Friendly attentive staff, nice setting, good sized portion and food very good. I would recommend and revisit again.
Have always enjoyed the wonderful service. The ambience is lovely. Food outstanding. It's a beautiful intimate restaurant for special occasions.
I was pleased to see so many gluten free options on their menu and with so many dishes I would like to have tried. The beef brisket was so tasty with the delicious gravy and dauphinoise potato. The vegetables were spiralised, which made them lighter and more interesting. The gf sticky toffee pudding was to die for. The room was all done out with Christmas lights on garlands and this made it feel really special. We ate there on a second night and I had the fish pie, huge portion, very tasty. Great value for money considering the size and quality of the dishes. Great wine too, not too expensive for a bottle. Would love to eat here again.
Excellent food and service. Nice place to visit. Recommend to anyone who enjoys seafood
Food for all five of us was fabulous. Service was great. Prices on the higher side so good for a special celebration rather than regular eating out. The only downside was that it got quite hot towards the end of the evening.
A lovely hidden gem with delicious food, nice atmosphere, helpful staff and not bad value either. Will definitely be returning.
We had a fabulous meal on our honeymoon.
Quality and flavours of food were lovely and worth every penny for a special occasion.
Good choice on the menu.
Definately would recommend
We went for an anniversary treat while staying at the hotel. The service was friendly and attentive (but not too much!) and the food (we had fish) was well cooked and seasoned. The menu is more traditional but the prices are reasonable and we would certainly go back.
Fantastic food, friendly and good value, highly recommended. I definitely would return to try more dishes
Had a wonderful family meal. Everyone absolutely loved their food. My youngest daughter had king prawn and chorizo for a starter and loved it so much she would not let us try any! Our eldest had the chicken pate and it was beautiful. My husband and I had the scallops with black pudding and bacon it was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. I won’t go into details with the main but suffice to say none could be faulted. The staff were attentive and friendly and the restaurant decor was beautiful. It’s a shame it’s not on our door step as it would become a regular treat.
Food was amazing and we will be back. Thoroughly enjoyable evening with attentive staff.
Decent modern British cooking. Disappointed with haggis balls starter. Strange slimy texture inside. Nothing like haggis. Everything else was good to very good. Would go again, so that tells its own story.
A very good small hotel with excellent welcoming staff and a perfect restaurant. The evening meal in Andersons and breakfast were wonderful and very good value. I would thoroughly recommend Forest House and would certainly go back if I needed to stay in the Forest of Dean.
The staff were very welcoming and efficient without being pushy. The food was excellent, with a good choice of dishes all well presented. If pushed to be critical, we were looking for a slightly more intimate experience but the tables were a little too close for our liking. The single unisex toilet also seems inadequate for the size of the establishment and again not to our liking. However, these are personal views and should detract from the excellent food and service provided by this establishment.
Staff were attentive but gave us a lot of space. Food was very tasty. Would definitely go back
A lovely location, great decor, welcoming atmosphere, delightful personnel, and a large and varied menu. The food was delicious and prompt. Rounded off a great day in the Forest of Dean!
Food was well-presented, but unfortunately was VERY bland; the Asian-style cod and prawn fish cakes and the smoked salmon and salmon mousse starters, in particular, had very little taste. The trio of fish main was much better, but the stuffed courgettes was also a little disappointing. We still enjoyed the evening and had a decent meal, but were expecting more really. On the whole, not bad, but wouldn’t rush to come back.
This is our third time.....Friendly, Amazing food, reasonably priced.
A lovely setting with attentive staff and fantastic food. This was our second visit and definitely not our last!I think we need to book a stay at this fabulous place.
Lovely setting, food was excellent quality and the portions were huge for the value. Hosting was faultless. Definitely going back!
Food was very good at a really good price, we had three courses ,wine, and other drinks and was pleasantly surprised at it costing only £85. Will definitely go again
A lovely meal with a great atmosphere and extremely friendly staff
I live two hundred yards away and would go every week if I could afford to.
Our meal was for our wedding anniversary so it was a special occasion. We were greeted by friendly, happy staff. The bar area is cosy and creates a relaxed atmosphere. Our drinks were served promptly while we chose from the menu.
The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, and the decor is light and very tastefully done.
Our food was delicious and presented really well. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole occasion. Will definitely visit again.
The staff were attentive and very sociable at all times.
Excellent service all round. Food was excellent and waiting staff regularly checking that everything was ok.
As the stars indicate, everything was outstanding — from the quality and portions of food (the mixed platter seafood was excellent) to the friendliness of the waiting staff and the prices. Because it’s part of a hotel (an old, big house with an interesting history), the restaurant seems unimposing from the outside. Don’t be put off — as the saying goes, the proof of the pudding is in the eating.
Amazing food and lovely staff. Very low price for quality and size of portions. Amazing. Only wish we lived closer so we could make it a new regular
Superb food, excellent service, highly recommended.
Fantastic food, all obviously freshly cooked by someone who cares about what they are presenting to their guests. The service was great, unobtrusive, but ready when needed.
Faultless service and food. Also not overpriced. Would visit again.
We were staying at Whitemead forest park and found this restaurant. Most of us could have ate any of the selection of starters, mains and puddings. The service, atmosphere and food was first class. It’s a shame we don’t live closer as we’d be using it all the time. We will be back in the future.
I came here for my 40th Birthday with mum and sister. It was absolutely lovely. The staff were accommodating and friendly. The menu was great, as was the food. They cater very well for allergies and intolerances. My mum said the fish pie was the best she ever had! We live in Bristol but would make the journey to come again.
My first visit. Really high standard, would definitely recommend and return again
I’ve eaten at Andersen’s many times, and this is the first time I’ve done so as part of a larger group. The food, service and atmosphere are simply excellent. The food is well presented and of high quality (and it’s always nice when your fillet steak is cooked as requested). I can’t recommend them highly enough. I brought some friends who were visiting me from the USA, and they had a wonderful time. A great venue for both couples and larger groups.
Outstanding food, the best meal out we have had in ages!
Very friendly atmosphere, Excellent food, great service, reasonable priced. We will definitely be going back. Thank you.
Had a great evening on their Burns Night supper. Friendly staff, good haggis and good value for the set meal. He norml menu tempted us as well. Recommended.
Food and service as good as ever, it was just a bit noisy. No problem with people having a great party, whether it's Christmas or other, but the layout here probably isn't best suited to accommodate revellers and quiet diners at the same time.
Friendly staff and lovely ambience! The food was delicious and priced well.
Very special family night, excellent varied menu, wonderfully prepared, full of flavor and great value. Even the Americans in our party voted the brownie the best they had ever had!
