Akira Sushi Bento Box
True Japanese atmosphere, dinner at Akira is like a trip to Tokyo! The food is fantastic, I would recommend the Robata Omakase.
Great service. The restaurant prepared a really nice dessert plate for our wedding anniversary.
Sushi done properly, anything else isn't sushi. I'd recommend the bento boxes and sake
Amazing.experience, great food and presentation, lovely ambience as well
The dining environment is really good, but the food is more like a british Japanese food rather than Japanese Japanese food. The servers are really sweet.
Little bit underwhelming. Some very good items and I'd have to go back to assess more broadly but there's a style over substance issue I think. Had better fish at much lower prices. Huge markups on the wine. Some things are outstanding (wagyu beef wrapped in kimchi cabbage) and maybe I should go a la carte. Not memorable.
Authentic Japanese cuisine with the Bento boxes filled with an extraordinary range of tastes. Definitely worth a visit for a culinary experience
Food is outstanding, service a bit slow and confused also they forgot it was a special occasion
Great place and great food!
Came to Akira again for their bento 🍱 boxes, brought along 2 additional friends to try them. The food is as delicious as last time, however, the service was a bit lacking from a high end Japanese restaurant. The waitress practically just dropped the bento boxes onto the table and left, without providing explanation on the items in the bento, very disappointing and little unprofessional in Japanese standard. We had a great meal nevertheless and my friends enjoyed it too, without knowing what all the little dishes are named.
Authentic Japanese cuisine and high quality food. A little piece of Japan in London, not too tarnished by Western tastes, keeping it true to its origins.
Thoroughly enjoyed the food, service and ambience. Would definitely recommend Akira, one of the best Japanese restaurants I've been to in London!
Loved this place, the food the staff , it's a treat for the senses.
I had been keen to try Akira Restaurant for a while, after discovering it while browsing the store downstairs. The perfect occasion arose when I needed to find an interesting place to take a friend who was visiting from overseas.
Overall it was a good choice, my friend was very pleased with the salmon don, said it was both delicious and filling. I tried the very eye catching sushi bento which on the whole I enjoyed, however, there were a few dishes that I really didn’t like at all, so I doubt that I would order the same bento box again but I’m glad that I tried it.
On the whole it’s on the pricey side for lunch, so we were pleased to see the discount on our bill, which I had forgotten about when booking the available deal, so that somewhat took the sting out of it.
On the negative side, the wait staff were not very attentive and we needed to flag them down by raising hands on a few occasions rather than just catching their eyes. They were slow to action requests and after asking for coffee at the end of our meal and being told that someone would be sent over to take that order, we gave up waiting and just requested the bill before leaving.
Akira needs to work on its service but the food was nice and interesting.
Afternoon Tea at Akira was a treat. The restaurant was full but well serviced and the atmosphere was lively. The tea and desserts were tasty. I'd like to try the sushi next time!
Delicious and beautiful food, good service and with the 50% off lunch offer, made a fantastic experience. Would love to go again
Quite a decent restaurant and good value when it’s on offer.
We tried the AKIRA Bento Box usually priced at £40.
Some of the items were very tasty but some did not have any taste or the fish did not taste very good. I would say that with the -50% off deal it is an experience that is worth it but I don't think that I would go back and pay the usual price.
Also, waiters did not know how to answer about what type of sushi (fishes) that are included in the bento box.
I would give an average rating for Akira - perhaps expectations were higher given that is a restaurant that is part of Japan House.
One negative part was that although I have emailed the restaurant with birthday requests they never got back to me. Tried calling the restaurant several times and calls went to an answer machine that said "this inbox is full". So I was unable to speak to anybody at the restaurant prior to the booking.
Perfect food and friendly service. Enjoyed for bento box.
Foods were average . Nothing special to talk about .
It was my first time at Akira and it’s easy to say it was the best dining experience I’ve had it a while. definitely the beat Japanese food I have every tried, the atmosphere, service and menu was phenomenal. I really recommend this for anyone in London!
superb and authentic japanese food served by attentive staff to high standards in a fresh, modern setting
Food could be better. Tempera wasn’t good.
I expected Akira to be an authentic high end Japanese restaurant especially because it is located within Japan House building. Overall, I was rather disappointed. The Bento boxes were ok with 50% off deal but not impressive. The restaurant failed to serve rice which was supposed to come with Akira bento. Normally you would expect a staff come to ask if everything is ok after serving your meal, but we were left unattended, sadly. Saikyo salmon don was not what I expected from the name of the meal. It is unique, experimental recipe but I don’t think it was good enough to be on the menu, and too pricey for what it is. I would not be surprised if I was served that at a Japanese “greasy spoon”, or cheap student cafe, but not a place like Akira. To make my experience even worse, I received an email from Open Table after the meal saying I canceled my booking without telling them. What a poor service, the staff did not check my name when we arrived at the restaurant and therefore my booking was recorded as “no show”. I didn’t enjoy writing to Open Table to notify that we DID go to the restaurant.
Amazing as always
Slightly more authentic (less fancy) than other “westernized” top Japanese restaurants (e.g. Roka, Zuma, Nobu).
Food: Japanese haut cuisine. Second to none!
Recommended for gourmands!
Overall experience was amazing and I would definitely go back. However, they kept on getting my bill wrong, so always double check that
Absolutely divine food presented so beautifully. We had the sushi Omakase and it was like a jewel box of colours and flavours.
My vegetarian bento box was a revelation! Superb ingredients with unmatched flavours complementing one another.
We had a amazing lunch!
It was very nice atmosphere and great service.
Of course, great food too.
We chose the three course dinner menu with chicken skewers and lamb. The individual dishes were chosen by the chefs, but all went together very well. The sashimi and savoury custard were especially good. We had limited time as we had to catch a train, but without feeling rushed, everything arrived promptly. Good service and great attention to detail.
I ordered the Akira Sushi Bento Box which was one of those Bento boxes on 50% off. Although most of the various food that came in the box was of reasonable good standard, I was disappointed that the potato salad seemed to have gone off. I notified a member of staff who took it away and replaced it shortly. But my appetite for potato salad had gone after that experience.
Tried the Sushi Bento. Very nice, 15 small dishes in a beautiful wooden box including sushi, sashimi, one small portion of meat and veggies. Served with a miso soup on the side. Booked special deal £20 instead of £40 during London Restaurant Week. Well worth it at that price.
Ate at the counter & chose the 3 course chef menu/choices - was delicious food possibly a little too much but we were feeling hungry so all okay for us. Don’t order this unless you want to eat a lot!! Goodness knows what the 5 course menu is CNN like!! Good service polite & attentive. It was a nice touch that all the chefs said goodbye in a big Japanese greeting kind of way.
The food was amazing! Staff were accommodating, a bit busy at times to catch their attention. Love the toilets lol! Also, whilst there, check the gallery downstairs and try a cold hojicha latte!
We enjoyed the lunch box very much.
The service is very nice.
I recommend this to everyone. Thank you for the lovely day.
I will be back soon.
Presentation and design was really stunning and the opening of the box - with 16 unique mini bowls was delightful.
The Happy Birthday desert was a lovely touch too !
Thank you for a lovely evening.
Amazing!! Beautiful restaurant, beautiful food
With the 50% off bento lunch is reasonable value
Food is okay for the price paid. Service is disappointing. The lady at the counter was rude, ignoring us even when she apparently saw us; others are really busy, like nobody trained them how to serve a customer from end to end, taking 15min + 2x calling for just getting a bill, and another 15 min just for getting the bill to be paid ( the chef helped us calling one of the waiters)
