Food was very good, but service was inattentive and very slow. Dinner for 2 took over 2 hours. 30 minute wait just for apps. 2 water refills over whole dinner. Probably wouldn’t go back.
We were seated immediately when we arrived at restaurant. Bar drinks took 10-15 minutes to receive after each order through the meal. 2 bar drinks came out wrong, another waitress (not our waitress) named Valerie was kind and corrected them. We waited over an hour for our food. The burger was ordered medium well and came out medium rare, the bacon taco came out cold, my soup was warm, my husband ordered the carne asada plate and received the skirt steak al carbon instead. The waitress did bring out the correct order later. We did ask to speak to a manager and she comped some items off the ticket. It honestly seemed like our waitress had no idea that our dining experience was subpar.
Beautiful restaurant located in theatre district
Have eaten here twice with mixed results
Food presentation is great but carne asada over cooked on this occasion and none of our food came out hot. Not the meat, sauces or vegetables. Cocktails all needed more ice and service between courses was slow
Not sure if we will go back for dinner. Might just try the bar.
Elegant. Excellent Service. Fabulous Drinks. Superb Food.
My friends and I chose Ámbar for a mini reunion. The food and drinks were fantastic, as was the service. Don't skip out on desert! The Coconut Tres Leches cake, with fresh berries was delicious! The noise level was perfect-lively enough to keep the energy level up, yet at a pitch that allowed us to carry intimate conversations. I'd been there previously for drinks and snacks, and it is a great place for that or dinner. Wonderful place for all types of nights out.
Our food was warm close to cold. Our server was delightful and attentive. Unfortunately, the duck in mole was not to our liking. The short ribs were ok but cold. Hopefully, this is a one-time event. We will return as we love coming here.
Food was delicious, service was great!
Drinks are amazing
A fantastic overall vibe... delicious food and solid service. Highly recommend.
We really wanted to love this place. The restaurant is beautiful and the service was great. Our server Andrew had a great attitude and made sure we were taken care of.
Seating for 2 was too close to other couples. It is very uncomfortable trying to have a private conversation when you have a total stranger basically sitting 1 foot away. Food was average. Lacks seasoning and came out cold. We were looking forward to eating here as the menu looks amazing. AMBAR Ceviche was great and was the best thing we had. Duck Mole was good but came out cold and lacked a touch of salt. AL Carbon skirt steak was cold, lacked flavor, and just didn't taste good. We will give this place one more chance because the menu does look really good. Hopefully things improve.
The place is gorgeous. The service almost nonexistent. The food was cold and the halibut wasn’t at all fresh. We were 7 for dinner so they added 18% automatically. I added another 80$ on top of that. Had to get a manager to remove that extra $80. Overall? Go to this place for a margarita. Eat somewhere else.
The person who sat us was rude, she looked like she was bothered to seat us, didn’t even say a word. The waitress was great, but got our order wrong. Our drinks were the first thing we ordered and we didn’t get them until our food started coming out. My drink was lukewarm. Pretty expensive place for what they offer. Food was great, just not impressive.
Fabulous food. Must be a great chef in the kitchen
Great atmosphere and ambiance. Food was okay. Appetizer came out quick but drinks took a while. Asked for a dessert menu and didn't get it until after 15 minutes Evnn though our server passed our table 4 times. If you want a nice place for having a conversation and a drink probably not a dinner.
celebrated my wife's birthday and the hostess (Diana) was amazing, the waiter was great and even the front desk (Victor) gave us outstanding service. Would like to thank Victoria from the Perla for wonderful customer service as well as the valet staff. overall i gave this experience an A+++.
The table beside us had 8 gentlemen and they were very load and obnoxious. They were very very loud. That was my only complaint.
Great Job! Enjoyed it! Our waiter was stellar with conversation and food recommendations!
Ambar is a delightful place, beautifully decorated, lots of nice light in daytime. food is interesting upscale Mexican, very nicely done. Our server was solicitous, kind and helpful.
It was not very busy at lunchtime, so there was plenty of space between diners. Tables are well spaced, though, even if it had been full. One issue I have, however, is that not all staff wore masks. The state of Texas probably does not require it, but for the diners' sake, I believe the management should require their employees to mask up.
