Amal was absolutely amazing! Even with the outdoor seating due to covid. The food was truly AMAZING! I would highly recommend the tartare, the hummus, the lamb and the beef skewers 😍 hopefully when this is all done I can go back and have indoor dinning! I highly recommend and the staff was extremely friendly and personable
A wonderful experience! I recently held a small birthday Dinner at Amal and I feel compelled to leave a rave review. First of all, the outdoor patio is GORGEOUS (talk about ambiance!) and so so warm.
Our server, Ali, was amazing! He was super friendly and attentive. His immense knowledge of the food and drink menus made ordering very easy for first time diners like ourselves.
Amal offers Family-Style dining so a couple of appetizers along with a Kebab Platter was more than enough for 4 people. The food came out promptly and was incredibly delicious.
P.S. Do yourself a favour and make sure to order the Garlic Labneh dip as an app. I’m still dreaming about those hand-made pitas
We had Dana and Joshua they were both amazing service was on point! Beautiful ambiance love the food!
Our server, Dana, was outstanding!!!
Our server should teach lectures on customer service. The food was second only to my Teta (grandma in Arabic).
Wish Ford wasn’t trying to shut everything except mcodalds and Timmys down highly recommended!!
Great restaurant, exceptional wings! Great shawarma
Great food and great service and ambience, love the relaxed environment
Absolutely amazing! I will be eating here regularly. The outdoor dining area is so chic and warm. It’s very organized, clean. The food is fresh and the vibe is sexy.
The dinner was ruined by the comment of our waiter Ali about wasting the restaurants time. Even after clarifying that phase meaning didn’t have any willingness to eat and enjoy the food.
We were looking forward to giving Amal a try - a relatively new addition to our hood that had been written up in this month's Toronto Life. There seemed to be a lag time when we were first seated to move us to a better table in spite of having more than one empty table available. Finally when we were moved, we had to ask for service - again, not as prompt as we would have liked. I asked for lemon for my sparkling water which was served at room temperature (and with no ice) and there was no lemon! (My partner's glass of Chardonnay was also not served chilled.) Also, my partner's shrimp were overcooked, tough and not served hot. In spite of being labeled an "entrée", there were no sides included and no indication by the waitress or on the menu that sides were extra (the shrimp was $26 so would it hurt the bottom line to have added a scoop of rice to it?). My tagine fish burger was delicious, I must say and the lentil soup was hot and very good. All in all though, not an auspicious beginning. I also noticed one woman in the washroom who wasn't wearing a mask so they need to be more mindful about precautionary measures during COVID.
Went for brunch, great food and amazing service
The only one thing missing in my dine in experience was the lack of service the was given to us.
My server last night was in a bit of a rush when it comes to me and my friends for ordering food , we are well aware that we only have to 2 hours
When I tried to call her attention two times when I was ready to order my food
She didn’t acknowledge it and talk to other guests besides us.
Then she didn’t even us how we are all doing .
Also at the end of the night . A different server was sent to us to pay our bills.
And got charge $2 for a tap water
The hummus and Baba Ghanoush keep me coming back again and again. Also, the great service!
Amal is making an heroic effort to stay in business outdoors in the era of the totalitarian Fascist- Communist Doug Ford - Justin Trudeau lockdown. They continue to provide excellent service and great food! I look forward to dining indoors there whenever this is once again permitted!
Amazing overall experience with delicious Lebanese food!! Beautiful restaurant and great service with friendly staff.
Despite the fact that it was a very windy and cold evening, we were comfortable and felt safe on the heated patio. A very pleasant evening out.
