Why did I give Aster a second chance? Because it offered post theatre/cinema set menu. Arrived at the booked time and kept waiting for table but very pleasantly served by maitre d’/reception guy.

At the table - despite booking the fixed price theatre menu we are presented with only the main menu and drinks menu! This always annoys me - either it indicates s lack of care and communication between booking and serving staff or, more cynically, an attempt by the restaurant to force you to use the other menu.

There is a plethora of staff but we had to wait and then signal two different people to order. Staff were nice and professional but the food was uninspiring and disappointing. The wine by the glass options are however very good.

This is certainly the best fine-dining, affordable dinner I have had in London.
Everything from amuse bouches to desserts is delicate and refined, well-balanced, and very tasty.
For starters, do not miss the scallops. For mains, everything was perfection. We ordered the lobster, the duck breast, and the fish. Desserts (chocolate tart, banana ice-cream with a twist, and praline) were brilliant. I like the decor very much.

Everything here works. The food was tasty and just the right quantity (we each had the Pre show 3 course set meal plus 1 side). The music was pleasant yet I could comfortably hear my friends. The seats were comfortable, the lighting and decor nice, and the toilets clean. The staff were lovely and we all felt comfortable regardless of our differing fashion styles. Very enjoyable evening at a reasonable price for such a central location.

Service was slow to begin with but improved over the course of the meal. I was bought the wrong starter to the one I ordered but it was swiftly rectified. Set menu is good value although if you wanted a side dish of potatoes with it this costs £4.50. Food was very good

Great kids menu and very generous. Adults not quite as lucky with overcooked duck and fridge cold beetroot. Just a little hit and miss although the room and service were good. I would give it another go for sure.

Absolutely loved my experience at Aster. Came for bottomless brunch and was so impressed. I've had plenty of Eggs Royale in my time but Aster's was by far the best. Good value, great location near Victoria station but not noisy or too busy. A gem!

I was with my daughter for dinner and it was very cold. Theyoffered us hot chocolate on arrival, it was just fab! i need to say it was one of the best i had in long time. We chose set menu, service was very good efficent and very helpful. My daughter had duck and ate fish pie, everything was very season. Nic touch, good value and awesome cocktails.

Aster has a relaxed atmosphere and the service and food have been excellent both times that I have lunched here. Whether you want a full lunch or just a coffee the staff are helpful, quick and friendly. Modern, but welcoming decor, plenty of space and not too noisy, so good for meeting friends as well as for business. The location is very convenient and easy to find - just across from Victoria Station

Main waitress was lovely (secondary waitress wasn't), overall though, let down by plates cold, two courses came at the same time and turned away only to return from being kept warm (i.e. not fresh and hot), 1 extra egg for £4!! What are they thinking??
I have eaten here a few times and historically it has always been very good

The menu has changed and the previous Scandi lunch menu was far more exciting than the main stream a la carte menu they now offer. Tried the Nordic salad which was loads of iceberg lettuce with dressing and some prawns and salmon. Can’t say it was impressive. The room is nice and the service is perfectly ok but it lacked something.

Food was lovely but the service was terrible. Our waiter didn’t know anything when we asked about the menu, we asked which gin he would recommend, he shrugged his shoulders and said “I don’t know”, then he brought aquavit instead of gin. Lastly, the management wouldn’t honour the code we had from 1Rebel as they said we had to say when we booked. (1Rebel say you just have to mention it when there). So mixed reviews but probably will go back as the food was delicious.

Downstairs very noisy especially but fortunately the noise did not intrude too much upstairs in the restaurant. Service was good, some of servings were rather small for the price so not great value even with the ES pre-theatre deal. But surroundings nice and it is very well located.

Poor and slow service with a main dish missing from the set menu with no replacement offered. We were not told about the missing item when given the menu and as this dish accounted for a quarter of the mains available it made options incredibly limited. We finally arranged to have a swap from the main menu however this was quite a task and given begrudgingly. We have eaten at this restaurant many times before and have always been impressed however we were disappointed on this occasion. Slow service also meant that there was no time to have desert where we had arranged for a birthday surprise (we were off to the theatre after the meal).

We were welcomed well and seated shortly after arrival
Given a festive menu not a great deal of choice especially as we were told one main course salmon was sold out
We placed our order then the waiter returned to say they had no steak tartare which had been ordered
We ordered a duck terrine instead but then he cane back and that was no longer available another member of our party of 4 had got the last one
We got the starters and then the mains again another dish was also sold out ! The food was good but small portions we ordered 2 extra bowls of chips! My daughter ordered flat iron steak medium rare it was very rare and she wouldn’t let me send it back but when the waitress cleared the only half eaten plate she asked if it was ok and I pointed out it was very under cooked
No apology yet again of the limited choices one wasn’t available when it came to desserts so we shares 2 cheeses but waiter knew where they had come from when we asked but not the names

When the bill came and I checked it I was not impressed to have been charged for the non available steak tartare!!
We pointed it out and got another bill minus the tartare but no big apology for their error
All in all a quite expensive meal for what it was with disappointing lack of choice/availability - trying to be a *restaurant but not quite getting there

The food was terrible. We’ve eaten at several D&D group restaurants and have always been happy with the food. The fish pie was so runny and salty - the served it with a soup spoon. The beetroot and goats cheese salad was absolutely tiny with four over boiled, bland beetroot and 5 hazel nuts. Even the crudités were appalling with slimy, spoiled cucumber and less than a table spoon of white “green goddess” dip - sour cream with some chives snipped into it. Such a shame because the wine selection and ambience was great. I do not recommend this restaurant at all.
