This time it was too noisy with a party going on upstairs
Have given 4 stars mainly for location, ambience, decor and service. Think this place is more used to social lunches than business ones - even though I had ticked "business meal" on the booking it made no difference to the pace of the service, which was undoubtedly charming and friendly, just slow. We weren't offered drinks when we sat down (warm day! thirsty!) and had to call someone over after 5 mins. A big plus for their noticing the note on the reservation that I wanted the booking in my business surname (different from my OP account one) - I find a hit rate of 50-50 when I request this via the OT booking. We all ended up by choosing from the set menu and had different mains each so a representative spread; we all agree our dishes were "OK" but nothing to write home about. Still, £90 inc service for 3 people inc starters, mains and non-alcoholic drinks pretty good. I think I'd return for casual, but not for anything where I needed the food to impress. Lovely staff though.
We were rather disappointed in the quality of the food - especially for the price. I had the lamb and it was very tough, and my friend had the chicken salad and it was very dry. I have been here before and really liked it so hopefully just a blip.
Aubaine Burger was excellent as were the Lobster Brioche. Friendly and helpful staff.
Great food and service - will definitely be coming back!
Good service and nice atmosphere, lunch was tasty and food is fresh. I will be there again soon.
The front of house staff are lovely. It’s the chef who wants shooting. The risotto was utterly tasteless and the head waiter agreed after trying it. Switched to a hangar steak which was so tough I couldn’t eat it. The drinks and puddings were lovely. They didn’t charge me for a main but I was still left with a bill for 70 quid. Very naughty!!!
We stumbled across the Aubaine a couple of years ago. Staying in the area again we had absolutely no hesitation on booking. It certainly did not disappoint; food was fantastic, service superb. It’s in such a vibrant area of London which many tourists don’t appreciate.
Can't go wrong at Aubaine - great menu selection, lovely service. Why oh why cant they create tables for more than 2 people outside - its a killer!
I was disappointed with Aubaine today. I have walked past this nice looking restaurant many times and was looking forward to an early dinner with an old friend.
I arrived at 6pm, the sun was shining brightly and the restaurant was largely empty. I was surprised to be shown to a seat tucked away in a dark corner with limited natural light. The manager perhaps noticed we were a bit irritated so came back to say the nicer tables in the window areas were booked but if the people didn’t come then we could sit there. Too late. I don’t want to have to get up and change tables as some unknown time in the future. I just want to settle down and talk to my friend. The damage was done and we were sat in the naughty corner. We had so many restaurant options to choose from so this was a shame
Once irritated in a restaurant its hard to shake that off. The staff were friendly enough but cleared my friend’s starter away while i was still eating mine which i was surprised at. Perhaps they want to hurry us out. We had the summer set menu with strawberry salad and a crispy ham and bean salad. Nice but very small. Then we both had mackerel on greens for main and strawberry tarte for dessert. The small portions meant we went for 3 courses rather than 2, which I guess was the plan.
We had a g&t to start and tap water to drink during dinner, wrapping up with tea.
The bill was £75 for 2 which I suppose is ok.
But as we left at 745pm I noticed one of those lovely tables in the sunshine was still available and I just wondered what could have been ...
Going back there tonight
Excellent food and service
Really liked this place. Good to menu, excellent coffee, nicely atmosphere.
Not such a good standard as the Aubaine in Selfridges. The food was not such a good standard and the service was not quite as professional but it was still ok for what we wanted.
This place is perfect for brunches, located in a cute corner of the high street, its simply a wonderful place to come to have a lovely cup of tea and watch passersby. The French Toast is simply to die for and its something you must definitely try.
Aubaine was... okay. That's the best I can say. Reasonable. There are better options, and there are worse, and I'm not disappointed but neither am I impressed.
I have often dropped by this restaurant for a quick drink with my wife and recently admired the look of the food that was being served so decided to give it a try and have to say wasn't disappointed, all four meals served to myself and guests were greatly appreciated and everyone commented on how much they enjoyed the food and the evening.
