American Bar Restaurant
The vegan option was delicious. Service friendly and efficient.
The new Menu is very exciting and our first taste of what's on offer this season was sensational. Mary and her waiting staff are superb: welcoming and attentive, they are a vital part of what makes the ambience of the American Bar Restaurant so relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable. The ability of everyone – in the kitchen and the restaurant – to turn round a lot of meals in the comparatively short period before curtain-up is nothing short of miraculous. Pre-theatre dinner at the American Bar Restaurant is, for us, a key element in the pleasure we take from coming to the ENO.
Service was particularly good, professional and friendly. A soothing preparation for the rehearsal that we we were attending.
Excellent service from all of the waiting staff at the Bar. The food was excellent in comfortable surroundings and with an intimate feel due to the small size of the restaurant. I would highly recommend a meal here before the opera. The only small improvement to be made would be to have all dishes included in the 3 courses for £27 as this meant that vegetarians couldn't have this deal as only meat options were included.
We were encouraged to 'try' the American bar at ENO, having never been before. Very pleasant experience. Food very good, service excellent and a quiet discreet venue.
Tried the restaurant after a dress rehearsal at ENO. Very pleasant experience with good service and general ambiance. Food marked down slightly as herb crust on hake was rather tasteless, I noticed other diners scraping theirs off. Otherwise the food was excellent and we would certainly book again.
Food quality poor. Very disappointed.
Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with us. We very rarely have complaint on our food and a constructive feedback would be welcome. You can contact me at email@example.com. Alexandre Harnisch, General Manager
A wonderful start to our evening, the staff were outstanding, service was friendly and efficient.
Menu was real value for money.
Loved the fact that you could return for dessert in the interval as this gave a chance to digest the starter and main meal.
Once again thank you to the lovely smiling, friendly staff.
Food and service very good. Great location for a meal before a show starts in the theatre. Dessert and coffee was ready for us at the same table during the interval.
The food we had was lovely and the staff very friendly and professional.
We booked the restaurant as it was in the theatre where we were seeing a show, mainly for the convenience, but it was a delight, the staff were friendly and attentive, the menu choice was excellent and the food delicious, would certainly go again, well worth the trip and the prices cheaper than normal London prices, more like you would pay outside of London, this place is a hidden gem
We ate at the American Bar as we were seeing a show there. The food was very well presented and tasty and the service was excellent. We would have no hesitation in recommending the American Bar.
We booked the American Bar last minute as a surprise for my husband's birthday and emailed ahead to let them know. The staff were amazing, a young Italian gentleman, and a Spanish lady, both of whom were polite, interesting, attentive and a pleasure to be served by!
My husband received a glass of champagne and a birthday card and the food was lovely.
We will be going again!
As usual everything was excellent
The atmosphere is relaxed in this small underground restaurant. My reservation said I needed to show my ticket for the performance to have access to the restaurant but the staff said it was open to anyone. You just have to eat between 5 and 7.30. If you have a ticket for the show you can have your dessert at the interval or just a drink ready for you at your table. This is a much nicer way to have an interval drink than being in the busy foyer.
The food was fantastic: menu inspired by the show. I went to see on your feet the story of Gloria Estefan sk I had Cuban sandwich which was delicious. I also had a Tian of tuna with guacamole but there was a choice of steak and chimichurri sauce as well. Dessert was exotic, remembering Cuba and Florida together. What a fantastic idea and what amazing food. Chefs are brilliant and the waiting staff give you all their attention. The set menu is very reasonably priced and you can choose to have just one dish if you want. The place is quiet and relaxing.
I liked that I could eat at the same place as the theatre and had the Tian of crab with guacamole as starter which was really good. I chose the Tomato carpaccio as main. Not quite what I expected, as I thought I was ordering the cold soup, but it was ok. I would definitely come back
It was our first experience of the national coliseum and we thoroughly enjoyed it.The menu choices were okay but good value for money even when drinks were added. We loved being able to come back and have our desert in the interval. Would definitely recommend to friends.
