Afternoon Teas at The Grosvenor Hotel
Hostess could not find reservation so she informed other stuff we didn’t have one. Food took ages to come to the table and those that arrived after us were served before us. One of the severs then lied to our face and told us a special plate was being served to us. However we ended up with the same plates as everyone else. In regards to the sandwiches, they are average, the cakes are boring. I really wished I could have booked somewhere else, but as we were staying the hotel we thought it was best.
The restaurant did not have our reservation, which seemed to be a big deal, even though they were not busy. I showed her the confirmation on my phone and we were eventually offered a lovely seat by the window. Service was slow and the waitress would disappear for long periods of time. We had mentioned when we ordered that we were having the tea and champagne and would most likely add on a second glass. She never came back to check on us and I had to find her to order and find her again later to pay. Poor service for a very nice hotel.
We had a lovely time and the service was amazing. Nice people and very helpful. I’ll come back that’s for sure !
On arrival they had no record of our Open Table booking. Not a great start, but fortunately they found us a table.
Staff were very accommodating with our food requirement - great value for money, but it’s no Dorchester.
We enjoyed it.
Special occasion, mother’s 80 birthday. Very disappointed on arrival that they were unaware of my reservation!! Very embarrassing as the this was a surprise for my mother. I was asked to prove my booking, which was on my phone. We were then asked to wait for a while. A table was quickly made up for us but this all seemed very rushed and unprofessional. Waitress was very friendly. Sandwiches were disappointing, very dry. Overall I was very upset and disappointed and would certainly not recommend The Grosvenor to others. Certainly not value for money. I expected far better service from such a popular and prestigious venue.
We arriveed at our chosen time of 6pm and was immedietely told that Open Table should not have given us this time as they closed at 6pm. At this point we should have left but made the mistake of experiencing the worst afternoon tea we have ever eaten.
The sandwiches were not as described,a random one containing nothing but chopped olives was added.
The scones were solid and dry, hardly any cream and cheap pots of jam.
The cakes consisted mainly of mousse.
Rather a disappointing afternoon tea. Service wasn’t too bad but the quality of food particularly the rock hard scones and almost frozen clotted cream (or butter it was hard to tell!). Jam was supplied from those stingy individual breakfast jars. Scones were rock hard. Sandwiches were fresh. Not a place I would recommend for afternoon tea!!
Good afternoon tea. Good sandwiches and scones. Just the cheesecakes were not good (humid biscuit: not crunchy).
