Food was cold, service was poor, acted like we were a nuisance. Paid extra for the outdoor dining ant it wasn’t worth it. Never again.
The bottomless brunch seems like it would be a great place for groups because it would be easy to pay instead of figuring out who had what or who drank. The food was delicious, but would come out irregularly is a share tapas style. The service was slow as we sat well over 10 min before we saw our waiter and he wasn't bothered by the delay we experienced. He also wasn't too attentive to our drink needs. Aside from him, our experience was great.
The food and service were both excellent. I’ll be returning soon!
Always a great place for a good dinner and ambiance.
The sharing of dishes made the meal fun. We enjoyed trying small taste of dishes that we might never have ordered as a main meal.
Good food, service, and vibe! I have known this place since 2018.
Took family (6) including our 2 grandsons, ages 9 and 11, for the experience of eating Balkin food. I had eaten brunch there once but tried lunch this time. Food, service and experience surpassed our expectations. We thought the lunch selections were better than the brunch foods we had before. Everyone in the party made selections and shared. Some of our favorites were the ajvar spread and salamis, veal soup, Balkin salad, slow roasted lamb, steak tartar, pork neck and all the vegetables we tried. Service was impeccable and patient. Kids and adults totally enjoyed and hope to come back.
Fantastic menu - love the Balkan Experience
Foood was great, but took a while to come out, maybe because it was a holiday night.
It’s a good experiment but food isn’t that great. It’s ok but not to be qualified as DC’s top restaurants
Comida elaborada pero con sabor medio. Sin embargo la experiencia es única.
We were visiting from out of town and wanted to try something different. We had the “all you could eat” deal where you picked different dishes and shared. Everything was high quality and delicious. The chef has created a gem of a dining experience.
Enjoyed a pleasant dinner outside on a busy Saturday night. The four of us had the $39.95 tasting menu -which was pushed hard by staff and signage - but a la carte is available too. Considerable confusion with food delivery, as various wait staff were unsure of the destination of dishes as they continued to pour out of the kitchen. In the end, plenty of interesting, delicious food for the table.
It was good waiter could have been a little more attentive
I went to Ambar restaurant and I had so much fun. My friends also enjoyed the food it was really good!
The service was incredible!
Great birthday celebration
Amazing! 10/10 would recommend, from the food to the environment to the service. I would suggest getting there a bit early for Saturday brunch at 10 a.m. to beat the incoming crowd. Also loved the mango hibiscus mimosa and the cinnamon sweet sourdough with nutella. Perfect brunch with your tribe and then a stroll down to Eastern Market after until you get sober.
Always great food with good service and tasty cocktails
Lo mejor de DC. Ambiente súper, comida a otro nivel.
Fun, tasty, small plates. We sat outside. Waitstaff was appropriately attentive.
Great menu format with unlimited selections and unlimited cocktails. Highly recommend!
Very good restaurant, and we would dine here, again. Our server was wonderful - friendly, efficient, laughed politely at my terrible jokes.
My Ambar Old Fashioned was one of the best I've had and my wife's wine was delectable. We truly enjoyed the tomato soup and vegetables, which were elevated classics. The shrimp and cevapi was cooked just right. Only downside was the salmon was a bit salty.
The atmosphere was fine outside, but given the location, it was fairly busy with foot traffic. We were separated by a partition, which was a nice touch...and it was totally our choice to be outside. The ambiance inside looked inviting. I'd come back just to dine inside.
Very good food. We weren't familiar with Bosnian food and our waiter was very helpful. Great first meal for our trip. Definitely recommend.
First time here and it was delicious. The “experience” where you get unlimited small plates and drinks allowed for great variety of the amazing cuisine. They were out of several dishes we wanted to try, but there are more than enough to completely satisfy. My only (minor) complaint is that the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed and/or inattentive at times. I don’t know if that’s to limit eating and drinking or bad training or understaffing issues.
We’ll be back and everyone should visit at least once.
Great service and amazing food! Amazing value for the food that you get!
Food was great and our server was great. I believe his name was Velro. The only negative for my experience was the "runners" dropping our food at the table in a hastened manner.
Wonderful assortment of dishes to try. Everything was tasty. Excellent service.
Great lunch options! Love the small servings all included. Great value on the drinks and they were excellent. Service was top notch. Only thing I would have liked to have is some draft beer.
I love this place. Their lunch special is unparalleled and the neighborhood is so cute to walk around in before or after. The BALKAN SALAD TAKES THE CAKE- you can ask our waitress, I ordered three back to back. That cheese hits different.
Great value! The food quality was good and we didn't have anything we didn't like. Will definitely return.
We went for a special occasion with a group and it was perfect! We did the unlimited food and drink and our server was so attentive. It was a lovely time and I'm looking forward to going back.
Every dish was amazing! Definitely go hungry and don’t underestimate how much many small dishes can fill you up.
Food was very tasty. Paying the $25pp we were able to taste and try several tapas dishes.
The waiter and the team assisting (picking up and bringing dishes) were very helpful and polite.
Great value for the price!
First time here, our server was so well trained and made our experience terrific. She knew the menu and kept our fun level up with each surprise from the kitchen. Her bussers were also good, always asked if we were finished with a plate, brought new dishes out and carefully placed them. Oh, the service and atmosphere (we sat outside) were so good, almost forgot to mention the brilliant food. Plate sizes were perfect for three people and everything was delicious. All veg dishes were extraordinary and the lamb lasagne devine. We must have tried 40-50% of the menu. Younger diners will probably get through 70%. Yummmmm!
My husband and I had another great experience at Ambar! Tamara, our server was outstanding!! A definite must when in DC!!
Great small dishes with both meat and veggie options. The sofa arrangement is very comfortable, and the service is great!
