Food was amazing - so tasty and the tandoori chicken was the best we’ve tasted. Only let down by the popadums.
Our waiter was so friendly and attentive and is a credit to Asha’s.
1st experience at Asha’s and definitely won’t be the last. We were made to feel very welcome from the time we entered until we left.
Food was great quality & taste, drink menu was extensive.
We went to Asha’s with very high expectations. Her name (which is undoubtedly reminiscent of the highest quality if anyone even vaguely knows music, particularly from the Indian subcontinent) associated with it, the menu, the costs, booking system - all implied that we would be in for a unique treat.
We reached on time, the reception was was courteous. We were also told that we could choose from the dinner menu and not just from the lunch menu.
The mocktails were good. The starters (chicken malai kebab) were deliciously cooked except that they were a bit salty. In the main course we had chicken dhaba curry which again had well cooked chicken and the gravy was excellent. Another main course was ‘Hare baingan ka bharta’ which is also described as Mai’s (guess Asha Bhosle’s mother) favourite. As we come from Maharashtra, we do love bharta and if I may say, know what a good ‘bharta’ is. It almost met expectations… again everything was adequately cooked (for example, onions tasted great in the bharta as they should) but once again it was too salty.
The breads, rice, dal makhani were excellent.
Overall we thought you could get similar / excellent food (it may not be as unique as ‘bharta’) in many other restaurants for half the price and similar ambience. Being a great fan of Asha Bhosle and knowing that she has an eye for minute details and unique style executed to perfection, be it music or food, I would request the restaurant to take my feedback positively and make these small corrections if they found them worth considering. Thank you.
Brilliant - thank you can’t wait to return
Booked a party of 6 to celebrate a family birthday. The food was so delicious, the service prompt & friendly and the surroundings were lovely. It was an excellent evening, will definitely be booking again!
Absolutely love Asha’s the food and ambiance and service is excellent.
Would highly recommend.
I booked Asha's for a family meal. A group of 4 all found the food to be of poor quality. From the mocktails which where Tropicana juice from carton which can be purchased from a supermarket for approx £1 is poured into a tall glass and a piece of fruit placed on top and charged £6 to Briyani which was so dry, lamb so chewy and flavourless, paneer was like chewing gum and awful choices of flavours as if I was downing a bottle of perfume.
What topped it off was a Julab jammun for dessert which was just that on it's on with a tiny drizzle of sauce provided warm..£8. I asked if it came with ice cream which every other restaurant provides such as Veranasi, but was told I could add a single scoop of ice cream for £6 more.
My total bill came to £231 so I wasnt there to mess around. But was definitely left underwhelmed and with an extremely low opinion of Asha's restaurant.
The waiter asked why so much food was left we politely said the quality of food isnt what we expected and he said I'll let the manager know and see what we can do but the manager didnt care and I was billed for the full amount including service of £30. Which is fine.. but just wished I had left feeling the experience was worth it but definitely wasnt.
We had a great time. Loved it, staff and food were amazing.
One of the best restaurant in West Midlands.
We went there to celebrate my wife's birthday.
1. Promptly attended and seated at our reserved table.
2. Menu has sufficient options.
3. Taste is good with options to choose from light, mild to bit hot options.
4. Portion was also sufficient for us.
5. Lighting was great and pleasing to the eyes.
6. No noise and smoke. Sufficient space was allowed between tables to help people enjoy their food and conversations.
Not so great bit-
I ordered Chicken dhaba style, it tasted good but I was expecting it to be more hot like Indian food.
Giving benefit of doubt here, may be it was intentionally made medium spicy/ hot as My son was with us.
Special mention to Thomas who served us superbly and was prompt in his service even though it was a really busy time for him. Thanks to him to make our dinner even better.
NOT WORTH THE MONEY AT ALL AND IM NOT TIGHT !!! WE WUD RATHER DRIVE TO THE SHARD FOODS CHEAPER THERE TOO !!!
TOP NOTCH INDIAN FOOD PRICES I EXPECTED TOP NOTCH INDIAN FOOD £120 for 2 x 2 course meals 2 courses were veggie with one side n 2 drinks if you had meat might of been better but doubt it rice was plain nice place bad food try tama tanga if you a foodie
Overall the food and service was good however for a majority of our time in the restaurant there was one table with 2 women on that was very noisy and sounded as if there where drunk ? We didn't say anything as we figured the restaurant would of said something but didn't. We came here as a special ocassion for my partners Birthday and figured the money spent would of refined such behaviour happening. The noise did stop but near the end of of our meal. I would also like to thank the restaurant for bringing a piece of cake our for my partners birthday .
Very big selection of veggie options which was impressive. Food was very nice but I’ve given a 3 because it wasn’t nicer than a lot of regular Indian restaurants like my local one yet it cost twice the price! So really not worth the money IMO. Great cocktails though!
Generally really dissapointed. I'd been to the Solihull restaurant and was really impressed, however the service in Birmingham was really poor and more like a club than a restaurant.
Food was amazing however!
Had a lovely time, first visit and won't be the last. The place is beautiful, food is amazing and a great atmosphere. The staff are so nice and service was brilliant. Cocktails are so wo good.
