The restaurant is small but very well decorated and staff are very friendly. The food was presented very nicely and cooked to perfection. Some small changes in the way of cooking would make it the food more traditional Egyptian such as providing the traditional tomatoes and garlic sauce with the Fata. Perhaps also adding foul and Tamia (Egyptian favs beans and falafel) to the menu?
Delicious food, interesting choices. Complimentary mezze, delicious humus and baba ganoush. Staff knew their menu well. Good choice of wine. Very relaxed. Quiet, we were only people there, but only just reopened and impacted by tier 2 restrictions.
Do go and try it, a great evening out.
.
Lovely food with attentive staff. Good explanation of specialities.
Would highly recommend
So good! The hummus, baba ghanoush and lamb were so tasty. The service was incredible.
Good, authentic food in an agreeable environment.
This place is stunning. Service was perfect as was the food. It's a fancy restaurant but affordable & doesn't make you feel uncomfortable with the "fancyness".
Highly recommended!
We went for a quiet dinner at Alexandrie just after Christmas. Overall mixed feelings. On the plus side, it is a very typical Egyptian restaurant and we felt the fool was genuinely different and fresh. Also the service was very attentive. On the negative, I would say that even with the OpenTable offer we got that day, the bill still came out pretty high given the kind of food and what we had. So worth a try...
The food was outstanding, the lamb main was like nothing we have ever had before, so make sure you try it out!
Interesting and tasty menu - the herb soup was delicious, as was the lamb shank. Interesting wine list with a good selection. The restaurant deserves to be much busier.
Every food was great! Especially deep fried prawn and courgette. I’d like to come back soon.
Fabulous food and very attentive staff. Throughly enjoyed the meal.
Server was welcoming and attentive. We had A la carte menu - food came promptly and was very tasty. My wife's stuffed courgettes were particularly good. Would definitely recommend this place. Menu could be worded better as the descriptions perhaps dont do the food justice.
Fantastic 7 course tasting menu. Service was excellent and food was also excellent. Will definitely visit again.
Dined here on our last night of a 25 day European vacation. Though Egyption in name, that is only an influence. It is as much Mediterranean as Egyption. But the dinner was delightful, well spiced, and the lamb shank was the most tender of any I have had in 50 years of dining out. Marvelous service, nicely appointed modern decor and seating. Nearly a 5 star rating, but we are very stingy with those (only 3 or 4 in all our years). So by all means this heart of Kensington restaurant is a worthy choice and a fond memory.
We had a very early dinner so the restaurant was naturally quiet . The food was lovely and the service excellent. Highly recommended and we will visit again
Distinctive cuisine you rarely get to experience. Try the traditional Egyptian herb soup, the lamb shank, and the baked filo/dairy/almond dessert. Everything was tasty and we'll seasoned.
Beautiful modern decor. Quiet elegance. Attentive staff, friendly, unobtrusive, knowledgeable. Tasting menu and wine flights were nicely paired and delicious. Toilettes in the restaurant were spic ‘n span clean and beautifully maintained suggesting same detail to attention overall.
We had the tasting menu, accompanied by the wine selection. The quality of the food was excellent. Portion size as expected from fine dining. Decor and setting is very good, though we had the whole restaurant to ourselves. Mid week Egyptian maybe doesn't draw the crowd, but it should. The lamb was exquisite. Not a cheap meal, but great food and something slightly different.
Food was very good ☺️🥳 But Servixe was very slowvly ... location si good and restaurant is very nice
The food was good with the exception of an incident that spoilt the afternoon for me. I am aware that a service charge is never mandatory and as per the website and the menu this stated very clearly that a discretionary 12.5% surcharge would be applied. I do not want to pay this, nor should this be forced upon me. This is not enshrined in law and current discussions with parliament are in place to stop restaurants from insisting and simply adding on an extra charge on top of the meal. All food industry are obligated to pay their workers either a living wage or a minimum wage. I was disappointed when I requested for the charge to be taken off my bill. The excuse being made was that this was on the till and could not be removed. For Alexandrie Restaurant to act with mendacity, attempt to force me to pay a charge that is not legal upset me greatly and based on this issue I will never go back and eat there. I did not go to enjoy lunch to engage in an altercation and embarrass myself and quests. This issue could have been settled promptly. It is an absolute disgrace to assume that customers have no rights. In America it is customary to tip your service provider and employees are reliant on this to boost their wages. In the UK this is not legally binding and not required. Employers must pay their employees either a living wage or minimum wages. Currently the government is consultation with the hospitality industry regarding service charge, tips etc. Common practice is that this is optional and the money belongs to the business who can use this as they see fit. This is an additional charge to food that you are paying for. Not acceptable at all as a cash tip given to the server can be kept by the server whilst the service charge means you have pad for the meal and giving the business a mandatory unlawful charges that customers neither understand nor question. I will be writing to my MP to complain and further ensure that this tradition is stopped. Utter shock and upset.
