My waiter brought me a coffee cup with lukewarm coffee and a pre-used spoon still dripping in honey. I pointed out that I thought the cup may have been used and brought to me in error. The waiter vehemently denied that this could be the case. He offered to bring me a new cup to which I replied that I didn't want any more coffee. He ignored my response and brought me a new cup of coffee instead. While I was paying the bill he once again went on how there was no possible way I could have received a dirty cup. After all this fuss, to my surprise I was still charged the $4.85 for coffee. Don't mind paying for the coffee under normal circumstances but considering the fact the cup was dirty to the point I asked it to be taken away, I was dismayed to see I was still charged for it.
Outstanding experience right from being greeted at the front door upon our arrival, thru to the last bite of our dessert.
Looking forward to our next dining experience at Bistro!
Great food at a reasonable price. Service is very good and the atmosphere is relaxed. Always a good experience.
I really enjoy the AGO bistro and would not hesitate to go back. The only constructive criticism that I would offer is that the prix fixe choices were a little limited. However, the food is really good and it is a nice atmosphere, with very pleasant service.
A nice place to eat and drink after a day of seeing great arts.
Excellent in every way. The mango sorbet was a burst of refreshing flavour. The pasta was outstanding! Prompt attentive service.
Greeting was excellent.Table was accessible as requested.Menu choices very limited.Disappointing. Price for bread excessive though it was good.Quality of food was good.Portions skimpy.
Servers pleasant but service was a bit slow.
As museum restaurants go this one is of a high quality. There is an interesting drinks menu and a lot of the food sounded delicious in a modern space. However, I found the food we ordered to be mediocre and I expected more for the price range. I also have a pepper allergy so there were many things I couldn’t eat and the options I were given were simply dishes with items taken out instead of substitutes, which I have become accustomed to for this type of restaurant (ex. roasted vegetable salad came without roasted vegetables and nothing to replace it). That being said the service was great and my fellow guests enjoyed their meals so if you don’t have an allergies it seems like a great post museum option.
Have been several times and menu remains consistently interesting and delicious. Staff efficient and courteous.
Meal was different and delicious . Great presentation
Noise level is high
Always great service and love the atmosphere. Food was adequate but nothing remarkable. Perhaps I should not have ordered special. Most of the time we are happy with food.
The food was creative AND delicious. Although the restaurant was very busy, service was very good.
Great food and service, a bit pricey but not over the top and it's convenient to the gallery of course!
VERY unappealing menu choices! Would not go back.
It's a nice place to relax and eat after doing the gallery rounds at the AGO.
One of my favourite restraints in the GTA, they never disappoint.
New year day brunch
The scones were delicious and warm, just as expected. The seafood platter was the right portion, I would decrease the amount of parsley added though. Mussels were right on point! The main course was also well portioned but the additional side dishes that are included were probably not needed and by the time we were done, there was no place for dessert. The berry pavlova was too sweet and the meringue quite eggy. One thing I noticed was that other tables had their dishes being described each time they were served, but the same waiter did not bother with us.
Amazing! Great food. Lovely service. We couldn’t have asked for a better spot to celebrate the new year
Meal was delicious, our server was spectacular.
We met friends for a new year’s get together. Service was very attentive especially to one of our group with a food allergy.
The space is very pleasant and the food beautifully presented. The menu varies with the exhibit subjects at the Art Gallery of Ontario. We are frequent visitors.
The food and service was very good. I always look forward to eating here.
Had a lovely brunch and our waiter Marc was AMAZING!
A great - and convenient - way to end time at the AGO. We weren't rushed, and the server was very attentive and accommodating.
Three for Brunch at the AGO Bistro. Nice Room, nice ambiance. Seated right away with a reservation. Server was new, very nice and personable backed up by a silent fantastic experienced professional server who returned with what you needed before you blinked. The cheapest bottle of wine was $50 which I think is expensive for Saturday Brunch ...I picked the Sauvignon Blanc from France which was excellent but I would suggest the addition of a few cheaper bottles to the wine list so that all snack brackets are served. Everything else was terrific ...my party enjoyed their delicious eggs Benedict brunch and I had the steak and frites special ...with an egg (not really necessary) and the three of us shared two desserts the bread pudding and the tart both with ice cream and three cappuccinos ...very yummy...with tax and tip $200...I would definitely go again.
All aspects of our visit to AGO Bistro were wonderful. The service and cuisine were superb. The atmosphere was delightful. Thank you AGO!
A special Christmas girls lunch ( followed by a gallery tour.). Lunch was just perfect & fantastic, we did not want to leave! One of us was a vegan and found her menu choices to be absolutely spectacular. The regular menu was equally as delicious. Elegant, beautiful and mouth wateringly scrumptious food. We have already decided to bring some other friends for dinner. Rare to find such high quality and inventive food. We were knocked out. You have 3 new fans.
Good food and good service, as well a convenient for a night out.
We ate steak, pasta and seafood, all well prepared and delicious. The a candle on a great dessert plate!
The food was good, as was the service, but, during a one hour meal, we were asked four times, How's everything. Nice to know that you care, but that's a little excessive. It starts to feel less like customer service and more like 'interruption'.
We had an INCREDIBLE lunch at the AGO bistro. Thank you for accommodating vegetarian Prix Fare options. I will be dreaming of those mushrooms with beluga lentils until I return. Thank you.
Delicious food. We had such a good waiter. He suggested several items we could share. It was correct with each choice. He came by several times to check ad it was all done wit such humor and experience. As a matter of fact when I told my daughter about this wonderful waiter she described him. She had also had him as her waiter ad thought he was great.
Excellent food, very good and attentive service. A bit noisier and busier than we older folks prefer, but we would certainly go again next time we’re at the AGO.
I had the prix fixe menu. Soup and dessert were outstanding. The steak was excellent meat. But why is it so difficult in Canada to get a "rare" (what I ordered) that is rare more or less throughout the meat? The default option in Canada seems to be "medium rare" even though I explicitly ordered "rare". The fries were simply inadequate; not quite soggy, but getting there, and way overcooked so that most were black-dark brown.
The wine is simply overpriced for what you get: $ 18 for an 8 oz. glass of competent wine? Outrageous! Too many Toronto restaurants are making easy money off "competent but nothing special" wines.
The food, as always, was exceptional and our waitress was really thoughtful, helpful and made our experience special.
Nice environment and good food.
We had a very good time on Sunday brunch with tasty food and great service from the staff. We’re welcomed in a warm environment and enjoyed family time together
Nice for after gallery - a bit expensive considering food is ok
Really enjoy dining at the AGO Bistro. They have a changing menu and the quality of the food and presentation is always wonderful. We had brunch on Sunday and the eggs Benedict was delicious, the eggs cooked perfectly and the croissant was flaky. Service was prompt but not rushed. Coffee and water refills arrived without having to be requested. Overall a great way to start or end a visit to the AGO.
