Dishes at Aquavit London honour fresh, seasonal ingredients and deliver a contemporary take on authentic Nordic cuisine, with menus developed by Henrik Ritzén, Executive Chef of Aquavit London, and Emma Bengtsson, Executive Chef of Aquavit New York.
Overseen by the design studio of Swedish-born Martin Brudnizki (The Ivy, Scott’s and Sexy Fish), Aquavit London has been inspired by Gunnar Asplund’s design of Gothenburg City Hall in Sweden, and the restaurant showcases celebrated Nordic designers in a laid-back yet sophisticated environment.

Delicious food in a beautiful restaurant. Service was mostly good, but room for improvement. Had to flag someone down to order, for drinks and for the bill. Petit fours were delivered after we got up from the table.
We had 5 people serve our table; our actual waiter was not very attentive.
Overall we had a lovely experience and the birthday treat at the end was a nice surprise.
Great burgers (although probably not what this place wants to be known for). Light and spacious dining room with very high ceilings. Waiting staff very friendly and helpful. Puddings to die for.
Fabulous food and cocktails, helpful waiters. Expensive.
Everything was delicious from the bread to the meatballs to the amazing berry crumble with ‘cinnamon bun ice cream’. A creative and beautifully executed take on Swedish cuisine that doesn’t lose the essence of the natural ingredients and authentic flavours of Sweden. I reccomend the meatballs, whole trout and duck very much! The mazarin tart and mentioned crumble are also delicious desserts.
Wonderful as always!
There was a good selection of dishes on the pre theatre menu, and the food was lovely (maybe a slight over-reliance on lingonberries!). The wine selections were delicious, and the service was also delightful, with a lovely gesture of ice cream and piped chocolate as a birthday treat! I would definitely return here to try the other items on the smorgasbord.
Superb afternoon tea here. Delightful setting, beautiful food. Wonderful atmosphere and lighting, looking forward to going back.
The service was just poor. People seemed nice but no one came to take our order. They would leave the menu after we asked for one, but they won’t come around to check if we are ready to order. This was the same for the starter, main and desset! We had to call someone each time to order something. Even after we ordered, the service and the food came too slow, we had to ask several times if our order were in the system. We end up waiting for almost 2 hours for our 2 main dishes to arrive! The ambience were great but I think they should train the staff more to look after the customers. As it was a business dinner for us my clients were not happy and I was embarrassed.
Welcoming, friendly and efficient service. The food was delicious and just the right size - I had the brunch menu. I like the decor a lot of the room and the Scandinavian style in general.
The experience was fine, but not great. The service was good, the atmosphere was good, and the smorgasbord was very good, and the dessert was nice. Unfortunately the mains were both slightly overcooked, and for £35 this isn't really good enough
Amazingly high quality food. Will recommend.
Staffs were charming and knew how to treat customers in every aspect.
In terms of food, the cooking skill and plating reach a certain standard, but I found some repetition in a starter and a main dish, same sauce and same ingredients were using. Customers will be happier when they have a new dish which gives a new dimension previously unmet.
By the way, I'm giving four stars, because staffs and atmosphere were so nice and the shortcoming was understandable when I recall how much I paid.
Aquavit London is very cost effective. This is almost blessing especially in London, where you hardly expect higher value in moderate expense.
A fabulous lunch with gorgeous food and lovely staff in a beautiful location. What more can you wish for!
The meatballs were delicious, service was great, even the bread was superb!
Aboslutely brilliant concept, finally proper nordic aquavits and aquavit drinks in London. Great wines and food, warmely recommended!
Our first visit to what looks a very expensive restaurant. Gold coloured and light wood panelling in an airy room. Thankfully there was a reasonably priced pre-theatre menu. We shared the liver pate, blood pudding and herring - all were excellent. Mains were Swedish Meatballs and Kroppkakor - a filled potato dumpling - again both were very enjoyable. The wine list includes some frighteningly priced options - but we had a fairly priced Argentinian Malbec. Service was both efficient and friendly. Overall we were impressed and will be back.
Excellent martinis. Excellent ambience with enough noise to feel part of something but quiet enough to have a conversation. Modern and open and light.
Superb smorgesbord . Another time I may just have more of these delicious starters.
Main course was OK ( lam ) if a bit pricy. My friend liked her meat balls.
Service was attentive but not over attentive and very friendly.
Loved it really and will go back.
Sincerely was expecting little bit more of this place.... food was great, I can’t say the same thing about service.. they should work little more on it...
We loved our mixed brunch selection but best was the Aquavit trolley. We have a new favourite drink!
