What Insiders Are Saying
Aviary is one of London's best rooftop bars, with a huge terrace and excellent views of the City.
Good for dinner, tasty food and reasonably prized. Service sometimes a little too ambitious but friendly and attentive.
This place is perfect for dinner with a nice scenery. It was a nice atmosphere and the service was lovely. The waitress was friendly and suggested many recommendations for cocktails. One only critic was the burger I had didn’t have the option to come pink and had to be well done.
Great view and great food. Easier to talk when at a table.
Food - Amazing. One of the best meals I've had.
Service - Really kind and knew all about the food and whine and was glad to answer any questions.
The only thing I reacted to was when we were about to pay.
It was me (woman) and my male friend who had dinner together.
It was me who booked the table, and I also wrote in the booking that it was a birthday dinner for the guy.
During the dinner when my friend was asked if he wanted another drink, he looked at me and asked "if it's ok?" (I mean, the waiter could see that he asked me).
When we were ready to pay, (I) asked the server for the bill. And before he went away (I) also asked if they take cash.
And still, when the waiter came back with the bill, he put it straight down on the other side of the table, right in front of my guy friend, when it was me who was gonna pay it all.
Not that anything should make the waiter assume wich one in the company will pay. But if he now wanted to assume that one of us is paying it all, there was NOTHING telling that it was on the guy. Except that he's a guy and I'm a woman.
I've worked as a waitress myself and think there's nothing more right to always put the bill in the middle. You have no reason to assume which one is gonna pay.
To put the bill in front of the man with no reason is just nothing more than pure sexism.
Beside that, the we had an amazing evening.
Lovely staff , delicious food , awesome drinks , amazing atmosphere. Will definitely go back .
Too noisy for what is supposed to be a fine dining restaurant. Food not that great at all especially for the price.
Great location and stunning views backed up by excellent service. The food was good but had some questionable additions like charred lettuce which I found to be inedible. The lamb I had was excellent but so rare as to be raw near the bone of the cutlets. Very good wine list.
A great place to eat with amazing views over the City. The restaurant is adjacent to the bar which was very busy and noisy at the time.
Be careful which bottle if Tattinger you order , as they bring out the most expensive one when one has ordered the £76.00 bottle. Gammon had far too much salt on it so I'd recommened ordering food without added salt. Atmosphere us superb but service very slow. Took over 30 mins to order champagne after we were seated! Manager was very professional and ensured we ended up enjoying our evening.
He made up for the Long wait and made sure my friend had an alternative delicious meal after the gammon disaster. As I've been before I will continue to return as the venue is outstanding.
Had a continental breakfast the morning after our stay in Montcalm Royal London House. A nice relaxed vibe with a beautiful view.
Visited the Avairy for my Husbands Birthday lunch. The view is absolutely amazing! "I love the relaxed feel of this place". I definitely would return to try more dishes. The Service was well-timed and friendly and the drinks menu is affordable." Would definitely recommend.
Our server Simone was amazing, made the mother’s day experience extra special!! The food was great and all the staff we lovely! Thankyou Simone
Overpriced but I guess that is a location. Service was good, attentive. Food ok but nothing special.
Unfortunately the service was very poor, we were there 2 hours and 15 minutes and only had one course within that time. Two mains were partially brought out and we waited 10 min for the rest to arrive by which time it was cold. They were very good and took them all back and replaced them. We then waited 20/25 minutes for our dessert order to be taken and then another 20 minutes later and they still hadn’t arrived and we had to cancel them as we had to leave. Very disappointing in all for what should have been a nice treat for mum.
We spent mothers day here and we had a very enjoyable day, the food was excellent, the chef did forget to add our Yorkshire Puddings to our Roast dinner, however the staff were very apologetic and kindly offered us desserts on the house which was a really nice touch. I would definitely recommend the Aviary to anyone and will no doubt be back again in the future.
Wonderful Food and service with special surprises for Mother’s Day .
Just happen to mention it was my daughters birthday and they surprised her with a plate of chocolate and a candle.
