Excellent food and service
A real find for those who enjoy fine French cuisine
If the lamb cutlets had been as rare as the scallops, lunch would have been more as I had anticipated. And the mashed potatoes were watery...
The menu always offers an interesting selection combining very good quality produce with great flavours, together with a well chosen wine list. The service is of a very high quality and conveys a strong personal touch.
Handy perennial for Paddington Station. Not the popular scene it once was but still very pleasant.
Quality classic French dining in elegant Art-Nouveau surroundings with excellent service. A quiet and stylish spot that was perfect for our date night!
Great wine list reflected by full range of food choices
Great food service, tasty steak with good ambiance settings. The table booking arrangement is well timely.
A great experience of dining in London.
Amazing place to eat in London. It is a peaceful oasis in the noise and bustle of London. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. If you are looking for a lovely place to relax and have an amazing dining experience, this is the place !
This is the third exceptional meal I have had at Angelus. You can’t fault the cooking.
There are two reasons that I might not return, despite its fabulous cuisine. Firstly, the maximum number of other guests at any one of my three visits were two other tables.
Secondly, almost all the less expensive wines on the list have been withdrawn. I found something just about half decent from the new world for £42 but that was a struggle. This is not the restaurant I am going to be spending £200 - £300, or more, on a bottle. It’s just not that kind of place.
It’s a shame but it feels like the end is inevitable.
We had a lovely meal. All hot and fresh. There were 4 of us. I thought the wine was expensive. There were not many under 50 pounds. However I asked the waiter which was the best red under 50. He recommended one of the cheaper ones at 35 pounds. It was exceptional and well worth the money.
Great restaurant in a neighbourhood tucked away but near Paddington Station. Old World French atmosphere with waiters in proper garb. Menu provides a reasonable amount of options that are all good. Wine list mostly French, but other types as well. Desserts are homemade. Great place for a meeting or night out.
This is a gem of a restaurant set just off Lancaster Gate in a quiet street. Delicious food and attentive service makes it very special. We wanted a late lunch and assumed as the restaurant is open all day and our booking for 1445 was accepted that this was not a problem but it was clear by the lack of other diners that we were outside the normal service times. So there was a lack of ambiance for what was otherwise a lovely meal.
Lovely, romantic restaurant. Classic French cuisine cooked exquisitely. It was quiet on the night we went and perhaps some background music would have helped.
Had a late Saturday reservation--was fairly quiet within. First came here several years ago--was more happening then. The mussels in the Pan Fried Seabass were OK, but did not quite feel part of the meal to me. Solid service.
Strange one to review really - the food was good to very good, the service was perfect, the interior nice. But it gets 2/5 stars from me purely because at these prices, everything has to be exceptional to warrant charging that much, not very good. Unfortunately I didn't feel there was anything exceptional here, including the wine. Very good, but not quite good enough
We enjoyed the refined dinning experience . The service was very diligent and the food was truly outstanding . No one els was dinning so the ambiance was quiet as we were the only customers . I would recommend again although the prices are far from moderate . In fact for lunch it was very expensive .
The service and food were outstanding, highly recommend this restaurant!
i VISIT LONDON FREQUENTLY AND ALWAYS STOP BY ANGELUS WHEN I DO. EXCELLENT SERVICE, CONSISTENTLY DELICIOUS FOOD, QUIET ATMOSPHERE, LOVELY DECOR AND A SOLID WINE MENU PUT ANGELUS ON MY TOP CHOICE LIST.
Found this restaurant through a Google search. Needed somewhere where my boss and a client could eat and discuss business. Boss was suitably impressed with the menu and we will book again without any shadow of a doubt.
General a mediocre experience. The duck was over cooked and the snails rubbery. My compnaion’s meal was equally meh.
Great service. One of the best French restaurants in London
The food ( duck and lamb) were tastefully presented and served perfectly. The wine list is extensive. The elegant decor would be best appreciated with more daylight at lunchtime. Highly recommended.
This was SPECIAL, with friends friends and they are not foodies it all of LOVED LOVED IT
I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and creativity in their interpretation of French cuisine.
I am not going to say much more than give it a try and you won't be disappointed.
Pretentious. We got the impression they think they are something they’re not. They had run out of the wine i like and our lamb shanks with mash were served barely warm so we had to send it back. No veg with the meal which my friend recalls was included with the meal. Nice decor, but they need to at least cook things fresh instead of heating up. I expected better, it was disappointing.
Great food, great service, what can I say!! I would eat here again!!
I loved this place. Beautifully cooked and presented food - delicious sorbets made from real fruit!
It was very quiet as it was a Monday lunchtime so I hope it gets busier in the evenings as it is a Paddington gem!
We celebrated by wife’s birthday in London and had been to Angelus a few years ago and really enjoyed it, the return visit didn’t disappoint. Our group ordered several dishes and everyone said it was outstanding. I had the lamb which fell off the bone. It will continue to be our special occasion restaurant in London.
Excellent fish courses esp dover sole, wine list a little overpriced given the food prices and location.
Amazing dining experience! The service was second to none and the food was some of the best we've eaten. Perfect spot for a romantic dinner or special occasion and definitely a place I would take my dear friends. I highly recommend and will definitely visit again next time I am in the UK
Beautiful food, beautifully prepared. Everyone enjoyed their choices including a 10 year old who devoured the roast duck. Chef prepared a birthday cake which was a sensation. Perhaps because if the quality rather pricey Quite intimate and not at all noisy. Beautiful Art Deco surroundings
Angelus provides an exquisite dining experience in a comfortable setting. A touch pricey, but I have always found it well worth the price.
Excellent food as usual ! Quality products ! Very good service from the staff ! A very pleasant evening ! A must go restaurant !
Very nice classic french food, each dish well executed. Wine card is great. Service was excellent too. Highly recommend this restaurant
Up market, authentically French. A delight for a quiet and convivial lunch. Attentive and knowledgeable staff. Delicious and beautifully presented food (we ate fish). Gorgeous champagne: a real treat for a long lunch. Expensive, but not excessively so, and well worth it. Definitely a place to revisit - next time will be for red meat and red wine!
Very disappointing. Main courses arrived within 2 minutes of being ordered and were clearly pre-prepared and reheated, although they were not hot. Portion sizes were having a laugh. One of us had to order a starter after completing the main course. The tarte tatin dessert was a travesty and was left uneaten (just gunge no coked apple slices on top, soggy pastry beneath. The head waiter agreed and did not charge for it. Overall, one of the worst meals out the two of us have had for 30 years costing almost £100 including one small glass of wine each.
Nice food, no atmosphere at all in the restaurant. The service is so so but definitely it isn't 1 star Michelin service.
honestly nothing special
Great food and an attractive space but restaurant was almost empty. It was a hot Friday evening and I expect this venue is far busier during the week.
Will give it another try on a week night.
Authentic French food and wine with a well-priced fixed menu if that choice happens to suit
A bit disappointing. Good food - but not great. Sediment in my husband's wine glass, no apology or attempt to sort it out. A bit of a flat evening in terms of ambience and service.