Prices are high—there is no child’s menu or vegan menu. $18 for a hamburger seems steep. The tuna appetizer was small and quite pricey. (Spicy, too) I had placed a reservation through Open Table and asked for a little something special for the 50th anniversary we were celebrating, but there was no acknowledgment of this. The restaurant is attractive and has a good location downstairs.
Went out here for my birthday. This was the first time for us here but we will definitely come back. Food was great. We had the ceviche for appetizer and shared the carnitas platter. This was lots of food. Can’t wait to try more from their menu.
The food and drinks were amazing. The service excellent.
We waited for 20 minutes seated and no one helped us.
Just all around excellent.
Dinner before attending the symphony.
Lovely building! Great menu and libations. Order the guacamole; you won’t be sorry.
Fabulous meal, and the specialty cocktail I tried was exceptional. We started with a Cream of Hatch Chile soup with mushrooms and pumpkin seeds - truly one of the best soups I've ever had. The Blueberry Duck was unbelievably good and the Mole sauce was....well, I don't have words for it. The plantains side dish was also perhaps the best plantains I've ever tasted. Service was up to the food quality. Ambar was a wow!
This restaurant was a wonderful find just a short walk from my hotel.
The server Jeramey was outstanding. Not only providing great service but filling me in on some history of the property.
The guacamole was spectacular, just do not order it if you are solo unless you want it as your meal. There was so much I was not able to finish it all.
I had a trio of tacos and the Carnitas was the best.
Incredible 2 story wall of tequilla to choose from.
Highly recommend you take the time to visit if you are in El Paso
Great! Jeramy was awesome. Drunks were exceptional and food delicious, I recommend the ceviche and coctel rojo to start. Ask for the habanero salsa!
The food was phenomenal and the atmosphere was amazing. It wasn’t loud inside and the service from our waitress was impeccable. I would highly recommend this place to anyone for a date night or etc. the food is abit pricey but you definitely get what you pay for with experience and quality.
From the start it wasn’t what we expected. Came in 10 min before our reservation the hostess told us it would be 10-15 min before being seated. No problem, we can wait at the bar. Host tells us to wait on an area that was packed. We decided to move to the bar and order our drinks. No stuffed olives for our martini, but no problem. 15-20 min go by no one checked on us to take us to our table. I go and ask the hostess. She says they are ready for us. They sat us at a table next to two other parties one on the right and one on the left. I could hear their conversations and they could hear mine. I get it, it’s the new modern way of restaurants, but it was my anniversary. I wanted a little more privacy. I did note this in my reservation just as an FYI. No acknowledgement of our special occasion at any point. Not that we were expecting a party, but a little gesture would have been awesome. The waiter was ok, but took to long on drinks and food. Food was average, nothing worth recommending. Food was cold as if it had been waiting in the kitchen. Portions were fair, prices a bit high. Cocktails were bland. The waiter told us they were a tequila bar, right before we left. Desserts were not enticing enough. Not a place I could recommend. Ambience was good and decor was cool. We would like to give it a second chance. Maybe it was just a bad night.
They took about 35min to serve our food. The waiter was kind and polite but was hardly preset. The food was ok. It’s definitely a cool spot to go and have a drink with friends not necessarily have some food.
Our waiter Gabriel was great with suggestions for appropriate substations based on likes and dislikes. The Trio Tacos to share was amazing as were the Short Ribs with the substitution Smashed Potatoes. Leave room for dessert. The Flan and Chocolate Mole Cake was amazing.
The meals we ordered were a huge disappointment, we won’t be going back anytime soon……
I always enjoy eating at this restaurant. The service is perfect.
We came here for our anniversary and we enjoyed it.
Me and my wife went for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. Everything was good, but the food was cold at arrival.
So welcoming! the staff was super friendly and efficient. The cocktails were delicious and so was the food. We had a cozy booth and it felt very private. Always love to come here.
Loved my tacos and the drinks were superb! Really loved the decor as well.
Great food and service. First time ever in the Plaza. They did a great job
