AK Cafe at Albright-Knox Art Gallery
Great quiet place with good food and service. It never disappoints. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Not only is the food good but you can carry on a conversation which is unusual at most eating establishments in today’s world.
Service was terrific, food was delicious. The atmosphere was pleasant. Staff made us feel welcome. The café seating was handicapped accessible and the background music was at a volume that facilitated conversation. An enjoyable experience!
A great place to relax and enjoy lunch after a visit to the museum.
We had a lovely lunch at the AK Cafe. The staff was very friendly and attentive to my guest who was in a wheelchair. They did everything they could to accommodate her needs. The cobb chicken salad was delicious. We loved the dressing on the salad.
My guest rarely ventures out since her strokes and the Albright-Knox staff was just wonderful from the moment we entered until we left. We felt welcomed!!! The staff helped me navigate getting her into bathrooms and helped me get the wheelchair over the thresholds. I was very grateful for their help and would appreciate it if you would share this with your staff.
Thank you so much for making it a wonderful experience for someone who really needed a day out!
The service was excellent and the Portuguese wine recommendation proved to be delicious! My friends and I enjoyed the lunch as much as our visit to "Human and Humble" - the wonderful Impressionist exhibit!
The iced tea was from a can, I believe, but the AK burger more than made up for it. Wow - a truly magnificent big juicy tasty burger cooked exactly the way I wanted it. When you don't have a burger very often, you want the ones you do have to be really good. It was AMAZINGLY good and actually quite memorable. I will definitely go to the AK Cafe again!
It was so pleasant to go to cafe on Mother’s Day!
It was relaxing and very good service.
What a pleasant introduction to a later superb chamber concert. The food was delicious, imaginative, and presentation excellent. The wait person, a student at Buff State, was responsive to any requests and made the meal even more enjoyable.
great spot to grab lunch and stay to view an exhibit
Had a lovely lunch before visiting the museum - absolutely will come again.
Delicious lunch, nice wine list. Server was friendly and attentive. I love the AK Cafe
My AK burger was delicious. Meat cooked perfectly, and the condiment sauces and bun were fabulous! Good bread makes the sandwich! Wait staff was slow, and seemed forgetful. Of my group of three, the comment on the quiche was that it was sub-standard. No crust or vegetable filling and more like a souffle than a quick. Espresso could have been stronger but the coffee was just right. Thank you, most enjoyable!
Luncheon was very good for the most part...soup was wonderful but quiche was very burnt.
food and service always both very good, nice place to enjoy food, and friends
Always great. Great service, great food, nice ambiance.
I took my husband to this café for his birthday before attending an event. We were blown away by how nice the dinner setting was! Every first Friday they have jazz players to set the mood. It’s very relaxing! The duck salad I had was absolutely exquisite. Prices are very reasonable. Make sure to make reservations for the evening dinner, as this fills up pretty quickly. We will definitely be back.
Always delicious & enjoyable
We enjoy having lunch at the AK Cafe anytime we visit. Lovely dining room. Great service and food. So easy to make a reservation online. Perfect way to introduce friends to the Albright-Knox before enjoying the rest of the Gallery.
We had a delicious lunch in lovely surroundings, and the service was prompt and courteous.
The quiche was awful and the turkey and brie sandwiches that we ordered were tasteless. . The sculpture garden was empty so there wasn't much to look at through the large glass wall. We have eaten at many museum restaurants. This is by far the worst.
We always enjoy eating at the AK Cafe. I had the pesto chicken sandwich which had 2 pieces of chicken and a delicious aioli sauce. The chocolate lava cake is also excellent. Sorry that our favorite waitress, Emma, no longer works there. We'll be back.
The AK Cafe is a lovely place to relax after touring the museum...or as a "pause" while at the gallery. I'm not sure I would go to the Cafe to just have lunch, without coupling it some exhibit or general gallery viewing. I have only gone for lunch and have been there when it isn't too crowded. Ergo, it is quiet and a wonderful place to visit with a friend. The large windows looking out on the courtyard are an added bonus. Our waitress was "perfect attentive"....checked on us periodically and quietly. Food was tasty (quiche and soup; tuna salad; turkey panini; steak sandwich) and we had a very good time discussing the exhibits we had seen. We weren't rushed at all...which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. And I think the prices are right in line with most of the restaurants in the area. They might be a tad bit higher, but you are also supporting the Albright-Knox Gallery. (PS...highly recommend both the "Humble and Human" and "We the People" exhibits!)
