Artisan Bar & Kitchen
Situated in the heart of Union Street in Ryde in the stunning site previously graced by Joe Daflo's.
Artisan is a relaxed but elegant dining and drinking space serving a wide range of craft and European beers alongside a unique selection of wines and full range of spirits.
Our fabulously decadent cocktail and gin lounge will be open Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings upstairs where you'll find a selection of 100 gins with many tonics and botanicals.
Quality food is also central to Artisan. Sharing platters, small plates and authentic Italian dishes are created from the best produce the Isle of Wight has to offer.
Need to book at 19:00?Other great restaurants with availability.
We really enjoyed the meal at this restaurant in Ryde. It was easy, low stress, the food came quickly, the service was excellent and overall, was a great experience. They had good Isle of Wight produce on the menu which was nice to see. The bar man / mixologist was excellent, friendly and really helpful.
The food seemed to be reheated from lunchtime, maybe?
Salmon mousse was definitely lacking the salmon (or any other fish) -tasted like whipped cream....
Turkey obviously soaked in the gravy from lunchtime and 'roast' potatoes were soft and mushy.
Best were the Brussel sprouts, though not all ate sprouts.....
Very disappointed with the food.
Very good service, staff were attentive, food was tasty and good portion sizes.
Nice relaxed ambiance for the meal, live music after was very good.
Drinks are a little on the pricey side but that's the only negative.
Good food, good pints, friendly staff and a nice building! I had pork, my partner had the steak, and both were excellent. The portions were massive! Top marks to the manager for politely and quietly ejecting some local lads who were shouting and swearing at the bar. They might not be back, but we will be!
Loved the live music
Nice place, quite buzzy and staff are friendly. I’ve only really marked it down because they didn’t have chicken goujons left on the kids menu (early doors Sat night!) and no burgers on the kids menu which I thought was strange considering all the food looked like it was made to order in the kitchen.
Arrived at 10:15 for a reservation made, doors were closed and inside all packed up. Told by a member of staff that other members of staff had not turned up and as a result the place was not yet open. Told could be at least half an hour.
Did not go back.
We would recommend the Jaz night because the trio are very good. The atmosphere was warm and friendly and the decor is attractive to look at. The location of the bar is central to Ryde. The biggest let down is the food. It was not hot, the portions were small and it was very bland and really lacked any wow factor. Disappointed.
What can I say. Lovely food. Service great. Fantastic CAPRINIA
Nice modern retro decor with great friendly staff, we had lovely wine, shared bread, and ate various dishes from the menu, none of which disappointed. Afterwards we went upstairs to the cocktail lounge which really let the place down with a watery aperol spritz and a warm champagne cocktail, such a shame.
I had a great meal here recently. I hadn't realised that it was part of the Inns of Distinction group on the island and of I had I would have come sooner. The food is as good as any of their other restaurants but in a more informal setting.
The vodka marinated salmon on chickpea fritters was delicious and I now wish to learn to make it myself. My partner and I both had the pork belly which was delicious and cooked very well and was nearly the size of two portions of pork belly in other restaurants.
The venue is ideal for a date / date night meal.
Fantastic staff, friendly and extremely helpful
Overall a very enjoyable evening. Very friendly staff, good service and a lively atmosphere, without drowning out all chance of conversation. The singer was excellent. The ham hock starter was tasty and enough for the two of us to share. The lamb shank was very tender and full of flavour. The only disappointment was the seafood pasta – very well realised, but tiny, even though it was meant to be a main course.
I wasn't impressed with the food, I had seafood pasta (gf option) but barely had any seafood in and it was mainly pasta with a tomato sauce. The staff were friendly but it was busy and only one lady doing drinks, taking food orders and serving the food, could do with more staff on a Saturday afternoon.
Cannot fault Artisan. Easy booking process, friendly, efficient and knowledgeable staff. Varied menu, good quality food and decent sized portions. Restaurant is unusual, airy and quirky. Great cocktail bar upstairs. Had a wonderful evening. Very impressed.
Lamb shank was dry and over cooked, rib eye steak was tough and had no rib eye!
Food not so good as the last time, which was early March, also live music not so good. He didn’t engage with the crowd as well!
I went here with my wife. I ordered a medium steak with a coke, I was given a hot chocolate and a steak dripping blood that was probably not even rare. We also had to ask the waiter for a knife and fork after the food was put on the table as none had been provided and none of the staff had noticed. I am not very fussy with these kind of things but the steak was barely cooked and not even close to medium, when I pointed it out to the waiter it was met with a shrug of the shoulders.
We had high hopes going in but our experience this night was terrible from start to end. The barely cooked steak cost £21, which is much pricier than some of the excellent restaurants nearby. Needless to say we will not be returning.
Great food great atmosphere loved cocktail too!!!! Thank you
Food was lovely! If I would say anything negative it would be that the sandwich / cake ratio on the afternoon tea could be better. Not enough savoury and too much cake. But everyone is different so..........
My mum had the pan fried sea bass and she said it was one of the best meals she has ever eaten!
Superb food, much better than I was hoping for, I will return
Average food. Gave a wooden coffee stirrer and a straw as a drink stirrer, we had to ask for cutlery and condiments. Staff were polite but let down by management. Food was bland and served on small plates meaning it was crammed. No web site and no menu on display led us to ask if they have opened too soon. Not great but not cheap either. A pity Ryde needs another decent restaurant.
