Minutes from the bustle and bankers of Canary Wharf is Amerigo Vespucci, offering the diner
impressive dockside views and a true taste of Italy, right in the heart of London’s financial district. The fresh and imaginative menu offers excellent choice – from simple but bursting-with-flavour pasta dishes to generous-sized meat and fish courses, while daily changing specials make the most of what’s on sale at the local market. Step inside the nautical-themed dining room or enjoy an aperitif on the large alfresco terrazzo and relax in the capable hands of the experienced and friendly waiting staff. Hot and cold starters pave the way for a fresh-food feast.
Best Italian in the Docklands.
Saturday: 18:00 - 23:00
Good food. The best seafood linguine in town.
Slightly slow service sometimes, but in general very good place.
When a restaurant knows it is short on wait staff and will struggle to give service, it should be upfront about it and manage expectations. Apologising when they bring the bill and belatedly offering limoncello is no use. On arrival to find that for a party of 3 flagged as a birthday dinner we are offered the table nearest the flow of people between the door and the loo wasn't a good augury. We suggested another table but that was 'reserved' although no-one sat at it for the rest of the evening. However, a third table was offered to our satisfaction and there we sat. Nothing said about the birthday, then or throughout the evening. Perhaps they only notice if you bring balloons as did the 60th party and the 50th party that turned up later on.
Don't think that service wasn't personable, it was friendly enough but stressed and busy staff don't radiate a good vibe that says 'we're glad you're here'. Bruschetta for the table turned up after the starters so that was another unintended timing trip-up.
Never mind all that, what was the food like? Brilliant as always at AV. I remarked that the biggest problem with the menu is FOMO - whatever you order there is the 'fear of missing out' if someone on the table loves something more than you. This time everyone ordered different things and everyone was so happy with what they got that there was no envy at all. All plates went back completely empty.
Nobody is ever likely to say that AV is a cosy restaurant, business-like is probably all you can say, no extra points for vibe or music. Maybe we should try Deliveroo and get their food in our home instead....
Great flexibility, had requested outside table but was too hot. Moved inside very smoothly. Great food and superb service.
Good food. Nice people.
Good selection of wine as well
Always quite busy.
The food was excellent but the restaurant was understaffed and therefore, although very pleasant, the staff just couldn’t cope. It was a pity as our friends are American and are used to a totally different level of service, we ended up feeling very embarrassed about the whole experience.
The food was very good...Service very prompt. ..Staff were very friendly and helpful. ..We will come again and probably bring people with us next time
Superb overall experience
Perfect in every way from service to food. Been coming here for many years now and never been disappointed.
The restaurant had a very Italian feel. The food was great with the scallops “Capesante con Pancetta e Purea di Piselli“ one of the best starters I have had for a long time. I ordered one of my favourites which is “Lasagne alla Siciliana” with a twist and it delivered. I would recommend this restaurant.
Food was excellent as always and the service was friendly.
This was our first visit for many years and all changes are very positive with terrific food and wine list and wonderful attentive service. Atmosphere was lively and a very mixed crowd in terms of age groups. Strongly recommend to friends and will be returning soon.
Excellent food and wonderful attentive service!
Its a lovely restaurant with choice of sitting either inside or outside so you can people watch whilst enjoying the wonderful food. The calamari and sea food linguini, was especially good.
Brilliant on all fronts.
Was a good meal, service was a little hit and miss though!!!
Been a few times now and always the best food and service.
I enjoyed Christmas lunch with work colleagues here last year so decided to bring a friend who was visiting London. Again, we were not disappointed! My seafood linguine was excellent - just the right amount of prawn, mussel, clams and lobster. Service was attentive. Would highly recommend
Ambience / setting is nice, tables well arranged and not too close.
Starters were very good in terms of both quality and size.
White house wine was a disapointment, not cold enought and too strong. The red was better.
Both of us ordered stakes, with different sauces, one well done, one medium.
They had them mixed up so we ate a third of the wromg stake before realizing the mistake.
The bill took forever to come. Prices quite reasonable for Canary Wharf. If you dont wanna splash at Gaucho, Roka or Plateau, this restaurant will do. But dont expect to be blown away.
Only thing can be point not liked. If improved, rest all amazing.
Food was delicious. Veg and non veg both options. Good drink options.
Excellent Italian food and service - fautless
Lovely place food hot and plentiful. Staff very attentive happy and polite even though it was a busy evening.
Great food and service. Love the Italian greetings which make it more fitting. Only critique was the music needed to be louder as felt slightly formal
Impeccable service with the usual lobster pasta. Italian friend was impressed, especially with the Spaghetti alla Crema d’Aragosta and the after dinner drinks.
This is one of my favourite restaurants. I work in the area and try to visit as often as possible. The food is incredible, so incredible that I took my partner for a day out in London for his 30th and we waited until they opened for their dinner service. The staff are very attentive and the ambience is quiet enough for a date night.
Great Real Italian Food!!! I recommend and would definitely return.
Great Italian food, good location next to the canal for summer outside dining. Service is friendly and really excellent.
Very much enjoyed this restaurant. The food was excellent all the way around as were
the drinks and wine selection.
We had a wonderful meal and a great time. Will definitely come back here again!
My friend and I were in the area for a weekend and were looking for a restaurant with pasta dishes, something local to our hotel. After finding you on google we decided to reserve a table. We were very happy with the location and the service. The food was delicious, the wine list very extensive and the staff were attentive but not overwhelming. When next in the area I will definitely return.
When in Canary Wharf I always use this venue as never been disappointed. Everyone we take always return and say how good it is.The best restaurant by far.
Been many times and never fails to impress. Food really good service with a smile.
Very good good and staff, but food served too slowly.
Great food and relatively good value for money. However we had a table booked for 7.30 and after being seated we seem to be forgotten about. 30 min wait until we ordered food and a further 30min wait for our starters - tricolor salad, bruschetta and the rissotto special. After chasing up where our order the older waitress did provide excellent service and tried to make up for being forgotten about. Unfortunate, as everything else was excellent.
Was a lovely experience with quick service, not intrusive and great food! Just loud enough music to still be able to hear each other speak and as it was a business meeting, no one around to eves drop.
Great place for business, date, out with friends or special occasions. Love this place!
Very good restaurant for a business meeting
I took clients here on a Tuesday lunchtime.
The food was delicious and the service timely, efficient and friendly.
Being in London it did seem a bit pricey but the quality was good.
Very nice food. Nicely presented. Atmosphere was very pleasant. Service was excellent.
My favourite place on the Wharf, a rarity, an independent (not a chain). Always very welcoming, very authentically Italian. I have been going there for 5 years since I change jobs from the City to the Wharf and long may it continue.
Lovely restaurant, smart outside bar, was nice going outside to smoke and being able to buy a drink from the outside bar, views were wonderful. The food was fresh, steak cooked to perfection as were the sauté potatoes, lovely crispy crunch to them and the vegetables were cooked nice also, compliment to the chef. Will definitely be back.
Great food, service, atmosphere, fit for any occasion
This was my second time eating here and it did not disappoint. Excellent menu - lots of different options. Got the scallops starter which was v tasty . Each got chicken main courses which were both excellent. Instead of a dessert I got an espresso martini which was up there with the best I have had!
Service was that great combination of attentive but not over bearing.
Would highly recommend.