Would recommend Asha's to anyone.
First time at Ashas Birmingham. Been to Manchester Ashas many times. We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and as usual the food was outstanding. Will definitely back again when we next visit Birmingham.
It’s always about the customer experience and quality of the food. It passed by of these in flying colours. Well Done Team.
I NEVER leave reviews. But this restaurant definitely deserves a review! If I could tell the world I would! EVERYBODY needs to visit this place at least once in their life. I booked the six course menu for my partners birthday and he absolutely loved it.
I’m not really a fan of Indian food, but it’s my partners favourite cuisine - hence why I booked. I really wasn’t looking forwards to the food. However they blew my expectations out of the water!! Everything that was served was mouth watering! The flavours and amount of spice is just right. Portion sizes were HUGE! My partner can EAT, but for him even after the fourth course was so full. We had to ask for the remaining courses to be taken out!
The customer service is exceptional. We were made to feel comfortable and welcome. Food that was served was placed on the table well and they take pride in presentation. Courses were explained to us and how it was cooked!! I honestly couldn’t fault the place.
It is a little pricey but for what you get it is worth every penny plus a tip!
Our only faults were we found a hair embedded in the crushed ice which is served under the lemon sorbet. As I work around food myself, I know this could be an easy mistake due to hair cycles. We politely asked for the dish to be changed and it was with many apologies.
Another downfall was we were not given our welcome glass of Prosecco for our first course. But i would still promote this place and give nothing but good reviews!!
Tasting/ experience menu was WAY too much food and would have worked better with much smaller/ sample mains and smaller/ samples of different breads maybe? But quality was fantastic, would have been better experience if I could hear the others talk and the tables were close together is was super loud inside
Really excellent food and good value, our server J was polite and professional.
Been to many indians, chose this as it was top ten on timeout in Birmingham. Wouldn't go back to be honest the value for money wasn't great compared to other resturants although meat quality was lovely.
I ordered tandoori chicken to be told "are you sure it's very dry" well that's why I ordered it. And to charge £10 for a small side portion of korma sauce is ludicrous. Yes I know you don't go there for korma but I always get a side to taste it.
However service was nice and resturant is pretty.
Excellent food, excellent service everything was perfect, helped me get to hospital, love them
Beautiful food and cocktails were outstanding, definitely a good restaurant for any occasion
Best Indian restaurant in Birmingham! No other compares. Service is amazing, the food is incredible. The non vegetarian kebabs are something I get every time I go. Would recommend 10/10
- The food is EXCELLENT.
- The decor is lovely - tasteful.
- The staff are absolutely brilliant - they aren't pretentious, they're super helpful, happy to take pictures, explain things from the menu, tell you where things are sourced from, run back and forth to the kitchen with questions - and all with smiles on their faces.
Parking nearby was painless too. Go with confidence! You'll have a lovely time.
Asha's Birmingham - Food delicious but getting too expensive now!
Will maybe go on the odd occasion!
Excellent all round
Wonderful restaurant with fantastic staff and truly amazing food. Prices are high but the density of the food belies what many will expect; so filling - very large pieces of chicken and thick dense curry mean you don't need much food. One 'slight' issue is spiciness was much higher than you may expect in some standard dishes - Chicken Tikka Masala was Jalfrezi level spicy - tasted great but unexpected. Also Chicken Korma was far too spicy - my daughter had to leave half of it despite being given extra yoghurt upon request. At these prices, I feel staff should ask what level of spicy everyone likes. A comment of 'our Korma / Masala dishes are spicier than you might expect in other restaurants - is that ok'? would have been very beneficial. We were given a booth - which I suspect was because I had mentioned it was a birthday meal. A truly great experience overall and 'very' highly recommended.
As always what a great night food was amazing and the staff as good as ever
Very nice restaurant. Service was impeccable and the food was delicious
Food was great. We had a 2 hour slot but it was just over an hour before the starters arrived. This meant we only finished main course 15 minutes before the end of our slot. Bill was put in front of us straight away as a prompt that it was time to leave. We weren’t asked if we wanted desert or coffee. No problem with only having 2 hours allocated but service needs to be a bit quicker at the start to allow time at the end.
Beautifully cooked food in a stylish venue. We opted for the pre-theatre menu. We couldn't fault it.
Every thing I liked in this restaurant food device drink but price wise it’s really high taste is really gud enjoy every bit of it there should be days where u should do 50%of so ppl like us can more come and enjoy on today bill not just on main or starter it should be 50% of from mail total
We had an enjoyable evening at Asha's
The quality of food was very good and the Service was excellent.
It was a bit too noisy, but I suppose being a Friday evening and a couple of big groups enjoying , it was understandable.
Overall a good place to have an enjoyable evening meal.
It's always a special night coming to Asha's and tonight's meal was excellent, as usual. The President's platter was fantastic, a perfect mix of flavour and spice. Can't wait to come back.
Great evening, food was delicious as always. Had a spinach based dish for main and the wrong curry was brought out to begin with which they quickly rectified after only a few seconds and let us have both for the mix up as well. Celebrating anniversary with my partner and service was great with complimentary anniversary dessert.