Dear, sorry you feel that way.Thank you for praising the food and the restaurant when engaging with the waiter.I'd like to remind you that the service charge is discretionary as stated on the menu and bill. Shouldn't you want to pay it is your right to do so.Note this is a general and LEGAL practice in the UK .Sorry but at no time you were" forced" to pay the service as you stated it was removed from the bill and not paid for.We take genuine customer's feedback seriously . Regards Alexandrie
I booked this halal restaurant for my boyfriend’s 40s birthday. As main he ordered the lamb shank but when arrived we realised it was hard. That spoiled a bit the atmosphere. My main was fine but I really wanted to be a good experience for him! We told the waiter who promptly changed the dish with a much softer one.
The food is very tasty, from starters to desserts, overall its really worth a try maybe not in special occasions though, when you want a smooth enjoyable dinner.
Très bonne nourriture et service extra. On s'attendait à manger un peu plus typique mais les plats étaient vraiment très bien préparés.
First time here and it won’t be the last! We were in at 6pm and got the 20% discount on food which was automatically deducted. The room filled up later but tables are nicely spaced and it was never noisy. The food was Mediterranean in style and the hummus as amuse bouche was excellent and served with lovely flat bread. Quail breasts and delicious lamb shanks followed. There is a decent wine list with a good selection by the glass. A very nice restaurant all in all.
Unusual Middle Eastern food with a French accent, very well prepared with excellent service. Ambience rather quiet and even subdued.
Congratulations to the team of professionals who make Alexandrie Restaurant a go-to destination. Our meal there was excellent, the service attentive and caring and the ambiance was chic but without the pretense seen at so many restaurants today. Cannot wait to go back!
Excellent. The chef really puts in the time and dedication to create amazing food that looks stunning!
Great job
Delicious meal. Friendly waiter. Efficient service.
I would highly recommend this restaurant. The food was delicious, and the service attentive. I had a wonderful business meal, but it would equally be great for a family dinner or date night.
Lovely quiet restaurant with a high-quality food and service. They can make both vegans and meat-lovers happy.
Good quiet place
One of the most wonderful dinner experiences in London. Every single detail was more than perfect.
Really a memorable night, thank you.
Ristorante di medio livello
Personale gentile
Cucina abbastanza elevata
Went there for a special birthday treat for my wife. Amazing food and a good selection of wine.
We tried the tasting menu and All dishes here were amazing! I will definitely visit again!
The food was amazing and the service was brilliant from start to end. It was our first time having Egyptian food but it was absolutely delicious. Worth going to!
Food was good, service was good but because only one staff was working , it's a little slow but we didn't mind as we were not in a rush.
Alexandrie is a beautiful restaurant. We went because we have travelled around Egypt and wanted to experience a little of the Egyptian warmth and friendliness in London and Alexandrie did not disappoint. The food was exceptional for both my husband who eats everything and for me as a vegan. I was delighted to find vegan baklava on the dessert menu. Amazing! I never get to eat a decent dessert. We really enjoyed Alexandrie and would highly recommend it.
Must try ! Food service excellent. Prompt tasty and good various choices on taster menu
Alexandrie was a real treat from beginning to end. Very cozy restaurant in the heart of Kensington. My wife and I were only in London for a couple of nights and we wanted to try something different so we decided to try an Egyptian restaurant. The complimentary appetizer was delicious, as was every dish we had. I had the lightly fried prawns to start and the spicy chicken entrée. We shared a delicious traditional Egyptian dessert consisting of baked filo and custard. Highly recommended.
One each of the four occasions that I have visited the restaurant recently, the food has been excellent and the ambience charming.
