What Insiders Are Saying
A West Village Mexican spot with good margaritas and a great bottomless brunch deal.
More Mexican than southwest, which disappointed me. Everything was just ok. The server was nice, good Margaritas, decent guacamole. The hostess was indifferent.
Came for bottomless boozy brunch to catch up with a friend. Fabulous time!
Food was fabulous, staff was delightful. Very attentive, offered suggestions, our glasses were never empty.
Worst service I have every experienced in NYC. Period. We stood at the host station for 10 minutes waiting to speak to someone. We didn't get napkins or silver after our appetizers arrived and had to ask for them TWICE after that. We once had to ask FOUR times before our water was refilled. The drinks are really skimpy and not cheap. The food was actually not bad (the chicken enchilada was very good), but the service was so bad I don't think I could go back even for a free meal.
Great frozen margaritas. Go happy hour for good deals.
The ambiance sells this place! Gorgeous setting in the heart of Chelsea (not near the projects)! Food was great, service great and price was decent!
The guacamole was good however the chips were stale. Then we ordered chicken and fish tacos. The chicken tacos were not impressive and the fish tacos tasted like unmarinated fish. Super disappointed. Maybe this place is only good for brunch on the weekends.
Food and service were good! Only problem we had was that our table was located close to the door with no fans, and it was a little uncomfortable for such a hot day.
Food was gorgeous and you can’t go wrong with bottomless margaritas! Unfortunately service wasn’t great but they were quite busy
Went here for bottomless brunch and it was FABULOUS. Our waitress was wonderful and continuously kept coming back to refill our drinks (often before we were even finished), and portions for the entrees were big and filling. Best brunch ever!
The staff were really friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. My friends and I had a lovely evening.
They were so accommodating to my party! There was a mixup with the reservation time but they opened early to make sure we could be seated at the original time. Will definitely return!
We went here for our birthday celebration. Awesome food and outdoor seating. The Benedict eggs are fantastic! I would eat there every day!!!
Awesome brunch special, bottomless drinks.
However there were several large groups when we arrived and the hostess tried to put us in between them even though we had a reservation. Way too loud for 2 people, so we requested to be reseated. Overall a good experience.
Great happy hour specials on the margaritas, food is fresh and good size portions, great place to meet for afterwork bites/drinks
Agave has been one of our go-to spots for years. Though only one friend still lives in the neighborhood, it's access to transportation (subway) allows the rest of us to get there easily. We know we can be a little louder than normal, enjoy some great bites and cocktails for a decent price. Glad to know it's still around.
I reserved space at Agave to have dinner with a few close friends for my birthday. The atmosphere was cozy and warm, the staff was friendly and the food was delicious. Highly recommend the costillas entreé and the tres leches dessert.
Me and my friend went for bottomless brunch at Agarve and had a wonderful time. I went for the Mexican eggs benedict and my meal was divine. We got two hours of unlimited drinks and I would really recommend the frozen Magarita. The waiters were very attentive and friendly. We chose to dine at Agarve at 2pm on a Wednesday so we were actually the only people in the restaurant at the time however I have heard that it is usually packed so I would recommend booking.
The food was not appealing at all!! The server was nice but appeared to be all by herself. She needed assistance. They give you a two hour limit but you see your server ever 20 min
Always a great time at Agave. Wished that the service was a lot more attentive..
Overall it was great. Really enjoyed my meal and ambiance.
My friend and I had planned a beach day but the weather did not want to comply, so we decided to go to brunch. I had heard good things about AGAVE so I made a reservation that morning and we were on our way. We had an incredible brunch, the staff could not have been more cordial and fun. The only complaint that I have is that the music level was so high, it made it difficult to talk over. NYC is so noisy all the time that when you want to visit with friends, it not good to compete with a sounds system, you end up losing in the end.
We LOVE Agave! We eat there every time we are in ATL.
Reservation was at 2 PM and we didn’t sit down until 2:45 PM. They said brunch ended at 4:30 which was fine but that would cut our 2 hours unlimited short. Didn’t bring out the birthday dessert at all. First refill took 30 minutes.
Fun place, good happy hour margaritas!
I have never left a negative review in my life, but I have to say I was very disappointed in my experience at Agave. A few of my friends highly recommended Agave, so I decided to do brunch their on my birthday with a few friends. When I got there at 11 AM for my reservation the place was completely closed. Tables were not set, the lights were not on, and the chef and waiters were not there yet. Being that this was my birthday and I came with friends, I was worried and upset. The staff was very nice and tried to make the experience the best it could be given the situation. However, I do not understand how I could have made a reservation and had that reservation confirmed and it says on the website that its open, when in reality the restaurant was not open yet, and honestly did not seem anywhere near open. I called the manager the next day to simply explain my frustration and suggest they do not allow people to make reservation for a certain time if the restaurant is closed. I left a message and never heard back. Again, I am not one to write a negative review ever, but I feel that this is unacceptable. I am bummed because I only had heard wonderful things about Agave from friends before, but I don't think I will return after what happened on my birthday.
It was so hot and humid inside, the waitstaff was under staffed so we waited forever just to order drinks. Multiple waiters helped me
This restaurant has cockroaches. We saw two climbing on the walls near the kitchen during our meal. Would NOT RECOMMEND dining here.
I loved it! Fast Service. Great Management.
They were very accommodating to move our reservation back an hour and add another guest to the party, but once we were actually seated and ordered margaritas and chips, it took an hour for our waiter to take our entree order, even thought at this point (at 10:30pm) we were one of few parties in the restaurant. We ended up paying without ordering entrees.
Our waitress and all of the rest of the staff were amazing.
Brunch food was good though I was jealous of my friend’s breakfast burrito. Wait staff were very friendly and made sure our drinks were never empty. They are strict with the 2 hour time limit however for us that was plenty of time. They were 5 mins late seating us (it was very busy) and that’s when they started the 2 hour limit from, so you don’t miss out. Would definitely come here again.
This place was our first choice because of all of the great reviews and word of mouth. We travelled from Toronto, Canada mostly because of the bottomless brunch. The staff were awesome and their was not a moment where we didn’t have a full glass. I would suggest getting the piture of margarita over the mimosa because the ratio is better with the margarita and if you’re looking for that day buzz, it will do the trick! The mimosa is majority orange juice but still yummy.
The food was alright, nothing to write home about but they had great options. I would suggest visiting because of the ambiance and the bottomless brunch option. I would return for sure! Make sure you book in advance because they fill up fast. Ask to sit in the covered patio area because it’s sooooo hot in the summer and there are no shady spots other than what I mentioned. Overall, great staff, great drink service and great options for all dietary restrictions!
One of the best bottomless brunches in the city with the strongest Margaritas!
Overall great, chips were fairly stale. Great guac and tacos!
I've been here twice and I've enjoyed my experience here both times. The food is tasty and the staff is really nice and friendly. My only qualm is that sometimes the waiters are hard to reach when you are in need of something. Overall, this place has great customer service. My friend ordered fries with her quesadilla but never received them when she got her quesadilla. When our waiter was made aware of this, he gave her the fries on the house. Will definitely come back here.
The waiter never checked on us. We got our food before the drinks, that were supposed to be bottomless...we got 2 drinks in an hour time span.
I come to Agave a lot and love it. However, this visit was disappointing. The waiter barely came and checked in. It took a very long time to receive drinks and when they came, they were all wrong.
I enjoyed the brunch so much. The endless mimosas and the food were awesome. I can't wait to go back and try a different dish. I had the Energy Breakfast and it was so flavorful. I did not expect to enjoy it as much as I did.