Very pleasant. We did ask for a round table for 6 which they didn’t have. They did their best to concoct something suitable but it might be a good idea to have round tables for 6. It makes inclusive conversation much easier.
Really lovely staff, extremely friendly . My friend had her two babies with her and the staff made us feel very welcome. The food was lovely and service good.
What a lovely group of waiters and waitresses. Service is spot on and attentive. I feel the food despite being flavourful lacked quality. My mussels were luke warm and my cod was similar. I actually had a very bad tummy upset that evening and I feel this may have been the food (as I hadn't had anything else to eat that day). Perhaps food should be served hot? Lovely service and lovely touch from the restaurant to give us prosecco to celebrate my friends birthday. thank you for the gesture
Branch in Aubaine Marylebone was fantastic!! Food was outstanding. Staff was extremely helpful and make the experience even better. Definitely planning to comeback soon.
The venue was fine and central enough. Clean and tidy. The food average at best. When I complained that my Wagyu Burger was over done it fell on deaf ears. The wine list was overpriced and the Malbec was dreadful. With so many other good restaurants close by this would be one to miss!
Our waitress was friendly and very helpful and provided excellent service. The food was great and good value.
I made a reservation for 21:30, which was accepted and when I got there, the restaurant was closed.
Nice and central place for a late sunday breakfast with friendly service!
Very good French restaurant/cafe in the heart of Marylebone. We often come for breakfast or brunch and Aubaine never disappoints. Well prepared quality dishes. Friendly service.
After previous visits, I recommended Aubaine when we were meeting old friends. It did not disappoint - it never does!
Staff not particularly observant or helpful, but food is fine if not looking for gourmet. Beware the very tight loos!
Aubaine is absolutely a must try! This in particular is one of my favorite location and Maria was absolutely the plus of the location. Well done!
Good selection of dishes from the a la carte menu, and the baked Camembert was very good. Friendly and attentive staff. However we were the only people in the restaurant occupying a table for dinner until later when another couple arrived. The staff say they are generally very quiet on Sunday nights, while very busy on other days. There were a lot of orders for take away dishes using Deliveroo.
My husband and I ordered brunch. It took over 30 minutes to arrive and when it did, my husbands meal was raw.
quick service, lovely food. Would definitely go again.
A reduced menu with offer, but something for everyone. Friendly professional staff and good food. A great place for lunch
Had an amazing time at Aubaine Marylebone - for my Uncle’s birthday. The food was absolutely fantastic and the service was great! Not to mention the amazing value for the prix fixe menu. We will certainly be visiting here again. Thanks for an amazing time!
Good value st lunchtime in airy light atmosphere. Good service - conveniently placed for shopping!
Everything was great except it was pretty cold inside the restaurant. There was a wind storm which kept slamming the side service door against the wall as it wasn’t locked (it should’ve been) which also made us jump thinking it would crash the window next to us.
If it had been warmer, I think we would’ve overlooked the incidents with the door.
The food was good and the staff very kind. They also kept checking on how the food was which was a nice touch. I had eggs royale and they were delish
In spite of having both made a reservation and it having been confirmed when my friend arrived she was told there wasn't a reservation in my name.
She had chicken which she described as being like leather. I had spaghetti with lobster. This consisted of 2 very small pieces of lobster, a few scattered cherry tomatoes and the spaghetti sauce was essentially seafood bisque. At £29 it was outrageously overpriced.
Great selection of starters . we had 3 different ones to share between 2 of us. They were great but probably ordered too much as we started to feel quite full when the Main dish arrived.
Restaurant was quiet and sedate but a reasonable ambience and good service. I would go again.
Food was great, was very quiet in there as it was early.
I would recommend it to most.
The Veganuary menu was ok but not as good as the normal menu - dishes were either too salty or lacking in flavour and it was hard to get the attention of staff.
