We were in the alleyway at the front. Great atmosphere. We had a selection of small plates to share between 4 people - great tasty food. friendly and quick service. Highly recommended!!
What an absolute experience! Love the decor and set up and vibe of this establishment.
Drink selection was good - although a couple of asian inspired mocktails would have been awesome to for the people who don't drink alcohol - perhaps a vietnamese/cambodian style lime crush would go down well especially in summer.
The satay chicken kebabs were so delicious and the meat so tender.
The short rib beef spring rolls were also incredible and the dipping sauce yummy.
Desserts were on point and loved the deep fried ice cream with the sherbet and salted caramel (although really wanted to receive the sauce in a pouring jug to pour on myself) and the vanilla panacotta was amazing especially with the plum wine brother and dragon fruit.
Definitely will be back again next time down the coast.
Disappointing would be the best way to describe our dining experience. We chose the banquet menu which gave nothing away when it came to being quite clearly pre-prepared. Noodle dishes were prepared with store bought noodles... shredded duck was almost absent and the scallop dish was over done to a point where the scallop coukd not be detected. Won't be going back
Large plates were tastier than the small plates. Noodles in particular were delicious. The spring rolls were lacking in flavour.
Waitress was lovely very patient with our children and helped make my hubby’s birthday special
We absolutely loved everything about our dining experience. We will definitely be back
My Son recommended Ally Chow. He's a real foodie, so I always trust his recommendations. I booked a table for 6 at 7:30. We arrived a bit early, and were welcomed and seated. It took 15 minutes to ask for our drink orders, and another 15-20 to receive our drinks. We were informed that neither of the wines we ordered were available, neither the Sauvignon or Shiraz, so we opted for the lesser priced choices. The food we ordered, overall, was amazing. The Agedashi Tofu, Eggplant, San Choy Bao, Soft Shell Crab Bao, were delicious. The pork and Chicken Skewers were over cooked and quite chewy. One of our guests was Gluten and Dairy free, and after asking the chef if the Tofu was Gluten free, we were told that there was the slightest bit of gluten with the soy marinade. While, she was served a non-marinaded piece of Tofu, it should be noted that, it should not say *gluten free, on the menu, if, in fact it isn't. I feel that the restaurant was understaffed, and while we were told that there was a problem with the eftpos machine, it just seemed that service was a bit frazzled. We would certainly give Ally Chow another chance.
Great food, different flavours. Good value. Funky atmosphere and good service. Well worth a visit.
Food and atmosphere really good (we sat outside). The service was great when it came but we had to wait 30mins between entree and main and then another 20mins for the bill. We had young, tired kids and I think they were short-staffed. Won't stop us going back though.
Every meal that was bought out was lovely. We had a few small meals to share and one large and it was plenty for 3 adults.
Great night and great service with tasty great food
Came to this restaurant on the recommendation of my daughter who hasn't actually been here but follows Ally Chow on insta (she is a real foodie and thought they would be worth following based on their posts). So we tried it, and was not disappointed. Food looked and tasted beautiful. Staff, very polite and professional. Wicked chef. Well worth travelling up from Banora. We will be back to try "Sunday Chow Chill Outs".
Great staff with a good vibe inside. Food was tasty and cocktails were delicious
We really enjoyed this food. Two had the banquet and they absolutely LOVED it. I am coeliac and so ordered with guidance from the fabulous staff from the menu and I LOVED it too. Nothing was a bother. Every meal has been fabulous.
Brilliant! We thoroughly enjoyed the Sunday Chow Session for Mother's Day. The service was outstanding and food did not disappoint. A fabulous vibe and cocktails to die for! Value for money and a delicious mix of modern Asian cuisine. Loved it!
Fabulous food with great service there was 10 of us and we were all looked after great .... thanks
Fantastic food, great setting and ambience. Recommend the duck noodles and sticky pork.
My daughter and I wanted to try Ali Chow as we had heard good things about it. Lovely atmosphere ( bit quiet because it was a weeknight ), great service. The food was very tasty but some of the serves were a bit small, even by tapas standards. The kingfish salad was delicious but very small for $19. The pineapple we had for dessert was lovely and different and enough to share. Really enjoyed the cocktails we had as well.
