Was very good food
Went for lunch business set menu meal. Burger was not good for the price. Gaspacho did not taste good. Service was just OK. Overall £62 for 2 for the food is not great value. The setting is very modern though.
Surprisingly nice, we really enjoyed our meal and our time there. Charming waitress and a perfect place to go just before the theatre.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff and good location.
Good Pre theatre meal
Had no idea what we were in for - booked based on OpenTable reviews and proximity to the Victoria Palace theater (Hamilton - what a show especially for a Yank watching with an audience of mostly Brits). Warmly greeted by the staff and shown to a pleasant spot. We could hear ourselves talk (!). The inventiveness of the menu caught our eye and the kitchen delivered on the pre-theater menu. Presentation was pleasing and matched by the flavors and ingredients - feel in love with samphire used in my wife's sea bass. I had the curry chicken sausage - her simply prepared fish allowed all of the ingredients to stand out on their own but in harmony. Mine was complex layers of flavor - kitchen did each equally well. The price was reasonable by London standards. If I may - Jolly good!
Friendly service and lovely setting.
Great place for lunch and delicious food.
Excellent service, friendly staff and good food. Superb location for pre theatre dining if you’re going to see Hamilton. I would thoroughly recommend Aster.
We have eaten here a few times now and as always the venue, food and service did not disappoint. Our only slight disappointment is that the DJ is extremely loud and even though we were upstairs you struggled to sometimes hear what people were saying.
Wonderful pre theatre dinner Service with a smile was excellent
We went there after a show and was very surprise by the quality of the service. Everything from the beginning was in rush as they want us to leave. We have to pour our drink, and when the main course arrive, they have to ask which one is which for our order.
Never in our experience dining in London where they have to personally ask us to leave because they are closed.
Never again to dine here.
Pre-theatre service with excellent speed and quality of food/drink. Nothing an effort for the staff. Would recommend.
Went there for an informal business lunch. I've been to Aster in different occasions due to its convenient location, good service and great menu. The ambiance of the first floor is my favourite. I tried the Haddock and the minestrone, which were excellent. The banoffee is what I usually order for desert, and one of the best desert I've ever had, actually. I hope they put the lobster back on the menu soon.
Almost perfect! It takes a while for staff to take your order but the food and the atmosphere are excellent. Definitely feels like a treat to be here. And the set menu is very reasonable.
Great all was good
Very convenient spot for a pretheatre dinner and cocktails. good value for money and well portioned dishes. Nice and light menu with nordic twist, would recommend to everyone as it is a good addition to Victoria recent restaurant scene!
That's not a first visit to Aster and I have always been a fan of their service and most importantly food. I really like the fish oriented menu, nice vibe downstairs and good cocktails in the bar.
Poor, inattentive and uncoordinated waiting staff. Food was mediocre and seating arrangements are awkward as tables are so on top of each other that one feels as if you are party to the lovers tiff at the table next door.
Excellent breakfast / brunch option in Victoria. Great service and and would definitely return.
Good food and ambience but slow service for lunch.
Only issue is on the weekend last order for lunch is 15:30. Was only told about this on the day. Would be better if this is clearly stated in the booking page
Otherwise food and ambiance amazing. I would come back every weekend!
We enjoyed visit and would go again. The food was decent, the staff excellent. It’s a good location and great building.
nice ambience, great choice of meals, including vegetarian and vegan option.
Had dinner here pre-theatre and it was wonderful. Highly recommend.
Good food and lovely decor, though there were some mix up on the food order, but it was quickly corrected. Overall would recommend the place to friends.
Wouldn’t recommend if you have dietary requirements. If gluten free - it just means you will get the bare bones of the dish that says it is a gluten free option available.
Nice staff, food average and small helpings and poor value if you take teenagers there.
We found the chef’s hair in the starter (refunded) and with 12.5% automatic service charge it’s really expensive
Not sure I would go back
A real shame for a special day.
Arrived at 3pm for their special Sunday roast on mothers day only to be told they didn’t have the beef roast (50% of the roast options) along with no bread and butter pudding (1 of the three desert options).
Having waited 45minutes for food, one roast arrived without a Yorkshire pudding, and the second arrived with only two beans as a portion of vegetables. No gravy on the beef, no condiments to go with anything let alone an ask from our waiter.
Asked for the manager who offered a Yorkshire and some vegetables as a side which only arrived once we’d finished our food.
I really want to like this place but sadly the service and very ordinary food didn’t match the lovely setting.
You should offer some breads too, and portions a little big bigger. But ambience and staff are very nice. Especially the waiter from Sardinia is very nice, kind and friendly.
The choice on the set menu was very poor and the starters on the a la carte were so tiny you could hardly see them.
Went with friends for the Sunday Roast. Food and ambiance were great. Excellent live music!
Good food, handy and fun
Imaginative small and not-so-small plates. I've been twice and enjoyed everything I've tried.
Wonderful experience in a very pleasant environment. Well sized portions, not too big not too small. Nice staff. Good value for lunch, config duck was very tender and well seasoned.
Really tasty food (we had the special Finnish menu), friendly staff and a sumptuous environment.
Dinner before theatre (Hamilton). Arrived as planned at 6pm. Service was very slow. Had to ask to order food. Starters still not arrived by 6.30 and when I asked if it could hurry along one of the waiting staff was incredibly rude and told me I should have booked a table at 5pm!
Food was good (but it took FOREVER) cocktails and bar are really nice.
It was a great place, we had good food, it was just very loud
Saturday brunch. Great ambiance, great service, and certainly great value for money. We love the Nordic imprint of the restaurant. The herring, the beetroot gnocchi and the venison burger were delicious. All 4 desserts were good!
My friends and I dined here one Friday night. It was a very pleasant place and our waiter was very helpful. The food was a little over the top but nice enough to eat - the carrot cake dessert especially is fabulous. The manager however, was different. A friend of mine had the Ribeye steak (as did two other friends). It was a little fatty. She continued to eat and didn’t think much of it. When the manager came to take the plates she commented that the steak was a little fatty. She didn’t request money off or freebies she just wanted to let him know. His response shocked us all, “what do you want me to do about it?” With a tone that was rather condescending. When our waiter returned we informed him of what the manager had said and he was very apologetic. He really put us off the rest of the meal. The same manager came to take our dessert orders and although he tried to be jovial it was too late. Therefore, as a summery, the food was nice and the actual wait staff are fab. But if your are approached by the managers beware the tone.
