My friend and I had an early 2 course meal prior to going to a concert. We indicated to the staff that we needed to leave by a certain time and everything was served efficiently allowing us to do so. The food and service were very good but the drinks seemed a little expensive (although they were clearly priced on the wine list). Overall we had a lovely time and I would recommend the restaurant to other friends.
Service was excellent from start to finish - just enough, not too much. Food was very good. Desserts were particularly popular. Great place for a get-together.
Got order mixed up!
Good food and service
Horrible service and sooo slow. Was a struggle to get the menus, the waited soo much for food, incredibly slow and incompetent waiters
Not a great experience - average food and very disappointing service. So slow, should not have to wait 20 minutes for a coffee. Had to chase where food / drinks were all the time. The service team did however realise the below average experience and tried to redeem themselves with giving us a glass of prosecco each. But I will not be returning. Also for anyone gluten free, they do not have a gluten bread option.
Chicken Caesar is not a chicken breast and just a pile of lettuce
I have wanted to come to Aubaine for a while. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. My chicken tasted of old cooking oil and I felt £98 for lunch for 2 people was very expensive. I will say that the courgette crisps and chocolate eclair were delicious.
We ate at Aubaine on the hottest night of the year. All the windows were open but there was no air conditioning. The staff were young and somewhat inexperienced but very willing - they didn't know for example that you could have a white wine spritzer with soda, or failing that with fizzy water. The food was tasty and served with speed.
Hi there, Thanks for sharing your experience dining at Aubaine! We’re so glad you enjoyed your time with us and are grateful for your feedback. See you again soon
Great food and great service. Food was also super quick to arrive
Average food in a nice location. Starter was better than expected and main was as expected. There are better set price menu's with better food for the price charged but overall ok.
The meringue used for the desert was very hard and not palatable but the ice cream was nice. Drinks are overpriced for such an average restaurant but being on high st kensington is probably the reason why.
Service was slow and variable, we had four different people attend to us and their attention not easy to get, even though the place wasn’t especially busy. Fried courgette starter minuscule but still £6. Disagreeable up-selling of over-priced side dishes: if a main dish needs veg to balance it, serve it with veg: in fact the lemon sole (a tad over-cooked) had a little samphire with it and needed nothing else, so in that case the up-selling was just cheeky! It was a hot day, a jug of water and tumblers should have been brought to the table as we sat down, not left to be asked for and then slow to turn up. Rainbow panna cotta lacked flavour, and the strong colouring was probably the cause of a slight nasty aftertaste: left unfinished. I’ve been to Aubaine in Marylebone a few times, better food, more professional service even when extremely busy.
Other diners were talking at normal level but the room didn’t absorb sound, so it was difficult to hear our own conversation.
Smoke from smokers at outdoor tables drifted in through open windows, an unpleasant throwback to the bad old days. Aircon needed or positive internal air pressure.
I booked this restaurant for my son’s 10th birthday. Unfortunately, out friends could not make it as they child got ill and I stopped by the restaurant as a courtesy to them know that we would be a smaller party and to change the reservation for a latter time.
They were out of the camembert appetizer. I order the goat cheese. Asked for some toast or bread which never came but it was charged on the bill. I was so eager to get out of that place that I did not even want to argue.
The staff was not friendly at all. They all seemed in a rush to get out of work.
Mediocre food. Bad service. Do not go there.
Yes for food and ambiance
No for too loo muzak and the fact that a charity donation is added to the bill. Also 12.5% service charge is unacceptable in this day and age.
I am told both are discretionary in which case it is criminal to add them to the bill.
Tired and slow service, a lot of food on the menus ‘sold-out’ very very noisy, and rather pricey for just a standard Brassiere...
We shared small plates and they were all delicious. Highly recommend the Calamars Frits. My daughter loved the Beef Carpaccio. We went pre-Royal Albert Hall and at 5.30pm the restaurant was quiet. The service is good and the price what you would expect in Central London. Fantastic champagne by the glass! For a special treat it is the perfect place to go.
Lovely place, really enjoyed our meal. We were rushing to get to the Theatre and the waiter made sure we got our meal really quickly so we could leave on time. Delicious food in a calm and pretty environment and a great location. Would recommend.
