Food was not bad but the main course was really quite small. Service varied from friendly and swift to very slow. Turkey Ballotine came with 3 sprouts and a couple of mini sausages.

The waiters have very little knowledge of the menu but display a good attitude towards serving nonetheless. The food is very average but the restaurant's interior design is quite nice . My take is that the place could / should be much better but isn't because management is lacking :-s

Great restaurant that shines in the heart of Victoria, which is an area full of places to eat. Classy decor, simple and confident menu. Sommelier expertise, reasonably priced, will most certainly be back. The nordic touches of rye bread, pickled goodies and simplicity are matched with hearty British game fare.

We were staying in the neighborhood and tried Aster on a whim. The physical space is very nice, with tables on a couple of levels and a good amount of bar seating. Food was delicious with an intentionally limited menu, but everything prepared and presented extremely well. Service was exceptional. Highly recommended.

Had a birthday dinner here for my daughter, post matinee theatre.

First impressions were good . Decent cocktails at the bar then escorted to our table. Ok location but a noticeable draught every time someone entered or left the restaurant. As it was a chilly night this became more noticeable as the evening went on.

Service was very slow and whilst there were several other covers running i wouldn’t describe it as busy. Eventually we got to order food.

The burger comes without fries we were told. When it arrived, with the additionally purchased fries, it was the most naked burger I’ve ever seen. Literally a burger in a bun with a piece of lettuce on the plate. If I had known I’d have asked for a takeaway from the nearby shake shack.

The other mains were ok and I understand halibut is expensive but the portion control could have allowed more than two mouthfuls. Sides were good especially the truffle potatoes but our red cabbage was forgotten and came almost as I finished my main.

Wine list decent but generously marked up. We skipped desserts as dinner to this point had taken 2 hours .

Taste wise food is good but value and service need to be looked at before I revisit here.

The decor is lovely but for Sunday brunch the atmosphere is dead, sadly. The brunch menu is hugely overpriced and limited, and the food quality has gone down a lot since it first opened. What was once one of the best eggs Benedicts I’ve ever had is now a mediocre option, priced at £11 for one egg - and the bacon crumbs that made it so good before were dissolved and soggy in the sauce instead of on top! Will not be returning sadly, too much good competition near by.

Our server Wissam was absolutely fantastic and turned our brunch into a real experience. He made sure we were happy at all times, was quick to respond to every request, and genuinely made us feel like we were the only guests at the restaurant. Besides this, the food was outstanding!
We're already planning out next trip back!

Really good pre-theatre meal at Aster early Saturday evening. We had a window table on the first floor, service was prompt and friendly, food very good (the starters, Aster Cured Salmon and the Pork Roll, were especially good). Food of this quality in central London is usually a lot more expensive, so it was very good value.
It is a very noisy venue, although this was not a problem for us. Music was annoying, though - same beats over and over.

Felt very busy for the amount of staff... took ages to get served initially but then once the first order was taken the staff were more attentive. The mains were very good but the deserts were quite poor... style over substance. It's not a bad restaurant but the prices cost higher than the value it delivers.

Booked for a pre-theatre dinner, booked the pre-theatre meal. Staff aware. Arrived in plenty of time. Lovely restaurant and lovely food but service absolutely awful, had 12 minutes to eat a main-course before running for the theatre (next door). I imagine it could have been a lovely meal and experience, a shame it was ruined by awful, incompetent, inexperienced staff serving us.

I ate here because I was meeting a client for breakfast. It is a welcome addition to the Victoria area. Until Aster opened the only other option for breakfasts was M:Grill which is, frankly, a well-decorated, but dark cellar with unhappy staff moping around like the drudges of a vampire.

Aster was busy, the atmosphere was great for breakfast, it's location is brilliant, and the decor is bright, fresh and has a seasonal feel. The service was kind of all over the place though, our coffee was delivered to our table without milk and the waiter rushed off so quickly that I had to get up, chase him and ask for some milk only after I could catch him at the other end of the restaurant. Also, the head waiter gave one of her team a dressing down in the middle of the restaurant. Whether it was deserved or not, I really don't care, it is more the fact that I get told off at work all the time (because I spend too much time writing restaurant reviews) so I don't really want to pay to see it happen to someone else.

Listen though, Victoria has very little in the way of decent breakfast restaurants where you can take a client and so, I think that Aster, if it just polishes it's service a little bit could really a place I would recommend highly and go back to again and again.

Unfortunately our meal at Aster was not very good and we would not dine there again. While the restaurant has spent considerable effort and money on an amazing decor and ambiance, they have neglected the food. There was nothing to stand out on the menu, and the food itself was average at best. Even the chips were clearly standard mass produced frozen chips. For a restaurant of this quality and price you would expect homemade chips. The ceviche was not a real ceviche, but more a sashimi or raw fish and some sauce. And the steak was far too overcooked with poor presentation. The service was friendly enough and the cocktail/wine list was sufficient. Overall the restaurant gave an impression its food couldn't live up to.

It was a shame because husband and I were there for a date night to treat ourselves, but left feeling that we would have had a far tastier meal at one of the cheaper burger or pizza restaurants around the corner. We definitely will not be returning and would not recommend Aster to anyone.
