Ate dinner here with a friend the other night. I had the Giant Chicken Parm which was perfectly cooked (chicken was juicy and not too much breading) and accompanied by spaghetti squash. I think if you wanted a very low carb option, you may be able to request it cooked without the breading.

I really appreciated the service - our server was very knowledgeable about the options and what was popular. He was very attentive and helpful in selecting both drink/cocktails and our entrees. Will definitely come back.

The food was delicious and the service was good! We had a slight wait for our dinners as the restaurant was busy, but they brought a complimentary salad during the wait. Everyone was very friendly and the ambiance was lovely.

My friend and I loved our server Julie/a? She’s was friendly and overall a joy to talk to. Food was good and she made great recommendations. Sad to see her leave this place but I know she’s do great at her new job!

The food was good, the service quite good, but the noise level (from 6:00 - about 8:00 p.m. was too loud. We were in a booth, four of us, and could barely hear each other talk. Finally, the 3% add on to pay for health care was unexpected and not appreciated.

So disappointed tonight. We’ve been here so many times and it’s always been fabulous. Tonight we had a disengaged frustrating server. The food took a long tim to come out and my husband’s pizza was overpowered with chili flakes making it inedible and we sent it back. My steak was overpowered with pepper and I left more than 1/2 of it. The server was unfriendly and almost seemed to avoid us. Overall, really poor experience and very disappointed.

We ate lunch at 11:30 so there were only two tables occupied when we began and five when we left. We were celebrating my friend's birthday and she especially enjoyed the ahi tuna salad. I had the margareta pizza slices with a caesar salad. The salad was very tasty; the crust on the pizza was a bit tough. What I didn't like was the piece of 'waxed' (?) paper under both the pizza and the salad. Every time I tried to slice a bite of pizza, the paper got in the way and usually ended up sticking to the fork/pizza.
Observation: While it was quiet for us, I would imagine that when busy, the closeness of the tables might make conversations difficult. Also the size of the tables (small) for the size of the plates (large) made it feel crowded. Glad they did not seat others on either side of us. The waiter was most solicitous - pleasant change from a lot of restaurants.

Both my appetizer (Grilled Octopus) and chicken parmigiana were excellent.
Wine selection was good and reasonable. Service was excellent but the room was a bit noisy.

Good music, loud when we got there, but quieted down considerably toward the end of the evening. Very friendly wait staff and hard working to make sure we had everything we needed. The place is really packed in with people, but we reserved through Open Table and were seated (4 of us) immediately.

We chose Alta Strada based on its' reviews as a good Italian restaurant. The food was very good, especially the pasta dishes, but I found the menu to be a bit limited. Our waiter was very nice but a bit rushed. The plates did not come out all together and because someone different brought out the food, there was a mix up between the dishes but we sorted it out ourselves at the table. The waiter did a nice job explaining the different menu options and answering any questions that we had. Two of our parties members were celebrating birthdays that evening. I made note of it on the reservation and called ahead to see if the restaurant did anything special to celebrate. They told me they would bring out ice cream for the two guests, but nothing was offered or provided and I decided not to make an issue of it. I would not make a special trip to go back to Alta Strada, but if I were in the area I would probably go back again.

Our group of three shared a pizza which we all loved. I prefer a little more sauce and cheese but the crust tasted superb, although too thin to hold the weight of the toppings. It was flacid when picked up and the toppings fell off, but the big chunks of fennel sausage were so good it could have been an appetizer by itself. We had two meats on the pizza so can't say if lighter toppings would have stayed on better. My chicken parm was giant as described on the menu, easily enough for two. The chicken cutlet was an inch thick, but very moist and tender. I liked having the less fattening spaghetti squash with it instead of real spaghetti. Again I prefer more sauce, but what I had was very good. The chicken was wonderfully crisp and crunchy. One companion found her rack of lamb prepared just to her liking and her husband was very happy with his pasta and fennel sausage dish. I took a taste of it and would happily order it myself on another visit.

We were seated promptly upon arrival. But we didnt have a waiter even look our way for about 10 minutes. It was extremely crowded and we were practical elbow to elbow with the tables next to us. The food was great but not worth being packed into the restaurant like a can of sardines.

We sat near the window which was also near the door. Every time someone came into the restaurant we got a very cold burst of wind. This location could really stand to have an added on entry way with another set of doors into the restaurant to prevent this. Unfortunate because the food was tasty otherwise.

Food was average. It took a while to come out but tasted fine. I really disliked that the checks could not be split for my party. We were all high schooler and carry cash so having to split it ourselves was very bothersome and unnecessary.

Very friendly reception by the staff. The restaurant was noisy. The tables are close to one another. The service was excellent and friendly. The pizza we ordered was the best pizza we have had in the D.C. Metro area. I ordered extra sauce for my pizza. I did not like the oil used on the salad. Enjoy with friends.

the food was really good but the service was less than stellar...in fact, it was less than "just ok". i am hoping it was just my server who was just inattentive-- it was NOT busy at all...in fact, he may have had only 2 customers...

taking over 10 min to come back after he poured my water to ask if i wanted anything else--is ridiculous for a restaurant that wasn't busy. i had more attention with the folks delivering my appetizers and food.

that made the evening very disappointing--and i won't go back.

We enjoyed all our dinners on Tue which is 1/2 price wine night. The chicken parm is excellent and is the largest portion I've ever seen. All the pastas are very good too. The ricotta cheesecake is yummy. Our server Sam was attentive, pleasant and professional. Great neighborhood place. Recommend.

Three of us went there for restaurant week. The selections were good and plentiful. The chicken parmigiana was a portion big enough to feed two (I took half home to have for dinner the next night). My wife enjoyed the salmon and our friend liked the osso buco.

A group of friends went to Alta Strada for restaurant week. The food and drinks were delicious. We did have to wait a bit past our reservation to be seated, and we were placed in the "bar" area so our service was a little slow. Food was worth the wait though. I would recommend Alta Strada, especially on a night where they are having special deals!

We dine at Alta Strada often and more often than not, the mafalde pasta dominates our orders. It’s hard to pick something else when you’ve tasted the perfect, creamy, flavorful dish. The portion is generous and I always eat way more of my dish than I want to. Pair it with an arugula salad and a pizza for the table.

Went for my birthday celebration with friends. We actually missed the reservation by 7mins. The Lead Hostess was very nice - she worked us in. The place was packed on. Friday night. The waiter was perfect.. very attentive. Actually the entire team working our section was great. Pitching in all the way around to be sure that all tables in the section were attended to. I would go later next time 6:30 is very busy there- it was also restaurant week. Overall it was a good experience...

We had a nice time. Service could have been better and food was somewhat disappointing.

The waiter that delivered the courses did not know who got what and had to ask.

No Parmesan cheese was offered and when I did ask for it, it came in a ramekin with no spoon. Being an Italian restaurant I thought that was odd. Plus no spoon?

The giant chicken Parmesan was not great. It was dry. Disappointing. The zucchini noodles are interesting but they were somewhat limp. I would get pasta next time.

The waitress brought our desserts, never offered us coffee which was really too bad as we would have some. Our loss, and hers.

I like the restaurant and the food on other occasions but I think there is a lack of training here with this waiter and maybe the restaurant week was a factor in all of this? Either way, it was not my best experience.

Disappointed with the very, very, small tables for two people. Tables are very close together. I could easily have entered into a discussion with the people at tables next to me but could not talk with my wife across table because of the noise. I very rarely see a wine list which I do not know at least a few wines. This was one of those wine lists. Parking was difficult. The food was very good but think this is not my kind of restaurant. I would not recommend to a friend.