Great service from very professional staff. Food was nice but probably not really good value for money.
Nice restaurant and good service but I was disappointed by the food.. A goat cheese salade with a cold toast, a lot of salade compared to the other ingredients (almost invisible). The chicken croquettes, which are not croquettes but super dry nuggets. Otherwise, good avocado toast
Very over priced for what they offer, the food was ok but below average quality and small portions. Two staff came to check on us every few minutes as they didn't seem to know the other was talking to us. The bathroom facilities were in a shocking condition and when we spoke to the manager about this we got a "sorry" and a bit of a shrug. Overall a poor experience that cost far too much for what they offer
Its lovely in there. So well decorated. The ambience is nice and I had a lovely time with my friend. The staff are all super pleasant. Will go for brunch again.
The restaurant was beautifully decorated and lit. The service was fine though not great. Our waiter was polite and pleasant but did not seem to make genuine efforts to ensure we enjoyed our meals... Which we did not. The food was mediocre. None of us enjoyed our dishes. The steak was dry without the sauce - which I said I could have, despite being lactose intolerant (it was made with butter, which for some reason my body can tolerate). The fries were good though quite salty. The salads were a bit overwhelming with the pâté. The spinach that came with the fish was overcooked.
The cocktails were watered down. There was way too much ice in them. The flavours did not compliment each other - the drinks were either very alcoholic tasting (so overwhelming for half of my group) or too subtle and like water (even though visually, the cocktails were quite pretty).
The set menu is a good deal - £17 for two courses, or £21 for three - but given the food and cocktails were not delicious, I would recommend going elsewhere.
Delightful food, plus friendly staff who were very accommodating to guests with children. (High chairs available!)
Qood quality food and service, very nice and friendly staff
We used one of the offers posted on Open Table and had a really delicious meal!
Food was good but really slow service and very poor grumpy service and the restaurant wasn't busy. Given this is a lovely restaurant with good food poorly trained sullen staff really ruin the experience, it strikes me as somewhere that the staff are poorly motivated and that usually comes from above...
Lovely place, If I could only raise one complaint is that it felt very cold inside on a winters’ night. But good value for money!
Having been to a different branch before; I was expecting good food and service but was disappointed. I booked a table for my birthday at 12, at 12.30 we were told they had no French toast as they’d ran out (an all day breakfast dish). The group ordered different dishes and 4 arrived with cold poached eggs. These had to be sent back. My meal of avacado on toast came with an entire watercress plant on top which smelt like a pond, I ate 1/4 of the dish including having a couple of other people try it. I informed the waitress who spoke with the manager, I was told it was half eaten and this is how it comes. I was left without a meal. They then proceeded to charge me for this dish which I had to contest.
We left extremely disappointed and would not return.
I’m a bit disappointed. Booked and asked for a table aside and got table in the middle of the restaurant, even though place was empty and there was plenty of nicer tables. People (waiters) constantly passing by, couldn’t talk properly.
Good food, but not many guests! Not the best restaurant in Kensington!
Mainly went for the prix-fixe deal. It was great value for money - good quality food, portion size and decent wine.
Breakfast was delicious although small portions. Service was non existent-no water was offered, waiter looked and behaved like he didn’t want to wait on us took 20 mins to get the bill. Maybe other branches will be better.
Food was ok. Wasn't blown away by it. The atmosphere was nice, and nice location.
Overall it was very good but very quiet .The Service was excellent .
Got starter wrong, so one person had to wait 30 mins for hers to arrive. no apology. food was good, but wont be rushing back
Great food and service
Lunch meeting close to the office, good location and service was excellent. Not too crowded and noisy so I could have a business meeting. Food was tasty and will try one of the salads next time.
Fabulous attentive service, brilliant staff - a credit to the restaurant! Food was sublime, all three courses! Fabulous wine selection. Would recommend over and over again!
Not great overall – the service was very slow, then once we had managed to order food it arrived at various different times and various levels of hot-ness. We also had to wait until after our mains had arrived to order drinks, then after a considerable wait were informed there were ingredients lacking for one of the drinks. While the manager took a small amount off our bill, I would still not recommend this restaurant to a friend.
