                                                                                I don’t want to meet (alone) anyone who thinks the dark, plastic greenery is anything other than gross. The menu is great but too ambitious for which ever chefs were on duty last night. To be fair they had a decent go at it but for that price you’d expect the quality to go with it. Altogether the overall impression is 'weird'. Such a shame - a wonderful old house rather trashed.

                                                                                Restaurant was freezing. It’s a strange space - very open yet cave-like… booths are nice but they face each other so are not the cosy spaces they should be, service friendly but slow and inconsistent, my food was tepid and needed more seasoning. Overall it’s trying to be something it’s not. Attention to detail is lacking.

                                                                                Excellent food, friendly efficient service, beautiful surrounds. The hotel refurb is looking amazing. My only thought was the ambiance was a little lacking, it felt too quiet for me, to the point where you think everyone can hear your conversation. There didn’t appear to be any background music.

                                                                                Living locally and enjoying eating out we thought we would try an evening meal having lunch on the terrace previously ( great menu and good value) We enjoyed a drink in the luxurious bar. Although we liked the style of the restaurant we felt it lacked atmosphere only a few tables were taken in a large room, many were not laid/dressed. Also an up market hotel should have an experienced manager on hand even if only as cheerleader for the place and to obtain real time feedback. Menu was more interesting than the norm- good but there was not a lot of variety for myself as I don't eat fish or seafood. We both had braised blade of beef, a generous piece but a little dry. there was a very tasty jus but just not enough of it. Good wine list we had an excellent bottle of Neprica at a fair price. Almost but not yet a very good restaurant
