What Insiders Are Saying
Aviary is one of London's best rooftop bars, with a huge terrace and excellent views of the City.
Outstanding food, outstanding service, will definitely revisit in the future. We were here for our daughters 18th the staff were attentive and we were given a complimentary dessert. A great meal in a great environment. The outside bar has amazing views.
Lovely food and a great fun environment.
Not being from
London and not used to London prices for a vodka and coke was a shock over £12.
Frighteningly average experience at the Avery - the room is beautiful as are the views but the food was poor and in no way justified the price.
Steak tartare starter was tiny, poorly seasoned and accompanied by nothing more than a few potato crisps. My sea bass main was dry despite sitting in bland sauce drenched vegetables and the battered within an inch of its life squid which were sprinkled around the fish was almost inedible. My guest’s chicken was also incredibly dry, I suspect due to the fact that it sat under heat lamps waiting to be served, arriving a full half an hour after our starters.
The views are amazing the service warm and attentive but if the chef doesn’t up their game then I will not be back.
Second time I've been here and cannot rate it high enough. Service is impeccable and very friendly. Food is outstanding and the views are great too. Prices are also really good considering the quality you are receiving. Will be back again!
Food was really nice, service a bit slow
This is a gem of a restaurant at the top of the Montcalm hotel. Lovely rooftop bar, and nice cosy restaurant inside. Interesting menu and great service.
Always a big fan. We've dined in Aviary a few times this year and we have always been well received. The staff seem to remember us too which very welcoming. We chose to taste their special mackerel and the skate: gorgeous! The mackerel was only torched on the outside, it was a little unusual but very tasty. The skate was also great with the grilled courgettes. As usual, service was excellent and very personal. Thanks to the Team, you're the reason we keep coming back.
I have been here twice and both experiences were excellent. They are very attentive, open to suggestions about the dishes and the view is amazing.
Went on 8 September 2018 to celebrate 3 birthdays.
Good choice on the Menu and food was very good. View of London also outstanding. The staff were also very helpful and efficient. The only downside - was perhaps that the bar was very close to where we were sitting and the noise level was quite loud (Saturday night ) - and people do seem to shout !
Having said that, we enjoyed ourselves.
Food was great and view is lovely. Only downside is that th terrace closed very early. We planned to eat and then have drinks on the terrace but when we finished our dinner. It had shut! Very frustrating.
Fab evening! Lovely food! Amazing views and staff are attentive.
What a brilliant vibe bar, terrace and restaurant with spectacular views. The Friday night DJ was creating a super chilled happy it's Friday night feeling and the service was wonderful.
It's not especially great food but it's not bad and more than compensated by spending time in this super space. Definitely going back.
Great lunch with friends the service was excellent as was the food
This was a business lunch so we had time constraints and only ordered one course. This took an eternity to arrive and we had to chase 3 times. When the food came it was good but the wait ruined our enjoyment and as we were on a tight agenda caused problems
Amazing food and amazing service. Staff were lovely and helped when ordering, all around the best restaurant I have been too
Rooftop bar for pre-dinner drinks, followed by a meal in the restaurant. The bar was busy, a couple of private events going on. The restaurant was great, and although busy the service was excellent. Had Flatbreads and Duck Coquettes to start, which we all loved. Mains of lamb rump, hanger steak, and cod. Lamb rump seemed to win out, with all of us thinking we’d have it again. All were cooked beautifully, and were incredibly tender and tasty. Our server, Kim, looked after us incredibly well, and although there were only two of us having dessert, a ‘taster’ was brought out for my wife, so she didn’t feel left out. We had a great night, and plan to go back when we next visit London.
Great food, great location, great service! Not a lot more to add really
I do not believe the restaurant should hold the status of refined and high quality restaurant. The place is quite noisy, people extremely superficial in a kind of business city atmosphere more suited for business dinner than a good and romantic place where to sit and appreciate food. I don't believe the food value is worth the price given what you can get in a real gastronomic restaurant. Fish was overcooked by the chef. Drinks are overpriced
Positive point: Waiter was kind and nice, the view from the terrace is enjoyable
Perfect rooftop in the city - cocktails were great and views spectacular
The burger was excellent, but the steak was cold and too thick.
The waiter was verry attentive
The ambience was very nice
There were a few plates on the menu nit available
The tables are a bit in the middle of the hallway so there is people coming and going the whole time
Came for our 25th Wedding Anniversary.venue was very busy and noisy.made the meal not very romantic.ordered fish and no fish knives available.portions small
Perfect lunch for a birthday. Food was great, staff were amazing and the view from the Terrace is spectacular. Highly recommended.
Wasnt very impressed - very slow food delivery - 90 minutes for main courses.
Service was slow - not very attentive
Great food, worth the price and really lovely staff who catered for the special occasion I informed them about.
Luckily, this weekday lunch saw the Aviary almost empty, so it was peaceful, allowing me to enjoy the views, drinks, food, ambience - everything.
Slow service and very mediocre food for the price. Disappointing.
I booked this as a special occasion for my partners birthday and we loved every minute, the food was great the drink before dinner great with beautiful views on rooftop. And although service was great we felt that we were waiting between courses a little longer than expected. However overall lovely evening and would recommend to anyone have even looked into christmas day as this looks like would be great. Thank you aviary.
Visited whilst staying in the hotel it sits on top of with my partner at 9pm Friday night, atmosphere was lively with live dj playing which we liked. The restaurant had an amazing panoramic view of the city and a rooftop terrace seating area which we were unfortunately unable to make use of due to heavy rain.
Service was exceptional and the staff were very friendly and knowledgable about the menu. I had the burger which was definitely among the best I’ve eaten, the sesame onion rings it came with were to die for!
My partner had the sea bass and duck fat chips which he also loved and said he would definitely get again.
Special mention for the ‘knicker bocker’ cocktail which was very refreshing and came with toasted marshmallows on a skewer!
Overall we had an outstanding dining experience and would definitely revisit when back in London
Great venue, fab service & lovely food. Will definitely be returning. Recommend for after work / pre-dinner cocktails as well as dinner itself.
Very nice place although it was freezing cold in there! Looking forward to holding our Christmas dinner theee later this year!
The plaice was delicious.
Aviary is a gorgeous looking restaurant, but service could be slow at times.
My guest ordered well but my Tuna Nicoise arrived with no dressing. On request the staff advised they had no salad dressing at all, and no balsamic vinegar either. As a result the salad (which was heavy on leaves) was most unenjoyable
Expensive but worth trying as the food is good and the ambience/set up is very charming. Service was to notch with persons trying to make you happy and very friendly
Our meal was a special occasion gift. We would not have considered this venue normally but it was enjoyable.
Great rooftop terrace and lovely atmosphere. The food is delicious also. The only reason I marked it down a little was they forgot our dessert. but when we told them it came very quickly and we were not charged for it so it was fine.
Great view, lovely atmosphere, however very mediocre food.
Food was very very good and reasonably priced although you do have to pay extra for the sides which seems normal these days.
An excellent wine list but none reasonably priced.
Overall a good and impressive venue and I will take other clients there.
Food was lovely. Service was great. Views were amazing. Host went above and beyond and also had great camera skills.
Excellent experience, high end but not obnoxious or ostentatious; very trendy
a great fancy restaurant that has reasonably priced food. great location, interior, rooftop bar, menu- will be back!
Absolutely outstanding quality. The food was undeniably amazing - the truffle gravy was an excellent accompaniment for my perfectly cooked steak and the seared yellowtail tuna was a crescendo of colourful flavours. And hats of to the bar staff, waiters and waitresses, who made our night the best it could have been.
