Cauliflower Steak, Bulgur Wheat & Romesco Sauce
Chicken or Fish Goujons, Chips and Salad
Great atmosphere, amazing service on the outer decking area. Food was brilliant - would go again tomorrow. Whilst choice was limited the quality was outstanding and the person in charge was on the ball all the time . Her team were attentive and professional!
Lunch was limited to 3 options of starters, mains and desserts. This would usually be fine as easier to make decisions but the choices were weird-ramen, cauliflower steak or fishy vinaigrette. Most of our group opted instead either for a starter supplemented with a side dish or 2 side dishes. All very nice but odd
In fine weather it’s hard to beat. Lovely occasion. Will in time visit museum again and take tea In roof top restaurant.
Service was slow at the beginning but otherwise acceptable.
Always a very pleasant venue for tea after an exhibition.
Somewhat misleading advertising. Can’t really see the rooftops of Oxford as the nearest buildings obscure every thing else. Minimal selection of food choices. Great service and outdoor seating. Come for the convenience if visiting the Ashmolean but not for the food or view.
Fantastic food. Decent wine. The atmosphere was pleasant, even serene. Perfect opportunity for people watching and the service was attentive and polite. We had a lovely time and cannot recommend it highly enough.
Interesting food well presented. It was good that the menu was short.
Quite different from how it was pre-Covid. Less choice . not the near-fine dining it was and more modern Bistro
OK if visiting the museum but not as a restaurant destination in itself
Good food. I had the roast cauliflower which was delicious. Service was efficient.
We sat on the terrace which was very pleasant.
Good food in a lovely environment and complementing our visit to the Museum
Very limited menu
Food quite expensive
Very good service
Lovely place for a meal.
Had coffee in the downstairs cafe previously. Genuinely awful
Attractive rooftop location in centre of Oxford. Elegant restaurant and good food. No evening service at present and lunchtime menu somewhat limited
Perfect, lovely food, great waitress service, spotless, enjoyable.
This was a meal that lived up to the idyllic setting and was good value too. Shortage of staff meant that service was a bit slow but that was understandable in the circumstances.
A leisurely lunch out on the terrace on a beautiful late summer day at the Ashmolean - what could be better?
The location and atmosphere on a sunny lunch time during the week were both lovely. The menu was a little limited, but they had some Japanese dishes to commemorate the 'Tokyo Art I would have preferred a more leisurely lunch.
Lovely setting, friendly and very efficient staff and service, really enjoyable food.
You would have got higher ratings if you had had notices on the tables affected by wasps saying 'Not in use: wasps'. Instead people walked to the outside tables and sharply retreated indoors. We did it ourseles and then watched 6 parties doing the same.
Lovely setting and really nice staff. Food was okay but not stunning.
Good atmosphere and interesting menu (not too big or complicated). Excellent cauliflower mains.
There has been a real effort to provide an Interesting menu. Not too long but with enough variation to please everybody though I would’ve liked to have seen cheese amongst the deserts.
Great service good food.
Rubbish menu didn't stay for lunch
Excellent location and the food and service were very good. The menu is limited but that does mean it is fresh and high quality and there is something for everyone. Highly recommended
Little choice, as in 'no choice' for mains. Not sure what kind of restaurants think they can cater for a variety of customers by only offering 3 main courses!! On the day one wasn't available, reducing the choice to 2. We had treated ourselves in going there and I was reduced to having a starter for my lunch and left hungry. There is a certain arrogance in a restaurant that thinks that the public will be happy with such a limited choice on the menu
This is a lovely venue. If you like Oxford it is a treat to be up in the rooftops of the city. The view is good but do not expect the dreaming spires! The ambience is so special. The food is interesting and varied. Something for everyone. Access for wheelchairs is really good and the welcome from staff is amazing, so caring and helpful.
It is not cheap but if you want to celebrate it is well worth it. We have celebrated a 90th Birthday and a special Anniversary with Mum and she wants to go in April 2022 for her 93rd Birthday.
Give it a try if you want to treat yourself to something special.
Lovely rooftop location, small menu but all the food was delicious and the staff were very attentive
The restaurant was more of a cafe but with very little choice of food. The decor is poor and the views not worth the visit. We were very disappointed and would not recommend it.
Very limited choice of main courses. Foccaccio rather stale. We had all tasted better ramen
Have visited several times before & always enjoyed the food very much but not on this occasion
Lovely setting and view. Visit was let down by quite average and slow service and a very limited menu. Feels like a missed opportunity for such a great setting.
Excellent lunchtime dining experience. Very good food and prompt professional service. The menu, whilst limited, offers a selection of dishes that meet most palettes.
The location and ambience was excellent, as was the service. The food was disappointing on this occasion - the smoked salmon starter was overwhelmed by loads of disgusting beetroot and the chicken ramen was just very odd (bits of chicken and egg in a tasteless watery soup). But I have enjoyed the food here on past occasions - there just wasn't anything I really fancied on the menu.
Great location, especially on the terrace. Limited food choice but very good. Excellent and friendly service.
This is an extremely expensive venue for a meal. £143 inc tip for four people, two courses for three and one course for one plus one bottle of wine.
on a sunny day, it is a very pleasant location.
Limited menu, different to the online “summer lunch” menu. Service was slow but friendly. There was little, if any, ambience - it’s a big room with no indication that it’s on top of a fabulous museum. Food was just okay, seemed basic for the high prices.
A table outside, a very pleasant atmosphere. Service was excellent - unhurried, allowing us to chat (and chat. . . .!) The menu was rather limited, but a larger portion of a starter dish was made available with no problems.
We visited the restaurant for the first time to celebrate our daughters birthday. It was her choice if venue as she has visited a number of times before with her now five year old son.
Based on our experience I would recommend the restaurant to anyone.
The lunch menu is not extensive, but every member of our party of six (four adults, one 10 year old and one 5 year old) found something they liked and enjoyed.
The staff were attentive and friendly and the bill was very reasonable taking into account “nibbles”, starters, main courses & desserts were order of the day plus wine and other drinks.
The bonus is of course that you have the opportunity to visit the fascinating museum as well. I am planning on returning as soon as I can.
Nicely greeted. Tables not too near together so reassuring.
Would like parasols over all outdoor tables so we can enjoy outdoors for as long
as possible. Would have liked one more selection for main course, and one less
creamy pudding to chose from.
I liked the design of the menu - and tying in some courses with the Japanese theme. That added to the feeling of being on holiday - relaxing happy experience.
Service was good although a bit slow to bring drinks. Wine selection fine.
Something japanese on the tables would have been nice - you could put
something that is also available to buy in the shops! - to help financing.
I liked the viola on the custard pud and took a photo but don't know how to send.
Only 3 main items on the lunch menu.
Pleasant and friendly service
No views of the Oxford Spires but lovely to sit outside on the deck and breathe fresh air.
We enjoyed our meal, although the choice was somewhat more limited than we had expected, and this was somewhat disappointing. But what we chose was delicious and well presented.
