Dishes at Aquavit London honour fresh, seasonal ingredients and deliver a contemporary take on authentic Nordic cuisine, with menus developed by Henrik Ritzén, Executive Chef of Aquavit London, and Emma Bengtsson, Executive Chef of Aquavit New York.
Overseen by the design studio of Swedish-born Martin Brudnizki (The Ivy, Scott’s and Sexy Fish), Aquavit London has been inspired by Gunnar Asplund’s design of Gothenburg City Hall in Sweden, and the restaurant showcases celebrated Nordic designers in a laid-back yet sophisticated environment.

Scandi treats that make you very full and satisfied. If you want an amazing dessert, you need to try out the Bird's Nest. It is beautiful and quite filling, so feel free to share it with someone. Meatballs is always a classic, however I quite like the kroppkakor and usually go for that option. This time I went for meatballs, and they were not disappointing!
Lovely location, pleasant and helpful staff, delicious food and lovely ambiance makes Aquavit a lovely place to visit.
Food and service were both outstanding! Highly recommend!
Interesting food, very tasty, excellent friendly service including the sommelier recommendation, good seating and surprisingly good value. Not just a trendy dining experience, a proper restaurant. I will go again.
Great. Thoroughly recommend. Food is exceptional. Interior design is beautiful.
Visited here pre- theatre and had a delicious meal. Particularly good if you like fish- maybe not so great for vegetarians. My trout dish was beautifully prepared and so tasty. Lovely choice of smorgasbord starters too. Efficient and very friendly service.
Marvelous meal and extraordinary service for less money than expected even though it was still above the avarage for food in London. Nevertheless, service and food were worth every single Penny. I gave an extra tip on top of the usual service fee which is included in the check by default.
Loved the smorgasbord, mains were also very good. Food paired well with what was an extremely hot day in London! Would recommend highly and for Michelin star very reasonable.
We went with a friend pre theatre. It was a lovely meal. We could eat from both the pre theatre menu and also the main menu.
Service good, but slightly overly attentive we felt, but that was probably that we were there a bit early and so there were relatively lots of staff to customers.
Great location - nice and spacious interior. Very attentive service - drinks/ food arrived without nay real delays.
Very tasty dishes - nicely presented. The well stocked Aquavit trolley nearly derailed the evening for us but fortunately common sense prevailed.
Reassuringly expensive (!) which turns this place into a special occasion venue as oppposed to being a regular haunt.
Delicious food. Fun for sharing. Lots of light. Great for lunch. Good for business meals. Quite pricey.
We went for a family dinner. Lovely and spacious interior design. Service was on point and friendly. Food was super delicious:
Pickles and herring selection, must have
Celariac and beetroot salad, super tasty
Smoked eel, wow
Gravlax and oysters, classic but even they were top notch
We had turbot and monkfish, both were cooked perfectly and juicy, their light sauces matched perfectly.
Panna cotta was ok but its icecream was again a wow:)
A general comment from our table was that almost all the sauces were slightly on the sweeter side.
The only negative comment would be the hit or miss music, where, as a table we though, the music should be softer but sometimes you would hear dance tunes all of a sudden. A classic london restaurant scene music choice. But obviously, it wasnt loud and didnt ruin the evening.
Overall, we had a highly enjoyable evening and would recommend it! Will definitely visit again.
2nd time here and full deserving of 5 stars in every category. Beef Rydberg as superb as the first time, and the herring-3-ways (I forget the Swedish name) is piquant and mouthwatering. Tried the meatballs for the first time and they were beautifully spiced. On the pre-theatre menu you actually get 2 small starters as your first dish; the black pudding one was outstanding. Too full for dessert. Some brilliant wines on the list (and second-mortgage department for anyone in that category - one was £2,500!) - not much for under £50 per bottle though. But hard to resent this given the food, ambience and service. Many repeat visits to come I hope.
The service has deteriorated at this restaurant over the past 6-12 months. Nice waiters but not attentive how they used to be and not fitting for the type of restaurant it is. The food is amazing though and the decor is beautiful.
Food portion was good for the pre theatre menu and really made our evening special!
Food is also very delicious and we fine dine all the time.. so have high expectations.
As always the meal and service was excellent. Our party resolved to repeat the experience again.
This restaurant seems to get better with every visit, one of my favourites. Food tastes are really interesting and we tried some very delicious desserts
I cannot speak highly enough about Aquavit. The atmosphere is lovely - and could serve either as a first date or impress a client locale. While the Scandinavian decor sucks you in, the real win is the incredible execution of an original menu. The trout is possibly the best thing I’ve eaten in London, with about four different flavours gently competing with each other. Even the bread and butter brought exclamations from my friends, who’d not been before. There’s no doubt, the food is the star here, incredible flavours, good service, full of light. Go, you won’t regret it.
Have visited here a number of times and it’s a great find ! Good food and lovely scandi mule cocktail !
My first impression wasn't excellent as a vegetarian, I get the impression that these restaurants treat us as a second thought. I made the booking stating I was vegetarian as the menu does not tell you what is suitable to eat. Then I wanted to double check I could eat, so I emailed their inquiries a few days before. No reply. I then emailed their reservations, no reply. You can't call the restaurant and speak to a human as it is an automated line. This infuriated me because someone must be cheecking emails! I took a chance and went.
