Outstanding food and great service. Good wine list. Good ambiance
The food is amazing - if you're in to the Scandinavian cuisine - the staff is cheerful, the interiour of the restaurant very Scandi chic. But my booking experience was horrendous. I booked for Saturday, got a confirmation for Sunday. Went back on line to amend - it came back as Sunday again. I rang and the man on the line assured me we were welcome on Saturday. When we arrived - on Saturday - there was no reservation in my name. But they did have me down for Sunday! Luckily there was a table available and we had a nice evening. The next day I get an e-mail from Open Table telling me I should honour my reservations and they were sorry I had made a no-show for my reservation on Sunday. I did get an apology afterwards, when I explained the whole situation, but it added a lot of stress to an otherwise lovely evening.
Absolutely incredible. Dined here several times and gets better each time! Worth the journey to London
On the expensive side, but I definitively recommend the Aquavit London!!
the ambience is superb, the décor really great although not as one would expect in a Scandinavian restaurant, but the food was simply magnificent and the service very attentive, a lovely waitress looked after us, sorry i don't remember her name! I will definitely be back.
Just love this restaurant, the venue and food are excellent and the staff are friendly. The only reason a star was knocked off, was because it was very busy with very few waiting staff. The lady looking after us explained that several staff had called in sick, which happens. If I could've knocked off 1/2 a star instead, I would've.
Food was very good. Service was a bit slow at the end of the evening. Overall recommend
My parents said it was the best meal they have ever had!!!!
Decent venue, very nice food, but very slow and inattentive service unfortunately - a shame otherwise would have been a lovely lunch in very light and airy surroundings
I LOVE this place! Second time there, and I'm sure I'll keep coming whenever I go to London. Last time was lunch, now we had the afternoon tea. Everything was fresh, well prepared and delicious. I can't even pretend to remember the scandi names of all the dishes, but there were open sandwiches with hering, salmon and shrimp, and Scandinavian cakes. Great marzipan tea (my fave) and rhubarb & vanilla tea (hubby's tea) The restaurant itself is beautiful and the dishes are so pretty!
The service was great, we had a lovely waitress who took care of us very well.
By the end we were so full we could barely walk.
Can't recommend this gem enough.
Great food, great service, lovely location and interior. Would definitely go again.
A beautiful restaurant with a bit odd menu , although I´m swedish. Everything is well cooked, however there was no potato served with the monkfish and I was recommended to have cabbage to go with it. The music was too loud and noisy for my taste.
We came in for a quick dinner before our theatre night. The hosts welcomed us with a great smile and in a warm manner.
The menu presents the food in a creative and mysterious way, but everything was well explained by our waiter, who had a good knowledge of the food and the ingredients.
I decided to go for the a la carte menu and my friend for the pre-theatre menu.
When our food came, we were very impressed by the plating, which made the food even more delicate, adding to the wonderful taste experience. Our only regret was that we ran out of time and had to abandon the idea of a fine desert.
I would definitely recommend this place for a lovely date or a special evening.
We will for sure be back very soon.
Wonderful and unusual food and combination of flavours. Set menu amazing value .
Great service for our post-theatre dinner. The restaurant was quiet then - arrived at 10.30pm on a Wednesday night but very relaxed, welcoming and friendly atmosphere. They wrote happy birthday and had candle on my husband's dessert no prompting. Lovely. Even at midnight they did not rush us to finish up.
It was a treat .
Will be back.
This was the biggest disappointment of our entire vacation. We planned to have a big dinner with wonderful wines and food. Instead we got the worst, inattentive service imaginable. From not being able to remember that we ordered champagne before demanding our order to having to ask multiple people for anything we needed, we felt wholly ignored (and we weren’t the only tables desperately trying to get service). The food was good but overall, making this reservation is my largest regret of my vacation. We had many other dinners, Michelin and not, for a quarter of what we spent here that blew this experience out of the water.
Caught up with some dear friends and had a great evening
Service etc very good, but why no vegetarian dish on the set lunch menu.
We chose Aquavit for a get together with a friend visiting London and food was delicious, waitress was quirky and attentive and toilets were also very clean and stylish. We thoroughly enjoyed our food for me especially warm chocolate cake with licorice ice cream was a stand out. I only wish it was more affordable to be able to visit it more often.
great food, great restaurant. Shame that the waiter let the restaurant down this evening. Will go back though as the food is great
Very very slow service...
Great Scandi spot for lunch or dinner - lunch £20 for two courses!
it was our second time here and we thought it better than the first.
It is a very relaxed environment which does not feel very "Michelin" or "expensive fine dining". Normally when I celebrate something I prefer the most formal environments, but this time we had no much choice as we needed a place that would accommodate our 2yo young daughter, so we give this place a shot.
The service: I was not impressed, the waiter was rushing us all the time, I was feeling constantly pressured to finish my food. He actually removed my plate before I finished my bread and I found that terrible. Definitely not good enough for an award winning restaurant. That rush faded away later on the meal, but I don't know if the reason for that was that the restaurant thankfully got busier or if he just wanted us to get the mains and get over with.
