A bit disappointing. Good food - but not great. Sediment in my husband's wine glass, no apology or attempt to sort it out. A bit of a flat evening in terms of ambience and service.
My wife and I booked this quiet but very pleasant restaurant for Saturday night dinner. On a cold night it was conveniently close to our hotel. We were not disappointed. The service was friendly and efficient. The food we ordered from a reassuringly small menu was excellent. The wine list was extensive with enough choice to suit most budgets. Certainly worth a visit for those looking for good French bistro style cuisine When in the area again we will certainly go back.
There was a piece of plastic in a crab starter. The lamb shank main was cold in the middle. No real attempt was made to address he issue in the bill. Will not return.
The food was bland, unimaginative and very over-priced. The staff were arrogant and condescending. The venue was old and tired.
We have eaten at Angelus often. We will not again. The manager was brusque and rude to us and to the servers. The food was mediocre. Angelus has changed for the worse. Unfortunate. We dined on the evening of March 8
Was absolutelly amazing
love it very much
We really had a great time
Quality restaurant with pleasant staff. Not crowded, but still with it’s charm.
First time visit and enjoyed it very much. Our party increased from 3 to 6 at short notice but was accommodated with a smile and no problem. The food was very very nice and the staff friendly and efficient. I can wholeheartedly recommend.
Had my favourite corner table. Food and and service was exceptional. Wine list has just changed with some exciting new changes.
Had a salad and steak. Steak perfectly cooked.
In truth around Paddington there is little to compare to Angelus.
Really lovely and authentic French dinner in a stylish restaurant with warm and efficient service.
Angelus has great food and a lovely atmosphere. I would highly recommend for a casual meal or a special occasion.
A lovely evening spent celebrating my partner's birthday at Angelus. The food was absolutely exquisite and the service very friendly and attentive- we'll be back!
Good wine selection, quality food, friendly service.
Fabulous dining room with phenomenal cooking and service. Priced accordingly but well worth it
Staff could not do enough for you, good recommendations for wine
Very nice french restaurants. Good food and nice, professional, service minded people in charge. Very convinient placed in quiet area, short walk from the more noisy and tacky parts of Paddington.
Friendly and tasty, good wine options in all categories. On parle français
Excellent food, creative dishes, very good and friendly service. Beautiful room.
Nice restaurant in a lovely area excellent food and happy friendly service. Will go back
We had a great dinner at Angelus two years ago and decided to meet good friends there on our recent trip to London. All four of us ordered the tasting menu which was very good with nice and fairly priced wine pairings. This is a wonderfully authentic French bistro.
Excellent lunch choice. Looked around Paddington area, chose here - glad we did. Nice dining room, and very good menu/quality ingredients. Service was efficient and friendly. We would return
Booked for Friday night and found we were the only two in the Restaraunt Two more people came in late on so no ambience at all. The waiter told us that the closure of the Lancaster hotel and the tube station had badly affected their business.
The food was way below the standard we expected and I will not be going back.
I had visited the Restaraunt before and had a very good experience so was disappointed this time.
Excellent food and delightful service. The experience was perfect.
Most of the wine was very very expensive. Two of us left our cauliflower soup as it was salty. Because of the cost, we all chose from the set menu at £41. My American friend ordered a sour martini but that is not what she got. We heard from neighbours that they have recently changed hands. As we didn't sample food not on the set menu, we cannot know how good the rest of the repertoire might have been but we were unimpressed with what we ate.
Beautiful setting with a good menu. But the wine list is ridiculously expensive with ALL the entry level wines unavailable.
A quiet, mid-week evening menu but the restaurant felt like it had just changed hands or was about to close down.
Food was amazing - especially the octopus salad (grilled to.perfection) and the souffle - it was so fluffy and matches sooo well with the pistachio ice cream and the passionfruit ice cream. Managers of the resturant as well as the sommelier were so accomodating and friendly - made you feel right at home.
We had been before for lunch and, on a sunny day, chose to eat outside. The road has been closed off, so it is relatively peaceful. On Thursday it was very quiet and we were the only diners outside. I had the table d'hote with rather nice cauliflower soup, followed bty a tasty aubergine main course. Wines here are very expensive. Service was ultra attentive
Excellent little secret, authentic old fashioned Bistro great food, nice service, good allrounder.
The food and service are very good but it is a slightly overpriced.
As ever a fabulous meal at Angelus. I had the summer pistou to start and my partner had the traditional scallops - fabulous as ever. We both had the fish for main - tuna was rare - just perfect and nicely seared on the outside and I had the monkfish very nice. Dessert was fabulous - I had the honey and rosemary souffle with ice cream - very naughty, but did not disappoint. I've been going to Angelus for 8 years and it's always very very special
An excellent restaurant which I have visited several times. Intelligent service.
A great find for a relaxed and casual business lunch, lovely food, attentive service, and a genuine, authentic French atmosphere.
Always a real pleasure but the set menu is slightly 'ordinary', especially with one option not being available
Not cheap but well worth it for a special occasion. The ambience is wonderful, especially if you like Arte Nouveau. Food typically French - very good and sensibly-sized potions but which wouldn't suit gluttons. We had a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
We visit regularly and its always a good experience with great food and wines.
fifth visit excellent food and service as per usual
This is a comfortable cozy French restaurant with interesting menus both a la crate and set price. I just wish they had a more affordable wine list but for oenophiles this will be a real find. Try the snails which are not the usual garlicky in their shells or the duck liver parfait which is wonderful and airy.
Classic yet creative bistro food in a quiet spot: it's a mystery to me when I can always get a table here - the place should be rammed.
Lovely local French restaurant with charming service and nice ambiance.
Now a regular user at Angelus and it never fails. Lovely attitude by staff and management, and excellent food. Personally I think the A La Carte is far superior to the Table d'Hote (which is still good) and having a smaller appetite nowadays, two course AlC v 3 course Td'H is no contest. good heavily French wine list, with some impressive trophy wines but a good selection of mid range/affordables too.
