Amazing food. I’ve been to many steaks places here and abroad and this one was great.
A great meal, somewhat on the pricey side, but very well presented Ted and tasty
Waitress was very friendly and overall experience was nice. Steak was yummy
Best steak I've had in a long time. We were seated at a corner table, waiters were prompt and friendly. Food was all delicious. It was a special birthday meal and we weren't disappointed!
The table we were shown to was right next to the toilets & bar. It was very noisy & obviously people passing frequently. Before we sat I asked the waitress ca we be seated somewhere else. Her attitude was disgraceful she snapped at us saying we can only seat you at a 4 (4 of us) I said that's fine theres a table over there to which she replied, it might be booked! I wssnt aware we booked an actual table.
However we were moved from the original table. Food was actually very good but we waited 50 minutes after the starter for our main course.
We got the bill & there was a service charge of 12%, on enquiry is dosnt go to the waiting staff. We didn't pay this.
Though what we had was good I think charging for sides detracts from your experience & the service charge not going to the staff is a outrageous.
I don't think I'd visit again.
Cute little date night whilst in Manchester for the weekend :)
Outstanding. My mate and I had the “Friday Special” of the Butcher’s Cut. Absolutely fantastic, and really good value. Next time I find myself in Manchester, I’m going again. Hopefully on a Friday.
3 of 5 mains and one steak sold out.
Told us after serving the drinks.
Left after the drinks.
The atmosphere is relaxing, the service is fantastic and the food is even better, would highly recommend
A really nice dining experience. The starters were incredible and we shared a Chateaubriand main which was a great piece of beef and perfectly cooked; not quite as warm as it could have been and I’d have preferred it classically served which wasn’t an option
It was a busy Saturday night but even so it was little things like our starters arriving moments after ordering, but well before the wine was served. That said the staff were friendly helpful
We shared the dessert tree which was fab and whilst it’s not cheap it’s a good price for the quality of the food and wine
Lovely restaurant, great service, fantastic food. The classiest place in the Corn Exchange by a country mile.
Excellent service at a reasonable price, ribeye steak was delicious although the duck was a little chewy, really impressed with waitress as she had asked when we were seated what we had planned for the evening this being an event at the Manchester Arena, when we asked for the bill she asked to see our tickets for the event which gave us a 20% discount from the bill without us knowing a discount was available.
Beautiful meal here and great service from the waitress ! Will be back
The steaks are excellent and the gin selection is great. Also our waiter Mark was very nice.
Amazing food, amazing staff, had a great time! I would suggest this restaurant to everyone!
Food was great.
Pricey but worth it.
Had a brilliant evening!
We were made very welcome and cared for excellently throughout our dinning experience.
Ross made superb recommendations for the food and drinks.
Well worth a visit, we will definitely choose again when in Manchester.
Couldn’t fault a thing. Staff were incredible and so friendly. We went for the £50 sharing steak deal which was amazing value and so delicious.
Starter and main were absolutely delicious, 10/10! All my friends agreed with this. However they also agreed that the puddings we’re a major disappointment. They were deconstructed to the point that they didn’t taste pleasant. I feel that should the deserts have a revamp that the restaurant would be the best I’ve been to in Manchester.
Food was incredible, one of the best steakhouses I've been to in a long time!
The place is a little hard to find but you should definitely try as the food is great, the servers are friendly and helpful, plus it is a light spacious restaurant, which you don’t often get. My husband had the mackerel followed by the rack of lamb, which was done to perfection, ie rare. I had the arancini which had an odd taste but very pleasant, followed by the cauliflower steak, etc and it was amazing. We would definitely go to the Alston Bar and Beef again. 👍
We arrived to celebrate a birthday. We wanted to 'Eat The Best Steak in Manchester', we certainly did that! The 3 course set menu for £21.00 is a bit disingenuous, we needed to add the pepper sauce, onion rings and the sauted spinach with mushrooms and this does significantly change the price. But a portion of each is easily enough to share between 2 people. Including drinks we spent just under £170.00 for exceptional food and great service. A must eat in Manchester for meat eating foody.
Had sea Bram from set menu. Smoked salmon starter portion very small and more apple than salmon. Sea bream from mains was delicious. Had a side of broccoli which was needed. 12.5% service charge was put on the bill automatically, which could be reduced or removed if you wished. Who's going to do this unless the meal is really rubbish. I think a 10% service is more acceptable.
Lovely meal and the set menus are great value for city centre dining
Very empty but food amazing
The location was nice albeit hard to find. Service was excellent. The flavour of the dishes was delicious. I was disappointed by the meagre amount of meat in the dish I selected as part of the menu deal. Sides and trimmings were exquisite but, to say it nicely, the amounts in the plate “lacked generosity”. You go to a beef place to eat meat, not to have a meek taste of it.
We celebrated our birthdays on Saturday. It was our first time in the restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. We both had the fillet which was cooked to perfection. Will definitely be coming back
They could improve the service, explaining the meats and being more mindful if we wanted any more drinks
Food was unbelievable and so was the service, we will definitely be returning
Very friendly & helpful serving staff. Great food prepared to a high standard.
The Friday menu is exceptional - amazing food, amazing value.
Only 2 other couples in when we arrived. 5 waiting staff on duty that we could see. We waited too long for the order to be taken, had to ask again for the wine after the food had been delivered and we waited 20 minutes for plates to be cleared after we’d eaten. Refused to pay the 10% service charge and no one bothered to ask why. Food was nice enough but just poor service. Disappointed.
First time at this restaurant and it was perfect. Service as it should be, friendly and attentive, food was outstanding, steaks cooked perfectly with great sides. Pudding spot on.
Look forward to visiting again soon.
Excellent service, very pleasant atmosphere, very good value and mostly good food (sadly the fish wasn't perfect), but the rest of the food was excellent, with the fillet being superb. A good restaurant for an evening at the Manchester Arena very nearby .
Pretty standard steak and chips... Don't know why they get such a high rating. Prices far too high for the quality.
Amazing beef but very pricey for the portions.
We had a booking for Sunday 20 October, but when we got to the restaurant it was closed. I did not receive any message from the restaurant to inform me that they were closed.
Hi TrondS, Please accept our sincere apologies for the emergency closure of the restaurant on Sunday 20th October. Due to the severity of the situation closing the restaurant was unavoidable. On the day, we attempted to contact every guest. 2 bookings we could not contact due to incorrect contact details. I can fully empathise with the disappointment and inconvenience caused. Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss this further. Kind Regards Paul General Manager
The quality of the steaks are second to none, my partner and I shared the chateaubriand which was AMAZING - highly recommend. We had booked for 8.30pm on Saturday evening and although we arrived a little late, we still had to wait for our table but we were able to get a drink at the bar in the meantime so this wasn't an issue. The atmosphere is really good and it's a nice touch that you can see the food being prepared. Definitely a place to visit, the prices are reasonable for the quality, with 2 courses and drinks we were around £75 per head.
Great service. Outstanding steaks.
From the moment my family and I entered, it was so welcoming and caring down to the smallest of details. Other than some of the chips being slightly overcooked for the main, the steaks themselves were cooked to preferential perfection and the desserts were simply amazing.
The inside is decorated very stylishly, to a point where I always say never judge a venue from the exterior. The staff were always at hand whenever you need them, but not invasive when you're eating and chatting away; very well done!
