Wonderful tasty meal, from the yummy smoked duck breast salad and the pork shank was fall off the bone! Excellent presentation and great staff. Dessert was the chocolate- raspberry cake, decadent and moist. The wine list is fantastic! We will be back!
My wife and I had dinner while staying in the area. The restaurant is located on a bluff overlooking the ocean and had a beautiful view from our table. I have been trying hamburgers from different places since having an amazing burger in Inverness. The ARI burger was very good cooked to order. My wife had the Lime and Ginger Grilled Prawns and said it was one of the best meals she had ever had! We finished with homemade ice cream which was delicious. Definitely will be back on our next trip.
You’re paying for the view. The food is mediocre. Massive wine list but the waiter knew nothing about it.
Good and attentive waitress, with beautiful window ocean views. Food was quite good. Enjoyable experience and we would go back there.
Ambiance and views are superb. Staff were very attentive. Somewhat disappointed in the food: my swordfish was a little overdone and covered with a mushroom sauce that I did not think was a good compliment to the fish. Roasted brussel sprouts were soft and too heavy with asiago cheese.Saffron based Bouillabase was very good.
Have been coming here for years. I was happy to see a NY steak back on the menu, but was disappointed that it was tough, though well-cooked. At $39.50, it should have been a tenderer cut. My wife’s price fix dinner was great and the atmosphere and service was superb, as always.
We really enjoyed the Rock Cod which was the special fish of the night. They were very accommodating in preparing the fish without truffles or truffle oil. I normally do not get dessert but definitely have the chocolate pudding if you love chocolate and the rocky road ice cream was way better than any rocky road I have ever had. Highly recommend! Make your reservation by a window with a sunset
Great food, nice selection of wines and a huge list of beers. Portion size was huge.
Amazing view with excellent service and food.
Great food and service.....pricey but great food,, service was good, Bar tender was very knowledgeable on wine collection
Wonderful food, staff and location. This is a great restaurant for a special dinner.
Great food by world-class chef, beautiful setting, amazing selection of scotch and whisky. I'll be back!
Matt was a wonderful server. We liked him a lot.
The hostess was very kind and accommodating too. The steak was delicious and the Caesar salad was light and refreshing. The ambiance was nice and overall we were very pleased and it was a very good choice to celebrate our Valentine’s Day dinner at Albion Restaurant.
Food tasted good. Waitress unfortunately had issues moment we sat. Not sure why. Not unfriendly, but other servers looked like they were making dining an enjoyable experience for their guests, while ours was slow and minimally attentive. Just a bad draw. Maybe next time.
Beautiful spot, great food, fun bartender! Thank you Laura!!
Great everything (food, service, decor, value, etc) for a Valentine's dinner...on a 3-day weekend! And we're fairly certain we got a special table because we reserved early. Highly recommended!
It is quaint restaurant right on the coast...setting beautiful. Tables very close to each other and very little privacy...very noisy...food was okay and service was not the best but not the worst.
Very well prepared delicious food and lovely service. A special spot on the north coast.
Always feel welcome when we arrive at the Albion River Restaurant. We arrived about 15 minutes early for our reservation and they were so welcoming and provide us the view at a window table immediately. The waitress was timely in greeting us, getting our drinks, and helping with our selections. I chose the NY steak with garlic potatoes and vegetables, cooked perfectly. My friend selected the lime and ginger shrimp dish with vegetables - again cooked perfectly, Our desserts were Chocolate mousse and a lemon/raspberry pie-tasty to the last bit. Looking forward to going back again!
We celebrated our 30th anniversary with yet another wonderfully memorable dinner at our favorite Mendocino Coast restaurant at the Albion River Inn. The friendly service was superior from our delightful host, Mercedes, as well as our excellent server, Janet, who thoughtfully recalled one of our previous visits. We we’re seated at a romantic fireside table that had been adorned with celebratory ribbons and flowers. Both the Warm Winter Beet and the Point Reyes Blue Cheese Salads were fresh and incredibly flavorful. The entrees we chose were also fabulous, with one of them even being readily adapted by the chef to include elements from two different menu options, the Cavatappi Pasta with Domestic and Wild Mushrooms and a delicious meat ball choice. The grilled wild swordfish could not have been any tastier! We loved the excellent Black Kite pinot noir that Janet suggested for us. It was perfect for our love of Pinots and quite beautifully made; yet, being a local wine unfamiliar to us, we likely wouldn’t have known to select it on our own. The evening was topped off by the luscious celebration desserts of divine Chocolate Raspberry Cakes enjoyed with our final sips of Black Kite Pinot. We can’t wait until our next time dining at the Restaurant at Albion River Inn!