The veggie starter options were only from smorgasbord so I ended up eating grated beetroot and grated carrot. Nice, but seriously not even remotely exciting or inventive! One veggie main which was on offer was fine but would not rush back to eat it. The birds nest dessert is clearly there for aesthetic and not for eating. Its not easy to eat and there is LOTs of berry sorbet in the bottom which overwhelmed everything on the plate.
The place has a nice vibe and is relaxed, I enjoyed that. But I would never go back as it was all very meh and I think they only take people who eat meat seriously. They should think to themselves, would I be happy with a starter of grated carrot and beetroot for a very special occasion meal? Probably not, but they must assume everyone is there to eat meat or fish.
I went here on a Saturday evening. I know Scandinavian food quite well and the food here was okay but nothing special. The service was poor and inattentive. The aquavit was served warm from a trolley, certainly not chilled.
The interior was nice and the mood was cool and calm, but the food was disappointing.
I've no idea what the Michelin star is for.
Returned to Aquavit for our anniversary, every second was just perfect! Cocktails and live music outside in the sunshine and a wonderful long easy flavoursome lunch inside with a great DJ and great staff. The lunch menu with the wine offer was exceptional value for high end dining too. Thank you Aquavit!
This was my 3rd time visiting, and was quite surprised that some of the items on the menu were not available. Not quite what I'd expect from a Michelin-starred restaurant.
Great room, love the high ceiling. A quiet environment for a breakfast meeting, sunbathed, with large windows. The food was good, nothing too fatty or over done.
Delicious and great atmosphere. The service was excellent and food top quality. Will definitely go again.
Delicious food, we really enjoyed ourselves. Booked for a meal with my aunt's family who were visiting and for my husband's birthday. Everyone couldn't stop praising the food. Also great atmosphere.
We had a business lunch here and the service and food were both very good. My party had the smoked salmon salad and I had the Swedish meatballs and both food and service were very good, tasteful and fresh. I would recommend it.
It’s always a pleasant experience experience dining at Aquavit. Although I have to say the food is not consistent. It’s always very good but depending on the night you get a different finish of the dishes
A pared back beautiful restaurant with a glamorous bar. The service was exemplary and the food exactly what you would expect from a Swedish restaurant - excellent, fresh ingredients, dynamic tastes. And Aquavit. Lots of Aquavit! And yet it's so clean you are left with no hangover. I'm coming back and next time I'm bringing my dog. Dog friendly! My kind of place.
Superb environment to chat. The menu is great but pricey for what you get and they cremate bacon in the true Scandinavian style!
Relaxed atmosphere, food very fresh and well presented. Good selection of wines, helpful and enthusiastic staff
Great for a business lunch, as the menu is reasonable considering the quality. Superb food and also great to be able to eat outside
Like the matter of fact approach with the food, almost fuss free but clearly with a lot of dedication in the getting the dishes in perfection without the 'bling-ness'. Perfect place for the stealth wealth, nothing to bling about, the perfect and understated culinary experience. The venue interior is luxuriously detailed and designed, very sharp and intended in purpose without much ambiguity and hesitation in functionality. A very confident set up and clear sense of purpose and and this experience is carried out throughout our dinning course. Attentive table service again without the pom or fussiness. Top marks!
Delicious and fresh food using unusual ingredients. Very good value as an after (or before) theatre menu. Service was very friendly but it took quite a bit of time to get our order taken for both drinks and food (and as we were eating after theatre we were all very hungry!) but once the order was taken the food arrived very quickly and was very good! well worth a visit
Very poor service. When we asked our server what kind of fish was in a particular dish he said "it's a typical fish from the ocean." Seriously?
We were only in London for the night, as our flight back to NYC was cancelled. We arrived at our nearby hotel about two hours prior to close, and made reservations online en route to the hotel. We sat down a little over an hour prior to close, and there was maybe one other table the server was attending to. He was very slow. For example, it took him over 15 minutes to bring us a glass of wine.
There was almost nobody in the restaurant. He seemed more focused on closing down than serving us. I can normally understand that; however, we made reservations for a time that the restaurant made available. It wasn't like we walked in unannounced 10 minutes prior to close. For a $200 meal, I expect more.
The entrees were ok - not bad, but not great. The appetizers, however, were very good. The cocktails were also very good.
Overall, this was a low-value dining experience.
We had brunch at AquaVit and were very impressed by the brunch set menu. All of the dishes were wonderfully flavoursome, the service was excellent, and the setting was very good for conversation even though there was a DJ playing ambient background music.
Everything was perfect, from the moment we walked in with our small dog, to the deserts. Nothing was difficult for the staff, the food was of the finest quality and an extensive wine list for all budgets and tastes.
A memorable meal, and thanks to the Aquavit staff.
An excellent restaurant, one of our favourites! They have got it right! From the selection of bread to the quality of well prepared food. We have always enjoyed our meals at this top class restaurant
The food is realy nice. If you want to try the Scandinavian food, this is the place to visit.
One Swedish couple.
Excellent food with very good value for money The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing
