Dishes at Aquavit London honour fresh, seasonal ingredients and deliver a contemporary take on authentic Nordic cuisine, with menus developed by Henrik Ritzén, Executive Chef of Aquavit London, and Emma Bengtsson, Executive Chef of Aquavit New York.
Overseen by the design studio of Swedish-born Martin Brudnizki (The Ivy, Scott’s and Sexy Fish), Aquavit London has been inspired by Gunnar Asplund’s design of Gothenburg City Hall in Sweden, and the restaurant showcases celebrated Nordic designers in a laid-back yet sophisticated environment.

Great room, love the high ceiling. A quiet environment for a breakfast meeting, sunbathed, with large windows. The food was good, nothing too fatty or over done.
Delicious and great atmosphere. The service was excellent and food top quality. Will definitely go again.
Delicious food, we really enjoyed ourselves. Booked for a meal with my aunt's family who were visiting and for my husband's birthday. Everyone couldn't stop praising the food. Also great atmosphere.
We had a business lunch here and the service and food were both very good. My party had the smoked salmon salad and I had the Swedish meatballs and both food and service were very good, tasteful and fresh. I would recommend it.
It’s always a pleasant experience experience dining at Aquavit. Although I have to say the food is not consistent. It’s always very good but depending on the night you get a different finish of the dishes
A pared back beautiful restaurant with a glamorous bar. The service was exemplary and the food exactly what you would expect from a Swedish restaurant - excellent, fresh ingredients, dynamic tastes. And Aquavit. Lots of Aquavit! And yet it's so clean you are left with no hangover. I'm coming back and next time I'm bringing my dog. Dog friendly! My kind of place.
Superb environment to chat. The menu is great but pricey for what you get and they cremate bacon in the true Scandinavian style!
Relaxed atmosphere, food very fresh and well presented. Good selection of wines, helpful and enthusiastic staff
Great for a business lunch, as the menu is reasonable considering the quality. Superb food and also great to be able to eat outside
Like the matter of fact approach with the food, almost fuss free but clearly with a lot of dedication in the getting the dishes in perfection without the 'bling-ness'. Perfect place for the stealth wealth, nothing to bling about, the perfect and understated culinary experience. The venue interior is luxuriously detailed and designed, very sharp and intended in purpose without much ambiguity and hesitation in functionality. A very confident set up and clear sense of purpose and and this experience is carried out throughout our dinning course. Attentive table service again without the pom or fussiness. Top marks!
Delicious and fresh food using unusual ingredients. Very good value as an after (or before) theatre menu. Service was very friendly but it took quite a bit of time to get our order taken for both drinks and food (and as we were eating after theatre we were all very hungry!) but once the order was taken the food arrived very quickly and was very good! well worth a visit
Very poor service. When we asked our server what kind of fish was in a particular dish he said "it's a typical fish from the ocean." Seriously?
We were only in London for the night, as our flight back to NYC was cancelled. We arrived at our nearby hotel about two hours prior to close, and made reservations online en route to the hotel. We sat down a little over an hour prior to close, and there was maybe one other table the server was attending to. He was very slow. For example, it took him over 15 minutes to bring us a glass of wine.
There was almost nobody in the restaurant. He seemed more focused on closing down than serving us. I can normally understand that; however, we made reservations for a time that the restaurant made available. It wasn't like we walked in unannounced 10 minutes prior to close. For a $200 meal, I expect more.
The entrees were ok - not bad, but not great. The appetizers, however, were very good. The cocktails were also very good.
Overall, this was a low-value dining experience.
We had brunch at AquaVit and were very impressed by the brunch set menu. All of the dishes were wonderfully flavoursome, the service was excellent, and the setting was very good for conversation even though there was a DJ playing ambient background music.
Everything was perfect, from the moment we walked in with our small dog, to the deserts. Nothing was difficult for the staff, the food was of the finest quality and an extensive wine list for all budgets and tastes.
A memorable meal, and thanks to the Aquavit staff.
An excellent restaurant, one of our favourites! They have got it right! From the selection of bread to the quality of well prepared food. We have always enjoyed our meals at this top class restaurant
The food is realy nice. If you want to try the Scandinavian food, this is the place to visit.
One Swedish couple.
Excellent food with very good value for money The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing
Really enjoyed the food and the service. Good value with the pre-theatre menu. Will revisit.
Imaginative, delicious small plates and outstanding breads. Huge variety of aquavit.
We went there for Sunday Brunch and had a lovely time. The food was great and the staff very friendly. So many new restaurants including Michelin stars are cramped with poor acoustic environment but Aquavit is definitely not the case and the large room and space between tables allowed us privacy and to hear one another.
This was by far the most expensive restaurant I had dined at but as it was a special occasion I took the plunge and was worth every penny. We had the Matje herring and the beetroot horseradish from the smorgasbord and the crab for starters all was a amazing.
Fully recommend the crab starter, it's a must. For main I had the duck and my partner had the cod all delicious and finished off with the artic birds nest, wow. Made our night to remember. Thank you.
The food was good, the Arctic Bird's Nest was very unusual and delicious!
However, the service was very slow. It was hard to catch a waiter, they would ignore the requests, forget to bring drinks, they seemed too busy and as if doing us a favour stopping by our table.
Excellent service and really outstanding food albeit at a price.
This is a centrally located restaurant. The ambiance is lovely, modern The Scandinavian food is delicious.
Servers were knowledgeable. I’d go there’s any time again!
Thoroughly enjoyed trying all the different brands of aquavit
Took at good friend from Japan there for dinner, to show him something a bit unusual after he'd taken our family to an amazing dinner in Tokyo. Great food and interior design. Amazingly varied range of aquavit to pair with the appetizers. The meal was pleasingly long, with a range of courses, and the staff friendly. Really happy with the evening.
We had a Friday night date, relatively early evening . Aquavit is a very decent West End restaurant. Atmosphere was a little flat and although the decor looks good, it doesn’t really create intimacy. Staff were very friendly. Food is a little unusual albeit pleasant. I wouldn’t put this at the top of the “must go” list, although it’s an interesting and well presented if pricey alternative.
A wonderfully fresh feeling evening. Great cocktails and food in a relaxed, modern environment. I particularly liked the slightly different ingredients in the food such as liquorice and lingonberries..
Amazing food and amazing staff, had such a good meal :)
We had a most enjoyable business lunch. The dished were refreshing, delicious and comforting. The ambiance and decor sharp yet relaxed. Consistently high quality from start to finish. The Arctic Bird's Nest is one of the best puddings I have had in years!
a very beautifully decorated restaurant with good Scandinavian food and good service.the fact that the restaurant is spacious and one can have a conversation and it is not noisy is a real plus.
fantastic food at incredibly reasonable prices! lovely chilled out ambiance with clean fresh ingrediants
Always good. We had dinner on a Sunday at 6pm. The food is all fabulous! Service superb. Kate was funny and charming, a lovely evening.
Had the pre theatre menu £22 for two courses, OK but not special, nice restaurant but noisy from outside music venue
This was my second visit to Aquavit. This time I booked for myself and 2 friends - we wanted a pre-theatre venue (near the Haymarket theatre) and Aquavit also offers light bites and a menu suitable for non-meat eaters who love fish. I am not overly familiar with Nordic food so this was a delight again the second time around. We picked two each from the smorgasbord menu and spent as much time talking about it as eating it. A wonderful combination of flavours that tickle your taste buds. Note they serve the best gluten-free bread I've ever had - it's in keeping with traditional dark bread. Notable wine list although a bottle starts at £28 and the list quickly and dramatically increases in price.
My daughter and I enjoyed yet another scrumptious breakfast at Aquavit on Friday. Courteous staff who were very helpful as ever. We shall be back.
Had a nice date night, food lovely but service could’ve been better for the amount we paid. Bring deep pockets though!
Yes. This place is pricey, but the food and the service are unbelievably good. We were seated next to the door, which wasn't ideal, but we didn't ask them to move so can't really complain, and it was a very warm night so not such an issue.
My advice is; Try things you have never heard of, sound a bit gross, or have always wanted to try because you will not be disappointed. Every mouthful here was a pleasure. The serving staff were amazing, and managed to make a whole bottle of wine last an entire night between three - never pushed us to buy a second, and they really knew the menu inside and out.
Beautiful place, I took my Mother because I know she loves Nordic things, it was a special treat and we certainly couldn't afford to go there often, but it was the perfect one off. We would love to return one day when we have the cash, because it is really worth every penny.
Thank you to the chefs and staff for a beautiful and memorable evening.
I love this restaurant so much. I’ve been addicted for Nordic food after knowing the Aquavit. So addicted I’ve started visit all Nordic countries after it. Very good!
There is only one way to describe Aquavit and that is pure class. All the staff showed pride in their work, food was superb and the atmosphere was spot on. Even if you’re not a fan you should try the Aquavit (Scandinavian digestive). Overall well worth the visit and we will be returning and recommending.