The dinner was good, but pricey. I enjoyed the jazz music. A nice plus.
Love lunching or dining at the Cafe. Always a treat at the beginning or end of a great exhibit visit. Love the ahi tuna salad. Happy Hour on First Fridays with jazz duo is lovely.
I arrived early for lunch, and my friend was late. I was seated at my table for about 20 minutes waiting. The servers were very friendly and attentive. I was offered beverages, given fresh water refills, and checked on just frequently enough.
The dining room is bright and lovely. The soup was perfect, the duck breast salad was delicious. We were so comfortable, we stayed later to have a cup of tea. The staff never rushed us. It was a perfect lunch experience. I highly recommend the AK Cafe.
Great place for a break while museum hopping. Well prepared dishes, good solid service.
Let me start by saying this was our first visit, and it was at 6pm on a First Friday, 1/4/19. A volunteer at the door said he had not seen the Gallery this crowded in the previous 18 months ago. It was a great crowd for the Gallery. That, however, turned into a packed Cafe. The waiting line for the bar encircled our dinner table. Not desirable. The bar waiting line patrons all talked loudly as the room was crowded, had live music, and this was Happy Hour time. Again, not desirable for diners. A full + cafe made for wait staff inefficiency, due to people standing in their way. Our table for 2 ordered a sandwich and a salad, both delivered in approximately 35 minutes. The special order sandwich was ordered correctly by hand by the waitress; it was not special order prepared by the chef. When delivered, the waitress flew off to her other tables, and I chose not to wait for her to return to complain. Good thing; I finally flagged her down after 20 minutes or so. The waitress spoke with her manager and did take the special order sandwich off our bill. Thank you. I steak on both the salad and sandwich was nicely prepared; I will give you that! We will not return to the cafe for a dinner when there is live music and a Free Friday. I suspect we'll never return, but might stop in if it is less than half full someday. The acoustics were rather poor for the music and vocals; I do not know if this was due to capacity crowd or the space in general. I would suggest, if licenses permit, that a temporary bar and larger music space somewhere in the Gallery house the Happy Hour music. Leave diners alone; the Happy Hour patrons were somewhat obnoxious, as really, they should be allowed to be.
Perfect to catch up with a good friend who enjoys Art and a peaceful atmosphere! If you can, visit during the holidays and catch the Christmas tree! Outstanding
This use to be a great place but sadly the quality of the food has gone down while price has gone up
Always enjoy lunch at the AK Cafe before taking in the latest exhibits at the gallery. Great food and service at a reasonable price.
Portions are small for the price. Very long wait for our meals. Lovely place to meet friends for lunch but the food is just average.
Not happy. I was charged for parking when I was only going to the restaurant. Our meal took forever to come and then the burger was so rare we had to send it back. We got no onions that we asked for. And the sculpture garden (ha) has no sculptures in it!
Dear Margaret, I am sorry if your experience at the Albright-Knox could have been better. Parking fees are used directly to support the Gallery. To learn more about the removal of the sculptures information can be found online at albrightknox.org/blog/inside-ak-outdoor-sculpture-move. The burger is a very popular menu item and we hope you’ll give us another chance so we can give you the excellent service we are known for. Sincerely, Cory; Assistant Restaurant Manager (716.270.8223)
We had the quiche and soup, food was delicious, service was great and fast. The amounts served were a bit small.
Nice, relaxing atmosphere... great place to have a meal before exploring this amazing gallery!
Lunch or dinner always a great experience before Art of Jazz concerts (and other times, too). Great food and service with a relaxed ambiance.
We love the AK cafe. The food was actually very good and nicely presented, though a little pricey. The service was great and the room was very comfortable. We have been to the cafe on several occasions and have always been happy. It is especially nice when it is possible to eat outdoors in the courtyard. My only complaint, and this has not been an issue before, was the serving of a small burger bun, prior to the meal, to be eaten with very bitter olive oil. I believe that such poor quality bread and olive oil is not in keeping with the excellent cuisine and goal of a relatively upscale restaurant. They would do well to purchase better quality olive oil and forget the bread if packaged rolls is the best they can serve.
Very nice lunch spot. Great options and always delicious.
Out of town guests
Lovely serene place for lunch, looking out at the sculpture court. The menu is creative and generally excellent, good service, not cheap but not overly pricy either. My only quibble was my salad was slightly under-dressed and I couldn't get the attention of the waiter to get more dressing. Otherwise it's a great place for lunch!
Great settings for Friday nights, we enjoyed the music and the food!
We were impressed with the art collection!