Really enjoyed our meal. Service was great and very friendly. Perfect to have the dessert during the interval!
My friend and I had the same meal (pork sandwich), however, her's was made fresh because she does not eat cheese. My sandwich arrived with the pork lukewarm and the following day I became very unwell. I question the preparation of the food here. The service was wonderful and otherwise I had a lovely time.
We are sorry to hear that you were unwell this week end. Our food is fresh and made to order. The Cuban sandwich meat is kept in the fridge then warmed with the sandwich when melting the cheese with no further cooking required. Nevertheless, we are taking allegation on our food very seriously and I would appreciate if you could get in touch with me at firstname.lastname@example.org in order to start an investigation. Great presentation of food and vegan choice for small menu.
The staff were very attentive and friendly.
Excellent meal before seeing show at Coliseum.
Staff very attentive and very friendly
Highly recommend the restaurant. Hidden gem.
Excellent pre theatre meal. Very good value for money but excellent quality nevertheless. Very efficient and friendly staff. Would certainly eat here again and recommend it
Great option if you are seeing a show at The Coliseum. You have the table for the whole evening so you can opt to go back and have desert and/or a drink during the interval and not have to fight for one at the public bar. Friendly, helpful staff and good value for money. Will definitely book again.
Very convenient and good food. Could do with a bit more choice for a set menu pre theatre, but really enjoyed.
Excellent way to dine b
efore a show. Good menu choices. Very attentive service.
The ambiance, friendliness of the staff and quality of the food was exceptional. My daughter and I dined there before our theatre event, and were extremely surprised at how good the food was. We felt we were in a fine-dining restaurant and highly recommend American Bar Restaurant.
One of the West End's best kept secrets! Would hightly recommend, great food and excellent service, will definitely be back.
Fabulous friendly service- very attentive and nice! Food is wonderful and delicious. Will definitely eat here again before a show!
It was a hidden gem and we loved it. It was a fantastic experience to find. a restaurant inside the Theatre and what an excellent service. Food was great and staff was fantastic. I would definitely recommend it anyone.
The food was only just average. Beware that the £16 2 course can soon escalate if you decide to have a drink or 2.
Convenient for the theatre. The menu was good value for money and nice to be able to return to the table for half time drinks.
Will use again.
Staff were really helpful and friendly. Not hurried with dining! Added to the ambience of the whole evening. Would fully recommend and we will repeat the experience
The food portions were very good and the food was excellent. It was lovely to have the option of desert and coffee waiting for us at our table, in the interval. It took the pressure off where to eat before the show started. Good value for money and every member of the team were attentive and friendly. I would thoroughly recommend it.
Disappointing as they only offered a set menu
We booked on the understanding that the menu on line was on offer
Only 3 tables dining 6 people in total
Food wasn't great at all
We are very surprised with your review. All guests so far have been praising our summer menu, our food, and the fact that it was themed around the show, with the Hake in banana leaf and the Cuban sandwich having the best ratings. Would you mind emailing me a constructive feedback at email@example.com? I will gladly take it from there.
We enjoyed a lovely meal prior to the production of on your feet, good food, excellent service, and a short walk to the theatre 😁
Great for enjoying the show. The food was lovely and we were able to go back in the interval to finish out wine.
Great place to meet for pre-theatre dinner although initially service was slow but did improve. Lovely menu and delicious puddings!
Great idea to link set meal with the show. We really enjoyed the Cuban menu. Our only disappointment was that the show finished earlier than expected and we were not allowed to enter the restuarant we had to wait 20 minutes. The service was excellent, restaurant lovely except for cheap looking wooden salt & pepper pots on tables. Would recommend to others.
An amazing calm environment to have good food before a show .
Particularly liked the fact you could have dessert or coffee during the interval
Great restaurant for pre-theatre dinner served quickly and timely by a lovely waitress. Would definetly recommend