Beautiful ocean views. Superb food. While we've had excellent cocktails here before, they were not good this evening. I can only assume that the regular bartender was absent and a temporary fill-in was handling the drinks. The cocktails lacked flourish. Too many bitters were used. It was only a problem this time around and we've rated Albion higher before. As always, we'll be back!
Not cheap, but we haven't ever had a bad meal here! Nice presentation, attentive wait staff, and a beautiful environment, right on the coast. Great for a special occasion!
Wonderful experience beautiful views great staff highly recommend!
Lovely dinner at Albion River Restaurant. We arrived just before sunset and enjoyed a beautiful view while sipping wine. The food was delicious, the service was excellent and we will definitely return.
Our dinner here was amazing. The service was wonderful and the staff was helpful and friendly! John the bartender was very knowledgeable and helpful as well. I would recommend this place to everyone visiting or staying in the Mendocino area!
We celebrated a late Christmas dinner with our family. Food, service, wine and view were all amazing!!
Based on previous great experiences we were not hesitant to invite our best friends to Albion River Restaurant as our guests and we were NOT disappointed. We were the last ones to leave but the staff were so kind and even fun. Each of the 4 of us was more than happy with our dinner. Looking forward to our next trip to Ft Bragg.
Amazing views, kind staff and very accommodating. A favorite for sure!
Excellent restaurant, great place to celebrate special occasions. The food is very tasty and the views are superb. I will be back.
My wife and I had a wonderful New Year's Eve dinner, the food and service were great. I had the special which was Long cod and my wife had the Shrimp both were delicious. Albion is definitely on our list for a return visit.
We did a get-a-way with friends for the New Year. The were 4 of us. Each one of us had a great meal. The ambiance during the day for breakfast is fantastic because of the ocean view from the dining room, but at night, not so much. New Year's even celebration was crowed so it was noisy, but to be expected. We ate at 3 restaurants on our trip and the Albion was right up there with the best and famous of the area.
Beautiful table against the window which would have been a great view over the water had it not been already dark outside (limited light in the winter months seems to foreclose most of the opportunities to have a view during dinner dining hours!). Service was good enough, professional, attentive. Food feels like a bit of a relic of mid-1990s french-informed California cuisine: cream-butter-based sauce on the fish of the day plate with parboiled vegetables and a starch of some kind, all of which wasn’t very distinct in flavor, tasty but moderately bland. Salads were nice enough, though Caesar dressing was moderately underwhelming (I was close to wondering if mayo was the base for this dressing). All in all, a fine place for a dinner out, though feels static in style and rather traditional menu offerings, not quite worth the price in my opinion — though the view may have made up for that!
There are not a lot fine dining establishments along the sparse North California Coast. However, The Albion River Inn will provide a memorable gastronomic fix to anyone looking for it along the North Coast. The setting is one of the best you'll find and the service is quite good. I had the duck as an appetizer and the pork shank as my entree and was not disappointed. It is on the pricey end, but I really believe the food quality, the service and the setting justify it. Plus, they definitely know how to shake a proper cocktail, which is always welcome. It would be nice if the bar was open for afternoons in the winter, as the bar and restaurant is closed shut until 5pm sharp; so plan accordingly.
Albion River Restaurant was one of very few open for Christmas day dinner and serving their entire menu, so we gave them a try. What a lucky find! Our dinner was wonderful. We look forward to returning on our next visit to Mendocino.
Nothing special. Because we were staying at the hotel, my wife and I went in for Christmas dinner. Completely unmemorable.
All the staff members were so nice. The food was really good too.
From the moment we were greeted very warmly by the Hostess until we left after a wonderful meal, my husband and I had a lovely Christmas evening. The food and service were outstanding. Looking forward to going there again!
We had a delicious meal with a beautiful view! Everything was fantastic!
Christmas Eve dinner
We love the Albion River Inn and make a pilgrimage there whenever we get out to the Mendocino coast. They have a lovely, warm dining room with exceptionally friendly, kid-tolerant service. The food is tasty, albeit not particularly memorable, the whiskey options are endless, and the wine and cocktails are excellent. Lots of locals stop by for happy hour (5-6 pm).
