You’ll find the ASK Italian restaurant in Marlborough about halfway along the High Street, on your left as you face away from Marlborough College. We’ve created a comfortable and friendly atmosphere, offer outside dining. Our chefs use top-quality food, flavoured with ingredients sourced from Italy, and their passion and skill shows through in every dish. Choose from risottos, pasta, pizzas, meat and fish dishes, and a selection of beers, good wines and prosecco. If you’re new to Marlborough, we recommend exploring the high street for its independent shops, and Katherine House art gallery is worth a visit too. After wandering the beautiful Fyfield Down nature reserve, or sinking the 18 holes at Marlborough Golf Club, our superb menu is going to taste all the better. Afterwards, why not catch a show at The Theatre on the Hill?

On arriving at Ask on 30th December, the staff had no record of my online booking even though I followed up with a phone call ahead of the day to confirm a high chair was required.

My friends and I found the staff unsympathetic to our predicament and made us feel like the error was our fault rather than OpenTable or Ask. Even an apology at the time would have softened our disappointment but instead the staff seemed rude and unfriendly. There was no space to accommodate us for lunch even though I had made a booking so we were forced to leave in the hope that we could find somewhere to eat. Thankfully Prezzo in Marlborough managed to find us a table and we were really impressed by the friendly and accommodating staff. A sharp contrast to our experience with the staff at Ask.

We had travelled some distance to meet in Marlborough for a birthday lunch and sadly we left Ask frustrated at the lack of friendly reception at the restaurant.

Due to this unacceptable experience, I will not be using Open Table again for any bookings and we will not be returning to Ask in Marlborough.

Restaurant called me to cancel my table couple hours before dinner, saying they no longer book through your platform, so you had cancelled. I protested, since I booked weeks in advance and argued your platform could not have "cancelled" at last minute as they pretended. They called me back and I had a table. Upon arrival, they urged me to chose and be served "immediately" in a rather hostile manner. I had to forcibly resist this bullying attitude in order to be served, well, normally. Odd manager, best avoided.