Wow! Food was amazing, cool ambience. Loved the experience and will be back!
Great service, lovely food and ambience. We celebrated a birthday and received special attention.
Ally Chow is the best find in ages. Friendly knowledgeable staff who really care about your experience. Food served promptly with grace and good conversation. Great menu.
This place was just fantastic. My mum had heard great things about Alley Chow - and with the number of great little foodie places (both similar cuisines and others) now on the Goldie it had some stiff competition. Admittedly we picked an ideal night just after holidays and early for the little person in our group and it was really quiet - but in a good way. Food was outstanding and Service was impeccable, down to the manager/owner (?) realising that the glass of bubbly Dad ordered had gone flat and replaced before Dad himself had noticed himself. Was no trouble asking for a highchair, however the menu is really suited for us big kids so we brought food for little one (though he dug into the coconut rice!) We've watched Nobby Beach change over the last 30 years and loved it back in the day through to now and Alley Chow is a welcome addition (I almost dont want to go back when it's super busy....almost!)
Rubbish - the waiter was clipped and gave poor service - the meals were not as per menu - no crab in dish 😳
Easy and relaxed night. Staff very eager to please. Food was quick and tasty
Service was poor, food was above average, ambience was nice inside however we were seated on the street and asked to sit inside. We never heard back from the waitress...20 - 25 mins until a bottle of wine we ordered came to the table overall service was quite lacking.
Amazing food, super cool venue. One of the best on the GC
A striking informal laidback first impression. The alleyway seating area unique. Various table layout sizes and height and locations providing
choices. Great cocktails. Food fusion definitely. Well presented and tasty as... nice work Ally Chow.
Funky new spot with a great range of delicious food and a chilled atmosphere. Definitely would recommend the beef skirt and pulled duck!
Exceptional food, drinks and service. Cannot fault anything and I have had the whole menu! The staff give great foo choices so always ask what they recommend. Highly recommend
Beautiful place with beautifully presented food. A little pricey considering portion size. Overall a good experience with very good service from friendly staff.
Recommend the beef skirt and snapper. Oysters were amazing and worth the price. Great venue and cocktails.
Great flavoured that were fresh and original. Was a lovely meal. Also the wines are very reasonably priced. In all a nice setting for asian fusion .
I had high expectations but thought it was a bit average.
The pulled duck was very good, everything else was so so
Great little spot. Funky decor and vibe. Loved the food and the cocktails 💁🏼♀️
Had dinner for my birthday at Ally Chow recently and was extremely happy with the experience. Food was cooked to perfection and was delicious! I also had an issue with my booking (was completely my mistake) and the staff happily resolved this immediately. Without a doubt would recommend this restaurant.
Great night out and some creative dishes. We did the banquet #2 and left very full.
The Girls had a lovely afternoon - special birthday for one of us - and the staff were very attentive. The food was melt in your mouth. We chose to order a variety of sharing plates and we weren't disappointed! Going back for seconds in some instances. Cocktails, bubbles and ambience - a great afternoon. Only one thing I would change, the Gold Coast has been experiencing an extreme weather event - it was quite hot and very muggy, something other than the industrial sized fan to cool the clientele would be beneficial. Will certainly go back though. Thanks to Stan and the Team, nothing was too much effort. Well done! Linda
Yummy food, lovely service & a fun place to dine! Great cocktails too! The duck was amazing and so was the pana cotta. I would definitely recommend!
Great to see a casual and funky spot with a great vibe, good service and tasty food - the food was very well priced and delicious, the cocktails were awesome and the service friendly. The menu offered a variety of dishes and I will definitely be back to try more. Some of the food was the best and most authentic asian food I've eaten - matched with a vietnamese coffee martini - YUM
Food was very nice however it took nearly two hours for all of the banquet food to arrive. We were placed outside beside a 40th party function with they also had on which was very loud. No air conditioning or fans which made it very hot.
We had to ask for cutlery to serve the food as it was share food and not hygienic to use our own chop sticks. Also had to ask for serviettes as was given one for 4 people ? Would like to see a slightly cheaper “house wine alternative” could also do a French option ie 1/2 or 1 litre house wine in carafe. Would not mind it being cask wine or off pump. Could be a win win for all. Food was superb.
