Afternoon Tea at The Savoy
Guests can also indulge in Afternoon Tea in this comfortable and intimate spot accompanied by the hotel's resident pianist. Afternoon Tea at The Savoy is an enduring custom where guests can choose from a range of teas served with finger sandwiches, homemade scones with clotted cream & jam and a mouthwatering selection of cakes and pastries.
Afternoon Tea starts from £75.00 per person.
Lovely afternoon tea as a treat for Mum
My thirteen year old grandson loves afternoon tea at The Savoy and expects to experience a trip during each school holiday.
Perfect way to celebrate a special birthday. Attention to detail was exceptional and the birthday cake really was the icing on the cake! An experience we will remember forever, thank you.
One of the best experience of afternoon tea in London ! Amazing memories 😍😍👍🏽
The food and the service were both superb. The atmousphere was as charming as expected mainly due to a lady pianist who has a very light touch on the keys. If there was one criticism it is that the advertised dress code seems not to be adhered to entirely faithfuly by some, hardly the fault of the establishment though.
A magical experience! My 17 year old daughter and I loved every minute.
Beautiful setting, food good, but not 5*, Service not at all at our expectation. They were not happy with our requests. And few times had to ask repeatedly simple tasks, like change the cup or refill the tea. We had been in better places at the same level and better attended.
I booked tea at the Savoy as it was listed on many websites as one of the best afternoon teas in London. First, let me say the price was astronomical. It was 85 quid plus a 12.5% service charge. In US dollars this equates to nearly $130 dollars. I have never been to any tea in the US that cost more than 50. Including the Plaza in New York. Secondly, the servers were unattentive. They didn't serve us tea until we were finished with all our sandwiches and halfway through our scones. They did, however, provide extra sandwiches once we finished them. We couldn't eat all the desserts, so we asked for a to go box. Apparently that doesn't mean the same thing in the US as it does in London and they did not put the food we requested in the box. The food was overall fairly good, but I have had much better tea for fractions of the price. Needless to say, next time I will be having my tea elsewhere.
This was our second visit and again we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The finger sandwiches were delicious and they will keep them coming as long as you ask for them. The fancies were a nice mix and very tasty.
Superb. Fantastic for a special memorable experience. Great music
It's our go to place for a wonderful afternoon tea. I wouldn't change a thing! Fabulous staff, amazing food. It's worth every penny.
Having experienced many afternoon teas in established hotels there is one big thing let’s the Savoy down.
That is the dress code of other clientele. You do state a dress code, however it is not enforced which sadly lets the hotel down. The ambience is ruined when others are not abiding to dress code and wearing ripped jeans, hoody tops, denims and jogging pants.
I mentioned this to the maitre d’ who informed me that staff can’t enforce the dress code.
May I state other establishments do and if you aren’t dressed correctly it’s simple you are refused entry.
Is the Savoy so desperate for money it won’t turn people away? To maintain a standard.
Hence I wouldn’t recommend the hotel to anyone or return.
have to say this was an experience I would love to repeat! apart from a small wait before being seated everything was just amazing. My friend and I were really looked after and made to feel very welcome and relaxed. Veronica and Brigita (?) looked after us from beginning to end. Nothing was too much trouble.I would recommend this to anyone for a special occasion. thank you Savoy!
Absolutely flawless, great staff, friendly, the best afternoon tea
Afternoon tea at the Savoy is fantastic!
We enjoyed our time tremendously!
Would recommend it for special occasions.
This was for a very special day and when the staff were told of the occasion they brought out a cake especially for me with congratulations written in chocolate. What a surprise!! The staff were really courteous and helpful and service was second to none. The variety of teas was amazing. The sandwiches and cakes were delicious. I loved every minute. The atmosphere was set off beautifully by the piano music in the background.
My friends and family had a wonderful time and thought it was a wonderful way to round off the day!!
I would recommend the Saoy to anyone celebrating a special occasion
It is a great experience and the staff are very helpful and pleasant. The food is delicious and it is just a shame you can only stay a maximum of two hours.
Enjoyable experience Service excellent and catered well for gluten free dietPerhaps only niggle was cold tea but being picky .
Booked as a celebration for a significant birthday for a family of four. We were greeted and shown to the table by the piano by the friendly staff, who then introduced the menu options. We had the Traditional Afternoon with a glass of champagne. The food and drink was fresh and delicious. The service was friendly, discreet but prompt. Having mentioned that it was my wife’s birthday but not asking for anything, around halfway through, the staff brought out a slice of birthday case, candle, and the pianist played a short blast of Happy Birthday. It was lovely, and my wife was in tears.
A truly unforgettable occasion in a beautiful setting with first class, friendly service.
If you are going to do an afternoon tea, just do it at the Savoy!
Fabulous food in a beautiful location with piano accompaniment. A decadent special treat. We can recommend the High Tea to reduce the sweet nature of the Afternoon Tea to a perfect level. The main dish we had was delicious & the little Birthday treat arranged for my friend was perfectly done. Service was a little slow although attentive when available.
The service was certainly not up to scratch and what you would expect from somewhere with such a reputation. From being made to wait for our table in a 'holding area' with only 4 seats available to still not having any food 45 minutes after our appointment time was not what we expected and certainly not in line with other hotels we have had afternoon tea at.
