Fantastic meal, best we have ever had anywhere. So many delicious courses.
OK, we arrived about 15 minutes early and were directed to the bar. Ordered drinks at the bar (two glasses of bubbly, turned out to be prosecco). Two glasses and two mini bottles. Left to find a table and pour the drinks ourselves. Chatting and then 35 minutes later, because nobody had come to take us to a table in the adjoining restaurant, we wondered back out back to the main entrance and were then shown to our wobbly table. I think we had been forgotten. After this the service was fine (as-in OK). Valentines tasting menu was the only option; six courses where the chef did his best, I think. Some courses were successful (cod course good, Macaron nice, Quail was OK) and others were not ('welsh rarebit' ice-cream thing was very odd, lamb main was bad). I was left feeling that the chef had tried too hard to show a range of cooking skills but forgot to make sure that the dishes 'worked'. Given the excellent class of other restaurants in the local area, I think the Artistry may struggle to build a patronage with this quality of experience. We may come again, but only if we are unable to find a table elsewhere for a given date.
Didn’t realise I’d booked the ‘taster menu’ (having booked on-line using a mobile phone) but I’m really pleased I did. The presentation of the dishes, quality of ingredients and taste were all outstanding. The service was similarly outstanding and ambiance in the restaurant was fine as any background music was just that, background and kept low. Top marks to the Chef, so much care, attention and obvious pride in his/her work. Wine list was very good and will definitely come again.
Excellent tasting menu. Some tastes we had not experienced any where else. Every course was enjoyable. Excellent value for money.