Great cocktail menu!
Friendly staff will def go back
Roast beef was magnificent
Everyone enjoyed their meals including vegan options
A very popular venue with great views of the city. Food was fantastic, service was friendly and knowledgeable. 12.5% service charge was added which is becoming standard but I personally believe it should be for the customer to decide how well a restaurant does NOT the restaurant! Point off for that! Well worth a visit if you are in that part of London.
The food was beautiful. loved the decor and fabulous views on the blacong after dinner!
View fabulous , service perfect, discret and efficient, food delicious, ambiance great . Always a incredible moment.
Lovely place. Great roof terrace. Food very good. Service could be better
Best dinner date ever. The food was perfect the risotto absolutely spot on while the apps, the fritters specifically, blew my mind.
It’s a nice restaurant , food is promising . It’s better to get the Window seat as the view is better and you don’t get disturbed by serving staff . All in all it’s was good
The food used to be much better. Unfortunately the food quality deteriorated as the meat was served burnt & the quality was very chewy beef, although it was on a special menu. We are not sure we will go back there again.
Family get together for birthday. Friendly & welcoming staff that were always attentive
This is a great restaurant but sometimes let down by its service when things get busy. If visiting regularly, the menu can become a bit repetitive so seasonal menu's would help keep things fresh for repeat customers.
Great food, frenzy and professional service and amazing views. Definitely visit again
The meal wa Luke warm he then offered us a drink which we said yes to. Still charged me for the meal.
Great food and nice surroundings but the service was slow for a business lunch.
It was a very good experience, I was there for an anniversary and they brought us some champagne for the occasion, the service was very fast and friendly, the view is one of my favorite, not too high but high enough to see all the skyscrapers!
I will come back to Aviary for sure.
(If I have to find a bad spot, the final price)
Been several times, always an enjoyable experience. Great food, reasonably priced and awesome service. They even gave us champagne and chocolates because we were celebrating my sister’s engagement.
Lovely service and amazing welcome! Would definitely come back. Food was quick and enjoyable! Prices ok for view, service and quality of facilities in restaurant. We’re lovely to us even with baby in tow! Loved it 😍
Food was not worth the price. Nice atmosphere and view.
We decided to have lunch at Aviary because the views looked really good. That should have been a warning! We were seated and the waiter brought the menus and asked if we wanted water, which we did. He brought the water immediately and asked if we were ready to order our food - which we weren't as we'd only had the menus for a couple of minutes. We ordered 2 glasses of champagne. We selected our food and ordered one of the only 2 bottles of white wine at much under £40 and were told there wasn't any left. We were considering which, if any, of the other wines we wanted when the waiter returned and said they'd found a bottle of what we wanted. Weird - but OK. The starters (beef tartare and salmon tartare) arrived and they were nicely presented but uninspiring. As soon as we'd finished the starters, the mains arrived. The waiter with the mains was stood behind the waiter clearing our starters, waiting! My fish cake was fine. My wife's burger was cooked to within an inch of its life and consequently as dry as old bones. And despite her asking for no cheese, it came with cheese. We didn't bother with desserts. All in all, not terrible but very disappointing. Bog standard food at not far short of fine dining prices. By all means go there for the views - and I bet the roof bar is a great place to be on a summer evening - but don't go there for the food or service.
I wasn’t impressed by the level of service and the food was not well presented. Order missed etc. Ambience was great, good view. 2 out of 10 overall.
Lovely dining experience. The food was good, as was the customer service. and the atmosphere. The food prices were as we would expect but the drinks were overpriced. That came as a bit of a surprise/shock when the bill arrived!
Came for a breakfast meeting - good food options, lovely views, and excellent service.
Lovely venue and the food waa fab but a bit too noisy for a catch up with mates. Especially if they are in their 50s haha.
Great food and customer service. Definitely coming back for summer and enjoy the terrace!
The atmosphere was amazing, and the wait staff were very accommodating. The food was excellent! Would highly recommend.
