Forgot to use my membership card to get discount - doh! Can you build that in to the booking system so it's flagged when you pay?
A little disappointed in the choice of main courses. Crab and avocado salad was tasty but very little crab. Deserts were delicious although a cheese cake had been substituted.
Very pleasant environment, nice food and good service. What’s not to like.
Just wanted a small lunch - only option to have starter and bread basket. Embarrassing as my guests crab starter was full of bone and inedible. Oh dear and such limited choice she ended up just eating bread!
Serving Staff very kind but food disaster
The Japanese themed menu was an excellent follow on from visiting the Tokyo exhibition. The beautiful sunny weather was a bonus sitting out on the terrace in October and drinking a good Spanish white house wine. Attentive and professional staff. A great family occasion. We shall be back.
Delightful spot to dine outdoors with view of The Randolph Hotel & several other Oxford rooftops. Indoor dining room has a wall of glass doors to facilitate similar experience inside. Lovely lunch.
Too few staff for number of customers. Waiters too busy to give good service. Won’t use it again
service took over an hour to give us our food and when the food came it had no flavour and was over done
In terms of location, particularly on a warm and sunny day, this aspect is unrivaled. The food is hit and miss and the service starts of great but is easily overwhelmed when busy.
Great venue and good value for the centre of Oxford
Nice setting and well meaning staff but pretty slow for service. The food was good but I felt a little over priced for what it was.
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Lovely food very healthy,!
The food was fine but a limited menu compared with pre-pandemic times, no doubt linked to the current difficulties in finding staff. Good service and, of course, super location.
Even on a rainy day, this is a perfect venue to look over the rooftops of Oxford. Unique, airy and spacious.
Limited menu with poor selection. Should have used the downstairs cafe.
On the way up, our intentions were thoroughly crosschecked by a rather sour member of museum staff, even though we, by all means, dressed to the occasion and were behaving quite well for most of the time.
Our calm but steady resolve not to let petty annoyances stand in the way of a beautiful Sunday afternoon allowed us to brush that slight unwelcoming attitude away with a compassionate smile, fully realising that it is unfortunately not for everyone to be so happy as to find the job of their lives.
Once we arrived in the restaurant, staff were truly friendly and helpful, to the extent tat starters were served after the mains and the bill was presented to us twice, but given the beautiful setting on the rooftop terrace, basking in an early autumn sun, as well as my being in the company of a true love rekindled after 10 years, all was swiftly forgiven.
Food was certainly good, bordering on refined, but portions were oh so very tiny and I'm by no means an "all you can eat buffet" type of person.
The walk around the museum itself after lunch made us look intelligent, which was a pleasant experience in it own right.
All in all, we spent a very nice afternoon, little hiccups included.
Lovely location, staff were very attentive. Food was good, wine was a bit expensive
Reminded us not to eat at the end of the lunch sitting. Food was distinctly average and 2.5 peas does not make a portion! Service very good and location brilliant
Wonderful location, obviously. Service exemplary. The food was good, but expensive for what was served. My wife and I had the fish and chips. Far too much batter (greasy) masking the fish (delicious). The cost of the food just took the edge of ano otherwise enjoyable experience.
Gorgeous food - great flavours, and well presented.
Good out door terrace and views of rooftops and the Randolph Hotel opposite. Six of us all enjoyed the food including cauliflower steak. I look forward to my next visit
Great atmosphere, amazing service on the outer decking area. Food was brilliant - would go again tomorrow. Whilst choice was limited the quality was outstanding and the person in charge was on the ball all the time . Her team were attentive and professional!
Lunch was limited to 3 options of starters, mains and desserts. This would usually be fine as easier to make decisions but the choices were weird-ramen, cauliflower steak or fishy vinaigrette. Most of our group opted instead either for a starter supplemented with a side dish or 2 side dishes. All very nice but odd
In fine weather it’s hard to beat. Lovely occasion. Will in time visit museum again and take tea In roof top restaurant.
Service was slow at the beginning but otherwise acceptable.
Always a very pleasant venue for tea after an exhibition.
Somewhat misleading advertising. Can’t really see the rooftops of Oxford as the nearest buildings obscure every thing else. Minimal selection of food choices. Great service and outdoor seating. Come for the convenience if visiting the Ashmolean but not for the food or view.
Fantastic food. Decent wine. The atmosphere was pleasant, even serene. Perfect opportunity for people watching and the service was attentive and polite. We had a lovely time and cannot recommend it highly enough.
Interesting food well presented. It was good that the menu was short.
Quite different from how it was pre-Covid. Less choice . not the near-fine dining it was and more modern Bistro
OK if visiting the museum but not as a restaurant destination in itself
Good food. I had the roast cauliflower which was delicious. Service was efficient.
We sat on the terrace which was very pleasant.
Good food in a lovely environment and complementing our visit to the Museum
Very limited menu
Food quite expensive
Very good service
Lovely place for a meal.
Had coffee in the downstairs cafe previously. Genuinely awful
Attractive rooftop location in centre of Oxford. Elegant restaurant and good food. No evening service at present and lunchtime menu somewhat limited
Perfect, lovely food, great waitress service, spotless, enjoyable.
This was a meal that lived up to the idyllic setting and was good value too. Shortage of staff meant that service was a bit slow but that was understandable in the circumstances.
A leisurely lunch out on the terrace on a beautiful late summer day at the Ashmolean - what could be better?
The location and atmosphere on a sunny lunch time during the week were both lovely. The menu was a little limited, but they had some Japanese dishes to commemorate the 'Tokyo Art I would have preferred a more leisurely lunch.
Lovely setting, friendly and very efficient staff and service, really enjoyable food.
You would have got higher ratings if you had had notices on the tables affected by wasps saying 'Not in use: wasps'. Instead people walked to the outside tables and sharply retreated indoors. We did it ourseles and then watched 6 parties doing the same.
