Nice food but service debatable. Waited 20 mins to be offered a drink on arrival.
Lovely atmosphere amazing food you must try the artic birds nest desert
We had lunch from the a la carte menu. Never had this type food before, it was excellent. Gravlax was so fresh, mackerel starter and both main monkfish and cod dishes were perfect.
Had the traditional spirits paired with our starters, and all the flavours and processes were explained clearly. Puddings were great, birds nest was complex and like nothing else we have ever had. Swedish omelette (baked Alaska) was so creamy and light. The wine is expensive though, shame they cant put on a reasonably priced one or two. All in all, I would recommend it as its an experience!
Always a pleasure to go to this restaurant
In a one star Michelin restaurant there should be more attention to service, to dishes presentation, to customers expectations, only good food is not enough.
The interior is cool, but food is mediocre, the oysters are heavily overpriced and still water taste rusty like unfiltered tap water.
Lovely food, great atmosphere. You have to try the Swedish meatballs!
Food all fairly bland, wine list extortionate with no decent lower price bottles. Very shiny interior and nice ambiance just hugely let down by the food.
Amazing Swedish food. First time having Swedish food and we loved it! Our waitress, Zuzana, was amazing, explaining the different dishes. It was a lovely ambience, with very attentive service. We will definitely be going back.
It was a special occasion for us, being our Wedding Anniversary. We were very touched by the sweet ice-cream they brought out for us.
BEST INTERIORS. Best food. Best cocktails. Love this place.
A very enjoyable evening, food was excellent with great service, all staff were very friendly. Definitely going back.
Overall, the experience was good. I liked my starter (herring), but didn't like the main that much (meatball). My wife liked both starter (smoked salmon) and main (whole boned trout). Service and atmosphere were also perfect.
However, on the day we visited, unfortunately half of main menu and some of starter and others were not available, which is actually quite odd considering that it is Michelin starred restaurant.
Saturday night dinner for 3. Food was outstanding; ambience and decor very good. Service - mostly attentive and helpful. Smorgasbord selection was great - crab; pickled veg; gravadlax. Mains - trout; venison; cod. All excellent and beautifully prepared and presented. Same with deserts - choc cake a liquorice ice cream; crumble with cinnamon bun ice cream. Very fine dinner - reasonable price to be honest for the quality, location, ambience etc.
The kitchen ran out of gas so most of the menu items were not available. What was available was very good. They gave free dessert-artic nest was fantastic.
We had a long and lovely brunch- service is friendly and welcoming, and didn't rush us at all. The menu is varied and has excellent choice. We tried a few smorgasbord some of which were excellent (herring), some of which were not so impressive (salmon). The whole trout main was delicious! Highly recommend.
There were discrepancies on the bill as were charged different prices than on the menu! Much more expensive than we anticipated but everything was enjoyed and for St James its not more than you would expect to pay elsewhere
I've been to Aquavit 4 times for dinner, lunch, and for business tea. Everyone I've been with has thought their food was outstanding. Best rye bread of my life.
the restaurant is aesthetically beautiful but the brunch food is very sub-par, perhaps mediocre at best.
I’d definitely recommend the Smorgasbord! The trio of herring was my favourite, paired with an aquavit. We chose from the a la carte menu but they do a good value weekend brunch set menu
Excellent Pre Theatre Menu - Took my family for a Skandanavin treat. The food has all the ingredients of Skandanavian cuisine but the combinations of flavours was outstanding, with all the hallmarks of fine dining. Open atmosphere and excellent service.
Qualified yes. The pre-theatre menu was very limited, and the wine seemed very expensive. I am no expert on Swedish meatballs, so perhaps they are supposed to be dry, but the vegetarian option looked much more appetizing - and received positive comments.
Contrary to some reviews, the service was prompt, efficient and friendly.
Second visit to Aquavit and enjoyed it just as much as the first time. Food is delicious. The duck is the most tender I've had any where.
Beautiful and fresh fish dishes. Perfect execution.
Wonderful food and excellent service. Not the place for quiet, intimate conversation, but the outstanding food offsets the astounding noise.
Lovely atmosphere and excellent service at Aquavit. We opted for the post theatre menu which really was excellent value. Food was really tasty and nice portion size too. Very much enjoyed the experience
It may seem a bit pricey, but once I ate I felt it was a bargain. Amazing restaurant.
Very pleasant staff. Really nice to talk with. Food is well presented and good to eat !
Great food, albeit slightly overpriced.
Everything we had was beautifully presented and tasty. We found the service was great! Very pleasant evening overall.
Will be returning!
Really enjoyed this restaurant - the staff were outstanding and the food was excellent. Highly recommended for a great breakfast or brunch option outside of the usual 'brasseries' in the area. Will definitely be back for lunch/dinner.
Excellent food, service confusing as we had 3 different people serving us. Took a while to take our drinks order, not Michelin star service experience, the food made up for it though!
The interpretations of Nordic cuisine at Aquavit were excellent, but boy is this place expensive! Good quality ingredients cost, of course, but these are quite simple dishes and you really are paying for the location. Good (if definitely not Scandinavian) service was welcome. Slightly peculiar decor felt more 1960s Berlin than 21st Century Stockholm. Biff Rydberg was superb but at that price it ought to be.
This was our first visit. We decided against the pre-theatre menu as the choice was limited. We had matje herring to start followed by the cod and the venison served with a cabbage side and a potato side. For dessert we shared a cheese plate. We also shared a bottle of Argentinian wine. The food was nice and well presented - we ate it all. The service was efficient though on occasion we did struggle to understand what the waitress was saying. Our table was by the window which we liked as we had a good view of the local street scene.
This was our first experience of Scandinavian food, not sure we would hurry to repeat the experience though. However if you like this sort of food we sure it's fine.
Our overall view was that it was quite expensive, especially the wines. Not the best value we have had in London.
We went to Aquavit to try the Nordic afternoon tea. We’d seen photos of it and read reviews and it looked like fun. When we got there and asked for it, they looked bemused (which was strange really, because it’s advertised on their website), but they eventually came back and said it was available. In fact that’s not what we got. We were brought a plate each of rye breads with toppings and then a plate each with a couple of pastries/cakes. Add tea to this and a glass of bubbles and it came to £40 each plus service. Nice enough food but certainly not afternoon tea as advertised and very overpriced for what we got. The restaurant itself was pleasant enough but the service was slow and underwhelming. Would we go back again? Probably not! In summary: “meh”.
I’ve been a few times and it’s always great. The wine is however on the pricier side compared to similar style restaurants with not much quality selection between £60-100
Absolutely love this restaurant, great for Fika too. Service was 2nd to none, fab atmosphere and everything was delicious - not to be missed.
💘 valentines! Perfect meal
Delicious healthy lunch accompanied by an excellent wine. A great value dining experience , would definitely eat in Aquavit again. While there are lots of serving staff, service is very pleasant however could be sharper.
Could not fault food or service. Smorgasbord dishes outstanding. Relaxed vibe. Expensive but not outrageous.
Visited for the pre-theatre menu. Absolutely delicious and couldn’t believe the amount for the price. My partner and I said that we will be visiting again and will be highly recommending it to our friends and family!
Outstanding decor, amazing service, and delicious food!