Amal....just as the name evokes a sophisticated and gorgeous experience from the outside (decor, vibe, crowd), as it is on the inside (food, service, attitude). Not a surprise from one of the city's best restauranteurs and purveyors of experiences....This one was a favourite as are both Byblos locations, for it's Middleterranean cuisine and flare, which included outstanding service by Nadal.....super attentive and appropriately friendly like a brother, Nadal added as much to the experience as the great set up outdoors (Civid-times), and the food. The replacement Prosecco which was presented as a more expensive alternative, had its price adjusted once this MiddleEastern raised an eyebrow, with grace and fun bickering. The puffed up naan was a beautiful and tasty presentation of the staple, accompanied by it's less special flat package variety...which was the only thing I'd do without...I'll be back. And Nadal better still be there!
Given the circumstances of having to eat outside, everything was handled very very well.
I’ll definitely be back!
All the staff was great and went above and beyond to ensure that my boyfriends birthday was better than he could imagine. 5 stars for the food and the date cake!
We were very comfortable being seated on the patio. It wasn’t chilly, the spacing between tables was very safe. The service was impeccable, the food was good but must of all the ambiance is my favourite.
Great brunch! Pancakes are delicious!
Not what I expected for a supposedly “fine-dining” place. Special treatment given to select people. Food was good though (Yorkville prices).
*Based on patio experience* I felt the wait staff was overwhelmed with the amount of people so your waitress was a bit short with us. The food was decent but I think being inside the restaurant and the beautiful interior would’ve made up for the overpriced average food. Wait for Toronto to open up again to experience this restaurant!
Amal was incredible! Delicious food and beautiful ambience. Our server Dana was lovely and made our experience wonderful, highly recommend! Get the date cake!
Great ambience. The patio was warm and cozy. The sections were divided in a manner that every table had its privacy. Food was good. Seating was comfortable. Perfect for a date night.
Was perfect and made our day
This restaurant is an oasis during these times. The staff are friendly and efficient and the food is great. The only thing is the heaters will have to get fired up for both lunch and dinner now!
We were on the patio in a rainy day, but were happy to be well protected by awnings and roof. I would like to go back some day (when Covid 19 is gone) when we can enjoy the beautiful dining room.
It was a pretty set up. Unfortunately it was extremely cold and we were seated on the edge and there are no heaters there, the wind was right against us as well. We were freezing the whole time which made the experience unpleasant. The food was very well plated but extremely bland. The price doesn’t match the food nor experience. Also do not come at brunch if you are vegetarian and want more than an appetizer, we waited for the “dinner menu” at 3:15 because of this. Overall experience 4/10 neither of us would return
Second time at Amal since recent opening. First time was delicious - I had the shakshouka that tasted amazing and was excited to go back. Second time (2 weeks later) ordered the same brunch, the shakshouka and had all my 3 eggs overcooked and not melting at all. Same for my brother... kindly asked for another one and this time the eggs where just not cooked enough.. it was like a soup in the plate and looked like someone had spit... also we had to asked many times to pita bread and they were bringing just for 1 personne whereas we were 3... very disappointing will not go back. Too bad it is inconsistent and so early
I would not recommend this place to my friends and family. The food was boring. The staff has a big head on their shoulder but nothing to show for it so embarrassing.
The food was delicious and the service was excellent 👍
Atmosphere was good, drinks were exceptional, loved the appetizers and small plates but the entrees were extremely basic and over priced. Was great to visit once but would eat there again because of the lack of value for what was served.
everything about this restaurant was amazing! would definitely revisit and recommend to everyone I know :)
Food was okay, didn't blow my mind. But a great ambience
Beautiful space, customer service left a lot more to be desired for such a tasteful place!
We had an absolutely amazing experience. The ambience, food and service was excellent. We definitely plan on returning very soon.
Beautiful decor and excellent service, I had the soup and it was excellent. This restaurant is not inexpensive but the patio is gorgeous and you feel like you've been treated well. I would recommend!
We really enjoyed our experience ,from arrival to departure!
We did not experience all of the dishes as we were pleasantly surprised by the size of sharing dishes .
Our server was amazing paid just enough attention.
We will definitely go back to enjoy other dishes .