Excellent meal - will definitely return to try their brunch menu.
Best Scandinavian food had outside of Nothern Europe. Clever menu with options to share and try different things, great drinks pairing suggestions. Beautiful interior and laid back atmosphere. One of my favourite restaurants in London.
Such an energising meal and crowd - thank you!
Amazing food, lovely staff, fantastic place. Thank you for giving us a special and memorable meal.
Beautiful room and charming staff. Great atmosphere and superb food. The schnapps trolley is worth a visit!
Had a lovely anniversary dinner at Acquavit; the ambience is superb and the staff were great. The only things I would flag are that there was fish in unexpectedly places (the spread for the bread and some of the vegetable sides) which was not explained even though I had identified as vegetarian; we were sat next to an external door that doesn't close completely so had a chilly breeze; and the music kept louder through the evening until even to speak to the staff required talking louder then really necessary on a dinner night out. We were baffled by that - it is clearly a place for talking in company, a task made increasingly difficult by the ascending music! Very happy we had the chance to go though, it's a beautiful restaurant in a beautiful part of town and the rugs on the wall are glorious.
Second visit after a first underwhelming experience and it was better. Service was very good and food was good. The lunch set menu is good but not outstanding. Decor is nice and convenient location.
Delicious and different food, made a change to the usual menu options
Nice welcome, great cocktails, superb menu & wine list, magnificent food and wonderful service at table (although we did have to carry our own half finished cocktails & water from the bar to the table but maybe I am being "picky" here). I have found a new favourite restaurant in London.
The food was excellent. The interior classy with nice lightning.
The Staf vas very nice and atendent.
I’m a bit confused about the choise of music. It disn’t really fit in with the atmosphere in the restaurant.
Over all a very positive and nice experiance.
Unfortunately Aquavit London will not be getting its two Michelin stars as its counterpart in New York.. the flavours were strange, the dishes were not very presentable, and the only plus was the stylish decor of the bar. My friend and I were disappointed and we won’t be coming back.
Having experienced the NYC Aquavit prix fixe with pairings, which was exceptional, I was intrigued to find that London had a lower-key Aquavit. Well, it hit on all cylinders like NYC. Delicious food. Great service. Deep yet reasonably priced wine list. So glad we got to enjoy such a wonderful restaurant. I'd recommend it for any occasion, as it is both casual yet elegant. Fantastic!
Love this place - one of my favourite restaurants in london. great food in stunning surrounds.
Had breakfast at 8am on a Monday morning, very quiet and nice place. T
Delicious Nordic food in an airy mid century dining room. Cocktails are very good and use unusual Nordic ingredients like ligonberries and sea buckthorn. Highly recommend the tartare and the Arctic bird’s nest dessert!
A lovely meal in one of my favourite London restaurants!
We booked Aquavit for my husband’s birthday dinner after reading some promising reviews. Unfortunately, I have to say that the experience wasn’t a pleasant one as the service was very poor.
We ordered cocktails and food soon after we arrived at the restaurant and the starters came relatively quickly (and were delicious). After that the empty plates just sat on our table for half an hour with staff just walking past. We asked for bread numerous times and only received it after 40 minutes (it should have arrived with the starters). We had a show booked for an hour and a half after we arrived to the restaurant and despite alerting our waitress multiple times that we were in a hurry, we never received our main course as it took more than an hour for it to be prepared and we had to leave (the restaurant wasn’t full!). Also, we had to almost beg to get the bill (asked for it 4 times). All in all it was a disappointing experience, especially as it was meant to be a special dinner.
Amazing place, gave 4 star only because both times we had to wait a while for the bill- they were obviously prioritising new orders. Other than that, excellent place!
The Arctic nest dessert was one of the best we’ve ever had. Entrees and sides were delicious as well.
I have now been here 5 or 6 times and have loved it every time. Outstanding food, great ambience, nice service.
Food was OK but that's the very minimum expected of a one-starred establishment. I have to say most other one-starred restaurants in London are better than Aquavit, including the other one-starred Scandinavian restaurant just off Portland Square. The restaurant also employed a questionable marketing tactic - I booked a pre-theatre offer through Opentable which is valid for the timeslot I chose (18:30). I arrived at 18:30 and the waitress came over with the menus 10 minutes later. When I questioned the waitress about the pre-theatre menu offer I booked for, she gave the reason that the menu was only available up until 18:30. Well, if you cannot honour what you offered on Opentable when your customer arrived at the stated timeslot, you shouldn't have marketed that on Opentable. Unlikely to come back again.
