After much deliberation, I chose an afternoon tea at The Petersham to celebrate my friend's 50th and we were not disappointed!! The setting was beautiful. The food, presented in such a magical way with a little bit of theatre, was delicious and we enjoyed every bite. The service was impeccable; attentive but not overbearing, thoughtful and personable. We spent a thoroughly enjoyable couple of hours enjoying every last morsel and soaking up the wonderful atmosphere, which was made extra special as it was so close to Christmas.

Overall I think the food was decent, but the service could be improved drastically. I have been to the Richmond branch before and had a lovely experience there. The staff were really friendly and accommodating in the Richmond branch and in comparison, I think the staff in the Covent Garden branch came across as a little bit dismissive.

This was a very disappointing afternoon tea and not worth £55 per person. The sandwiches were tiny and tasted stale as if they’ve been prepared long before our arrival. The scones were very doughy, flavourless and not warm. The sweet treats were okay but pretty basic. The tea also did not keep its heat. The whole experience was disappointing! There are much more lovelier places in London to enjoy good quality afternoon tea. I do not recommend afternoon tea here at all!

The food was ok, sandwiches were stale, but the sweet treats really good. When I have afternoon tea in other restaurants, the waiter explained the teas to us and let us smell them. At the petersham, we were just asked to choose from the list, no explanation. The service was poor, little attention and the waiter had ‘an attitude’.

Really disappointed in the service (and lack thereof). The speed in which the food came to us was quite unusual considering the place wasn't that busy - we ended up waiting just under 50 minutes for the food to arrive. The portion sizes were pretty poor and too weighted to the sweet items. No one came to ask if everything was ok, or make clear if we got free refills of anything. Relatively nice environment but a bit sterile looking during the day. Was there for a birthday treat which evidently was a bit of a letdown. £250 for 4 people to have afternoon tea including 13.5% service definitely isn't worth it. If you're looking for a decent afternoon tea Id recommend looking elsewhere.

Came to enjoy the Afternoon Tea at The Petersham, Covent Garden with my mum and wife to celebrate a sunny Friday afternoon and whilst the venue is amazing and the staff attentive, the food was a bit of let down as some items were a bit floury or even on the dry side. Lots of attention to detail in the decor, the beautiful flowers and service, get the food and portions right and you're onto a winner.

We were very underwhelmed at the afternoon tea - we booked for an early Mother’s Day treat and just felt the whole experience was disappointing. £440 for 6 diners with a bottle of Prosecco. Some of us substituted the fish options for vegetarian ones and were not told what the substitutes would be - one was a tiny bit of artichoke. All the portion sizes for the savoury course were tiny and we all left still feeling hungry. Our waiters changed halfway through and the second waiter was rude and started trying to clear away plates when we were still eating. Overall a very expensive, disappointing afternoon.

For the price (55£ + 13.5% service charge) it was a joke. The food was almost non existent: a cracker with a dollop of coronation chicken, a blini with a sliver of trout, a minuscule piece of beetroot. Also, 13.5% service charge? Even higher than the usual 12.5% The toilets were a mess and the food took ages to arrive. Our server was nice but a bit too intrusive, kept interrupting our conversation and making jokes and asking about our lives. We felt massively cheated by the whole experience