Oh where do I start, first off this was a treat for my wife on her birthday and the Savoy team made it very special. From the moment we went into the hotel we were made to feel really welcome and special, what a well trained team. We have had afternoon tea at the plaza in NYC but the Savoy team blew the Plaza out of the water, the plaza is not in the same league. I can’t fault one thing in the whole afternoon, i can’t praise the staff enough, they were awesome, I will definitely return the next time we plan a trip to London.
Service was appalling. Very slow. Was given an hour to eat sandwiches so waited a long time to eat sweets. From 2.30 I wanted a cup of tea because the pot had gone cold. Had to stop a waitress to ask. When she returned with tea I asked for fresh milk. This arrived 15mins later after I’d asked for the second time. By the time it finally arrived the tea was once again cold. Not impressed that we only got one of each type of cake and when our cake stand arrived it was incomplete because some of the cakes were still in the oven! This meant eating warm cake when it finally arrived. Outraged that I was forced to pay for service. This is the worst service I have ever known.
Afternoon tea at the savoy is a wonderful experience from the moment you get out the taxi. Staff are so friendly and put you at ease. As expected the food and service couldn’t be faulted and was a really special experience
Afternoon Tea at the Savoy was a real treat and didn't disappoint. The only criticism was that we were booked for 3pm and were held in the lobby for about 10 minutes before being escorted to our table. However it didn't spoil our afternoon but was something I think they should address.
It was a lovely setting, spacious and bright, however the pianist didn’t play for the first hour between 1 and 2pm.
Food was very good and the staff kept offering top ups. The only negative I would say Is they asked us to move to the nearby restaurant to finish off at 1.50pm and were quite pushy about it too. The coffee served was cold and to be honest the worst I’ve ever had!
In conclusion, lovely tea but doesn’t touch The Dorchester!
60th Birthday Treat!
Spent a fantastic afternoon having tea with my husband to celebrate my birthday. The ambience was delightful, very talented pianist played some wonderful music; staff were extremely courteous and very informative on all the delights to be eaten! Huge variety of sandwiches and pastries. A wonderful afternoon and hugely recommended!! 🤗
I booked this as a birthday treat for my daughter and one of her friends. The setting gorgeous as always, and our waitress was v helpful and polite. However, I assumed I had placed an order using this medium, but, we were allowed to elect what we wanted on the day. As we wanted to share and experience all the tastes, we opted for 2 x high teas and 1 x afternoon tea. When asked who was to have what, I said we wished to share all, as one of our group is vegetarian, but wanted to experience from each serving; the waiter grimaced at me, I mean a very distinctive sour faced grimace. My guests and I were shocked! Also, despite pre-ordering a bottle of champagne, it was served warm. Traditionally this has always been my favourite tea place, perhaps we were just unlucky on the day.
We had a wonderful afternoon tea celebrating a 16th birthday. I emailed some dietary requirements to the Savoy and notified them of the Birthday celebration about a week before we went. I received a prompt reply saying they would look after us and they did. Warm greeting, lovely table, attentive service and of course delicious sandwiches and cakes. Impressed with the selection and the fact that you can have more if you want. We took home a box of the cakes we couldn’t finish. Wonderful touch when the pianist started playing “Happy Birthday “ and bought the birthday girl a small cake with lit candle and a lovely card. Memorable 10 out of 10.
It was everything I expected and more. The perfect afternoon tea in an idyllic location. From the moment I stepped out of the the car to the moment I stepped back into it I was on cloud 9.
amazing service just a lovely atmosphere generous with sandwiches and all round lovely day
I wore “smart” black jeans (fitted) with shoes and an open collar shirt. A few people were in trainers but as a whole everyone was dressed very well.
Food was amazing and plentiful as they simply kept bringing you fresh plates when empty throughout the duration.
There was a live pianist playing gentle melodies. Some upbeat and others more ranging towards to the romantic from musicals to classical compositions.
The whole experience lasted for an hour and forty five minutes and was very impressive.
I would highly recommend this warm, friendly and highly professional service for everyone to enjoy at least once.
Beautiful surroundings, wonderful food & service, very much enjoyed & would love to do again :)
Excellent Afternoon tea in beautiful surroundings. The tables are spaced well apart so there is an sense of privacy for every party. Very attentive service. The food was all excellent and lovely choice of tea.
Amazing! Such a worthwhile experience. Can’t wait to go back!
My wife and I visited as part of my birthday celebrations in January and had a wonderful afternoon. The staff were friendly and solicitous, the food a delight and the ambience quite grand, as you might expect. Along with a couple of other people in the room, I was even brought my own little birthday cake as the pianist played Happy Birthday. This was a very nice touch.
A pleasant experience but one I won't rush to repeat. The place is very noisy: not calm at all. This was not helped by being seated next to a large table (6 or 8 at times) where a gentleman was conducting what seemed to be a series of sales pitches, with various people arriving at different times, making a lot of fuss each time. Not great! We like the afternoon tea ethos but this was not the best we have experienced.
Very quiet - no atmosphere. Sandwiches very salty. Filming for Gordon Ramsey show so not a great experience to be signed a waiver on arrival at restaurant. Vegan mayonnaise on a tart with shrimps - makes no sense?! Limited selection of cakes.
Initially we waited 20 min although we were on time there and the table we were given was empty at the time of our arrival. After we were sat, we waited another 15 min for the waitress to welcome us. The food was ok. Nothing special. I’ve been to other popular hotel’s afternoon tea in London and clearly say that they can wipe the floor with Savoy. Will never come back.
