this summer and Oscar Wilde Lounge was the most gorgeous restaurant. The tea and tarts were excellent! The cakes was poorer than it looks in the picture, and although they tasted very fatty and too unique. So we left them. However, although it was not crowded and we had a reservation, the first seat we were shown to was a terrible seat at the entrance. (They changed it when we requested it.) Next time we will go somewhere else.

Beautiful setting, impeccable service. The pastries were beautiful, and we loved the fact they weren’t super sweet. Sandwiches could have been better flavor. Cant go wrong adding champagne as well. Nice piano music. Overall it was a wonderful experience, especially for my friend’s 1st time of having tea.

This was a return visit and I have to say we thought the standard was not as good as we remember. The scones were diminutive compared to traditional English scones. Some aspects of the cakes were very good but others not so exciting considering this was meant to be a celebration of the Queens Jubilee. The venue is great though

Wonderful room, with a great history. You won't find a better space for afternoon tea. The cakes were a bit disappointing and, while the service was polite and attentive, there was a lot of description of all the 'packages' at the start which detracted from the magic somwhat!

From start to finish we had a wonderful time! The room is beautiful and ornate without feeling too grand. People were there in formal and informal wear and were treated with equal levels of professionalism and charm. The afternoon tea was outstanding with the offering of more sandwiches if we wished. We enjoyed the pastries and warm scones and even took some home! The champagne paring of Veuve Cliquot was perfect! We would recommend this afternoon tea for anyone wanting a little something special. It makes for a perfect family day out, friend get together or intimate date.

We had the Jubilee afternoon tea it had to be the best tea we have had in London it was our second visit as we came here several years back at Christmas also excellent. The Jubilee tea was a wonderful experience the element of the Ice cream sandwich was a wonderful surprise and the brilliance of the special in-house jubilee cup of tea was pure genius. The service was impeccable and the offer of more sandwiches/ scones if we wanted them added to the experience ( not that we wanted more as it was sufficient but nice to be offered) The team working were all polite and considerate excellent service. The cakes were a pure work of art and all relevant to the Queen. The piano player added to the ambiance. Wonderful and highly recommend it.

This is difficult to write as the service and atmosphere were perfect, and the food right up until the patisserie was also perfect, all full of flavour and perfectly balanced, with an excellent selection of teas but all of the patisserie course was really disappointing, hardly any flavour at all and a total waste of calories. It's such a shame as we had high hopes especially after eating the Jam Penny which was outstanding.

Nice to return to the Cafe Royal after so many years. Our tea was exquisite but, perhaps, just a little too much so: we found the sandwiches lacked texture (ie a bit too much 'mush') and needed to be bolder: a little more seasoning of the ingredients - for example, the Coronation chicken finger lacked any punch, as if a very 'safe' approach had been chosen. I wanted apricot, curry, mango and actual chicken pieces ... and more than one sultana ... We also found the patisserie, while assembled with great skill, were just a little too sweet and, again lacked any sharpness of taste. There was also rather a lot of what we termed 'ship's biscuits'. Sometimes simpler is best and we were surprised that the tea lacked HM's favourite tea item, namely chocolate biscuit cake where the aforementioned biscuits would have been better deployed. The introductory amuse bouche was, however, spot on and we could have happily consumed more savoury items like this. The service was professional and attentive, the price a little sharp and the decor outstanding.

Absolutely wonderful in every way! I would definitely recommend. This was the perfect combination of class, service, ambiance and quality that we were expecting. I took my daughter for her 30th birthday and Cafe Royal was exceptionally well placed for a little retail therapy alongside the Jubilee Afternoon Tea. I felt it was better suited and perfect for the younger person and we couldn’t recommend it enough. Certainly a venue we will revisit, maybe with an overnight stay also next time!

Prior to traveling to London I reviewed multiple online suggestions for the 'best' high tea. The front runner was at The Ritz--it was booked. So we chose one of the top five found on multiple sites, High Tea with Oscar Wilde. Lets cut to the chase--It was ok. It was late in the day, admittedly after the usual tea time, and the place was almost empty. But, The ambiance was extraordinary! Lovely, ornate gold accents and mirrors EVERYWHERE. Lovely pink tones throughout and comfy pink velvet banquet seats offered cush to the bottom for a long sit during the high tea. Why such a low score you ask? The food. The service. The tea. They phoned it all in. For nearly $100 a person, with ONE glass of champagne, this is truly unacceptable in THE capital of High Tea. The sandwiches, full of mayo and filler. The treats--cute presentation trumped flavor in overly sweet, and dime store flavors. The tea--my son's was BLUE, like a blue gatorade full of FD&C Blue. My white tea--the bag was left in the bottom and the second cup was awful and astringent. The service--minamal. They couldn't be bothered to clear our used items or deliver our bill. Truly, dont waste your time at this place. Poke in for a nosy and then bolt on out after snapping a pic of the pretty place as you wander over elsewhere for your lower cost, better tasting, more attentive High Tea.

Simply perfect! Wish I could give more than 5 stars! I’ve been here many times for different occasions, and always have a wonderful time. The Oscar Wilde Lounge is stunning. You just can’t help but feel like you’re having afternoon tea in Château de Versailles. The afternoon tea is a different theme everytime I go (Alice in Wonderland, Van Gogh, and Platinum Jubilee). They have great vegetarian and vegan options and non-alcoholic sparkling wine. Everything looks and tastes beyond marvellous. But the best part by far has to be the service. The staff are polite and friendly, and incredibly attentive. It’s clear how passionate they are about their work. They are knowledgeable about all items on the menu and love to pamper the customers. You will be sad to leave at the end, but then you’ll keep going back like me!

Great place, friendly and professional stuff. Table was small and chairs were too low, not so comfortable to seat. Food was average, small portion of sandwiches. I was still hungry after I left. The desserts looked nice but 2 out of 5 were sickly sweet. I make cakes and sweets myself, and could have done better job. It was jubilee aftenoon tea, for the price I paid Id expected smth nicer than what I got. Ive been to different place for afternoon tea and was much better than this, so room fir improvement oscar wilde!!!

Absolutely beautiful venue, lots of history and located inside a gorgeous hotel. Seating hostess was very kind when we were a few minutes late and was happy to seat us - Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Afternoon Tea was spectacular, a real treat and I would highly recommend. What was lacking here was the attitude of the staff. Our waiter upon seating was very rude and not at all welcoming, another waiter also served our table who was much better and made the experience more enjoyable. Shame about the service as the food and venue are top notch.

When you walk in to the Oscar Wilde Lounge, you are transported back in time. It is a stunnng setting to have afternoon tea. The staff were brilliant in meeting us, and our waiter was extremely knowledgable, and helpful, when he was with us. The tea was beautiful, but the food did not match up. Each sandwhich had different bread, but they were all soggy, and as a result, tasteless. The scones were to die for, but the desserts were a triumph of style over substance. They looked beautiful, but were heavy and the biscuit element of them was hard. Another thing which spoiled my enjoyment was that the chairs were too low, and I very quickly felt uncomfortable as my knees hurt. There are far better afternoon teas around in London, so I shall not return.
