Great food, great service, great atmosphere. One of my favorite spots in Philly!
The food is delicious and our server was great as well.
Very considerate staff. Service was excellent. It was a Tuesday night (7:45) reservation) so that may have made it easier to serve. Management checked on our table but was not intrusive. He brought us an extra appetizer. As it turns out, I liked the courtesy Brussels Sprout with cauliflower puree, Parm and truffle oil dish the best. Since we did not order that dish I guessed it was a Bechamel sauce with Parm folded in. I was wrong :-). The others: octopus, grilled artichokes. I happen to like my octopus dishes with a bit more char than most people but I can say it was one of the most tender octopus dishes I ever had. At one point we almost ordered the Crispy Gnocchi as a split app but decide it was too much. Our server informed us that we could order a half portion. My friend was happy but still ended taking most of it home. I had the Duck Breast. Perfectly cooked and nicely salted. Salt flakes were a nice touch. My companions had the Papardelle with pork ragu and Veal Medallions. They enjoyed both. The meal started with our BYOB: Barbera d'Asti from Moore Bros., DE and finished with a bold, velvety Cab. The Barbera would have been great for the whole meal but that went fast :-).
Enjoyed the food!
We are regulars at this neighborhood restaurant. The dishes are consistently terrific - the salmon, monkfish & brussell sprouts are favorites.
Our food was outstanding but there was a hurried feel to everything. The experience would have been more satisfying and charming if they slowed down the pace.
We were a party of 6 and 2 of us arrived early and asked to sit at an open table near the front door. Instead we were seated facing the open kitchen (eventhough the other table sat empty for another 30 minutes). The space was narrow, very hot and close to the bathroom, so lots of people coming and going. Our waiter was rude. The entrees did not all come out together. No apologies. Food was good but the experience overall was very disappointing. If you want customers to come back, next time go out of your way to accommodate them.
Food is over the top especially the pasta dinners . Cooked to perfection. Just as delicious as Marc Vetres
I had lunch here about a month ago and returned for dinner with my husband. Both were excellent in all ways. Sadly, even the best places are noisy these days and while they do take measures to control it , nothing is perfect. Nonetheless it is on our “go to” list. Kudos to the owners!
I had Saturday night reservations with my partner and another couple. It was at 9:00. Nice energetic dining room. We were sat in a few minutes and service began promptly. Our server Noel took command of the table...it felt like it was going to be a great experience...until the appetizers arrived. Two orders of beef carpaccio, grilled artichokes and beet salad. One carpaccio was served icy and the other one was served as frozen as a popsicle right out of the freezer. When brought to Noel's attention, he immediately started to give an in-service on how to slice carpaccio. We all listened and after he left, we all agreed that the frozen carpaccio should never have been served frozen. I will give Ambrosia a second chance, but unfortunately, the couple we brought that night said they will never return.
Great time and reasonably priced (BYOB too!). We’ll worth a visit.
Great food and very accommodating for an add the day before.
Everything was just fabulous.
Top of my go to list
Our 3d visit to Ambrosia. Consistently good food and service. Tried different dishes each time, all fine.this time a saffron driven broth for mussels and the grilled octopus stood out. Do give Ambrosia a try.
By far, this is one of the best restaurants in Philadelphia!!! The food was absolutely delicious! We had appetizers, entrees and desserts. The flavor combinations were unique, the pastas (which are homemade) absolutely incredible, and the desserts delicious. The presentation of the food was wonderful. It is by far our new favorite restaurant.
Everything was absolutely delicious!! Service was excellent! Will definitely go again
Ambrosia continues to amaze everyone I bring there. Went with two first timers and they couldn’t stop raving about the pasta and appetizers. For special occasions or everyday dining you can’t go wrong
Have been there several times since opening and this time took an out of town friend. Food is consistently delicious, done perfectly, nice portions, priced appropriate for city. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Love that is BYOB. Will be back!
Food was good, however portions are very VERY small especially the appetizers. We had a party of three and we each were able to have one bite of calamari each. The service was (believe it or not) TOO much. They basically were standing at our table and constantly pouring water after taking one sip. Flattered that they wanted to keep us hydrated however having someone standing over your table whilst talking was uncomfortable. I think I would order pick up from this place vs dining in.
Overall excellent food (except for the octopus: too chared). Friendly and attentive service. Would go back in a heart beat.
It was our first time coming to this restaurant and it was awesome! The service - down to the very last person who worked there - was amazing! They really take care of you and treat you like they are so happy you came to their restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious! Sometimes I have trouble at restaurants because I have a food allergy and they made sure they made something I could eat and it was fantastic! Both our meals were incredible and before we even finished we knew we’d be back. I’d definitely recommend Ambrosia!!
wonderful dinner....great staff.....neighborhood gem
Wonderful BYOB. Pasta is homemade and delicious. Lamb special was amazing. Must go.
Awesome choice for homemade Italian! Everything on the menu is wonderful! It is a bit loud... but just because everyone is chatting and having a good time!
This restaurant was AMAZING!!!! Food is priced just right (not too expensive) for the quality you get. My boyfriend and I got the calamari and brussel sprouts to start which were awesome, then the special tortellini of the night and the papardelle dish. Both had so much flavor! The waiter we had was tentative and knowledgeable about the dishes, definitely a must for a philly night out!
Wonderful BYOB with great service and food . The home made pasta.was delicious . We had the papardelle with short rib ragu , the crispy gnocchi and the butternut squash ravioli all we wonderful.
AMAZING food and service. Will definitely go back (and hopefully often!)
Wonderful personalized service from the owner. Best pasta We’ve had in a long time!
Great restaurant with beautiful ambiance! Waitress was very kind and attentive. Only negative was we were sent home with a different table’s leftovers due to the busy atmosphere.
I’ve been to this restaurant a few times now since it opened almost a year ago. Each time the food gets better. The short rib papardelle is delicious. Felt slightly rushed by the waitstaff but that may have been a onetime thing.
Ambrosia is a special place....great food, welcoming and competent staff, and incredibly delicious food...A BYOB that is a cut above others in the city. Delightful during warm months when you can eat outside and also pleasurable indoors..tho busy with all tables filled and space is small.
The noise level wasn’t a problem for us (table for 2)...8:00 PM on weeknight.
Staff is friendly, capable, and eager to please....chef is creating delicious dishes!
Ambrosia was fantastic. Food was great, service was impeccable. I wish I took photos because the food looked as great as it tasted.
Always the best quality and service. Totally reliable EVERY time.
food was excellent! love that it's byob. server was informative, efficient, personable and pleasant. in fact, all staff were very welcoming. we will go back again.
It was my first time but the service was excellent and so was the food! I'll be going back for sure.
Lovely late Sunday brunch. Restaurant was very quiet because there were few diners. Excellent service and food. Highly recommended.
Our third time and not disappointed! Excellent service, great food and exceptional company ... it all makes up for a wonderful evening. Will come back again!
the food and the service are worth coming back for.
I would recommend this spot to anybody.
The food was excellent—
The service was attentive and cordial—
Enjoyed being able to see (if I desired) the chef at work
The place is tucked in a quiet residential neighborhood or hood which added to the charm.
The waiter Noel was perfect. The beer carpaccio was to die for as well as the octopus