The food: Excellent food, I had the Crab on Rye Brioche as starter, it was divine. For mains we went for Beef Rydberg and the Duck Breast with liquorice and carrots. For dessert, my wife picked the warm chocolate cake that was delicious and I chose the Arctic Bird's Nest, which actually gave a whole dimension to the meal for its creativity and deliciousness.
Overall I would recommend this restaurant if you want to have a award winner meal beautifully cooked. But don't expect a Michelin fine dining service experience, you will not get it here. On the other hand, sometimes we just need something more informal either because you have kids or just because you want a more relaxed environment with friends. In those cases, this is definitely a recommended place to go.
Great Scandinavian food; we had a smorgasbord of liver pate, gravadlax, crab, smoked eel and herring accompanied by delicious bread. It was all beautifully presented and very fresh and tasty especially the dill dressing! We also enjoyed a great bottle of Muscadet, coffee and friendly professional service all for about £100. Would certainly recommend if this is your type of food or you fancy trying it!!
Great service and food was delicious.
Excellent, the best Swedish Meatball's in London. Would also strongly recommend the Shrimp Skagen!
Had a pre theatre meal with husband and daughter - went a la carte rather than the pre theatre menu ( which looked very good value)
Service and welcome was great from a young and vibrant team -when the manager heard we were going to the theatre the orders came promptly and care taken that we could enjoy the experience and get to the theatre in good time
Food was delicious. Not cheap but location is prime central London, first class service and great food
We've visited this establishment at least a handful of times; for lunch, dinner, as well as private parties upstairs. Normally, the food is great, the service attentive and the ambience good for catching up. This time, the food was cold (my shrimp Skagen bread was impossible to cut and not very nicely plated, my partner's beef Rydberg was cold and tough to eat and the service was shocking - we got ignored at least twice. Not what you want when you bring friends to a new experience.
Great food (the meat balls are my favourite), beautiful room, and good service. Nice Georg Jensen cutlery!
The waitress was attentive throughout most of the meal, she disappeared after handing us desert menus. The food was good and her recommendations were spot on. The Swedish meatballs are delish!
Great food with unattentive and cold service. No check back by staff nor apparent management during the entire visit. Only the host checked in the end (who was lovely btw). We even had to top up our own water (both bottles) the entire time. No second serve whilst i finished my drink during the meal. What is the worst is that my brother who is allergic to nuts (which we informed the waiteress about) even received their “fudge” with NUTS and they did not mention a thing. I did not order coffee but only realised when i opened the wrapper and saw chuncks of nuts. Lack of attention even tho it was very quiet. Just very dissapointed. I wanted to book dinner with my partner for the same evening but decided to go somewhere else. A shame!
Superb service crowned our friendly get together in this scandic influenced designed dining room which recollects the elegance of art deco. Food was delicious and with emphasis on freshness and nordic cuisine. Will be back soon.
My Norwegian husband and I have been to this restaurant several occasions, but this time our visit was disappointing.
The food was excellent as always, but the service was very poor for a Michelin star restaurant with a reasonably expensive menu (£34 for a fish course)
The kitchen staff did an amazing job with the food. Everything was cooked to perfection and the menu is excellent. Traditional Skandinavian food with a modern twist. However the kitchen was let down by the front of house team. The staff are well meaning and polite, but they didn't seem to know how to time the service. They took too long to ask for our food order, and when they did, they took the order wrong (despite the fact that I corrected it twice). They also took very long between taking the order and serving the food (i.e. 30 minutes between finishing the starter and the main course; and 15 minutes for an espresso at the end of the meal). There were many people serving the table which only seemed to add to the confusion.
The food is great so it is a pity that the service is not as good as it used to be. The service needs more finesse to match the quality of the food and the michelin ranked price.
Went for my anniversary. Great food, service and atmosphere. They even did a special anniversary message within our deserts, which was a very nice touch. Would definitely recommend.
The food was great and nice atmosphere. A bit more on the casual side than I expected.
My daughter and I really enjoyed ourselves, we will come back!
Second time to Aquavit and thoroughly enjoyed it. Good food, great very attentive service, busy but you didn't feel like the table next to you was part of your conversation. Get the meatballs! Would recommend to meet frienda, business meal or a lunch.
Fantastic food and gorgeous space but absolutely terrible server. Rushed us to order. Pushed us to order way more food than we wanted. Took forever to receive our food and wouldn’t bring the bill even when it was requested. When we said thank you after we paid he just walked away. Love coming here for drinks but don’t think I’ll be back for a meal.
Lovely luscious and languorous. But enough about me. It is always fun to visit Aquavit. Went with a delightful and knowledgeable Swede who certainly knew his onions. And turnips and other root vegetables. Definitely recommended!!
A really lovely couple of plates of food that was well presented and well served. My turbot was excellent, well complemented by halved beetroot and a very (perhaps too) delicate horseradish sauce and my companion's monkfish was wolfed down and complemented. The restaurant is a sort of modern, high ceilinged, very light but ultimately rather bland space though they've done what they can with it in an it-still-doesn't-seem-very-Norwegian kind of way. It's also rather expensive for what it is - Michelin prices for what is admittedly very good food and I'm sure they'll get a star soon. That said, they do lack some of the theatre available elsewhere for the price. That said, would I go back? Yes, happily. But perhaps not immediately...
