Lovely setting , staff very polite and well presented. Lovely food and great service . Highly recommend.
Beautiful food and the staff were lovely, so attentive and polite.
The special message and macaroons for our anniversary was lovely.
Excellent staff, service and food. It was outstanding all round.
Had such a lovely afternoon tea at Wivenhoe House. I let the staff know that it was my dad's birthday and they organised to bring him out a 'happy birthday' plate which really made his day! The food was lovely and all the staff were really friendly and attentive. Would definitely come back here again!
We had a lovely time. This was a gift for my birthday Service was good but could been a little more attentive.
Food was very good. The service before the day was good. I appreciated the phone call to ask about food allergies etc and checking all was correct covid wise.
The best afternoon tea! Lovely staff! Would highly recommend!
Very nice, staff friendly, service great, food nice, location spot on
Very enjoyable afternoon staff were very friendly and attentive which was lovely. The scones were not as god as they have been before qute dry and resembled rock cakes and the alchololic drinks were expensive. The venue and staff were lovely and the sandwiches were nice and fresh.
Will will definately consider another visit but maybe when we can book for the house and a room.
Service was fantastic, with complimentary cocktails and they even brought out a free decorated desert for my partner as it was their birthday.
Food was really good and plenty of it. Will definitely be going back.
My friend and I really enjoyed my birthday treat of afternoon tea which we complemented with a glass of Prosecco or two.
Beautiful room, lovely ambience, attentive friendly staff, fabulous food!
Lovely afternoon tea. Very pleased to see the outstanding COVID-19 precautions being taken - I’ve not seen anywhere else where the card machine was wiped down for each new client. Brilliant
Overall it was very good considering the conditions of covid-19 and the way they have to serve in the way it is now
The service provided was upto the mark. Food quality and taste was absolutely delish. Loved the welcome drink.
Lovely surroundings, beautiful house. Afternoon tea was lovely. Definitely recommend
Lovely setting at the venue, service and staff were very attentive and professional. Good selection for the afternoon tea including 2 different scones each! We had to take some cakes home as there was so much.
A lovely afternoon and we had a walk around the grounds afterwards. Great time had by all thank you.
Luxury afternoon tea is served in the grade 2 Wivenhoe House rather than in the modern brasserie adjacent to it. The red bricked 18th century house is very striking and the high ceilinged rooms inside are very beautiful —- with lovely views.
Staff were extremely friendly and the food excellent. A nice touch was complimentary alcohol free sparkling wine.
Our table was dirty and no one noticed .
I was extremely disappointed in the crockery used, I expected china which is cheap and easy to obtain. I would expect your crockery in a café. This really ruined the ambiance of the occasion.
The hot water was delivered in an open jug so the water was cold when we wanted to use it.
From booking to paying the bill it was all first class .
The food was gorgeous and there was plenty of it, so much so we had a box to take some home.
The pastries were exceptional and I was told they were all made on site .
The only negative was the room lacked the character which there is in the lounges In the older part of the hotel .
Birthday afternoon tea at lunchtime with a friend and was just perfect. Very attentive staff
Excellent experience in a lovely setting with attentive but not overbearing staff. Will be back.
Couldn't falter the food at all; very fresh sandwiches and delicious cakes. The only thing was the tea was a bit cold but overall it was 👌🏽
Afternoon tea , the cakes were flavourless and just over all wouldn’t be somewhere we’d recommend
Lovely family visit for afternoon tea. Staff were friendly, attentive and accommodating and the food and drinks were delicious and really great value! Loved that we could take our leftovers home to enjoy later.
Loved it! Everything was perfect for our afternoon tea. Comfortable setting, excellent service, really fresh yummy cakes and sandwiches. Importantly for us, no piped music playing so was very relaxed and we could chat. We'll definitely return for our anniversary next year.
Despite paying for afternoon tea in the banqueting suite, we were shoved in the basement in what resembled a hospital canteen. No prior notice was given about this. No explanation I was embarrassed. Another party left. Refills on tea and coffee not offered.
Scones were cold and dry. Very claggy. Toilets were out of use.
We’re told to look at the wine list online but nobody could get a signal because we were in the basement!! So we didn’t bother ordering alcoholic drinks. Most places are offering paper menus for this purpose.
Very poor day. Very upsetting.
Cakes were nice.
A beautifully presented afternoon tea and plenty of selection of cakes. The outside area was a perfect setting made comfortable by large gazebos.
Really lovely food and service, very Covid 19 safe!
delicious afternoon tea served by attentive stuff in convivial surrounds
thank you
Excellent service and food as always at Wivenhoe House. Plenty of outside seating, which was popular.
Lovely time, we have asked to be seated outside and all looked lovely. Really pleased with the entire experience.
Upon arrival we were greeted with a friendly welcome then taken to the tea room
We were offered tea / coffee straight away which was then brought out a few mins later along with non alcoholic Prosecco, followed by sandwiches and cakes which were scrumptious
Our waitress who was lovely checked on us and offered more drinks
Would definitely recommend and will return for afternoon tea again
Very nice , sandwiches fresh, plenty of cakes.had to bring some home, fruit in scones needs to be boiled first, stops the fruit from being dry and hard and the scone from drying out.
Used to do different breads, this has obviously been changed...shame as did enjoy .
Complimentary mocktail was delicious and pleasant surprise.
Staff very pleasant.
It was lovely. Felt very apprehensive to go out into a restaurant since COVID19 but all the staff were really lovely and welcoming.
No students, no customers apart from ourselves. So, quiet. Excellent - personal - service from the Frenchman waiting on. We received attentive service and an excellent high tea. And all this done under the influence of a burgeoning coronavirus crisis. A wonderful last hurrah.
The best place to take afternoon tea.
We had not been for a long while. But was just the same high standard.
It was just a bit cold in the room otherwise very good
We asked For more sandwiches and we’re told it would be another £4 each . We have been to many afternoon teas around the Essex area and thus was the first time we were asked to pay extra
Service was ok, could have been better as they saw that we are young and decided that we dont have to be treated with the correct service. But i think that everyone has equal rights and that everyone should be treated the same without discriminating how young we look or how we look. Apart from that everything was great.
Wonderful setting, professional and attentive staff, good value, food is good, overall a lovely afternoon tea experience
