Paneer Makhani Meal
Green chickpea chaat, paneer makhani, 1 piece of naan (plain or butter), basmati rice, vermicelli kheer
Paneer Pinwheel Makhani
Best contemporary Indian I’ve had In NYC.
Excellent experience from drinks to apps to mains and to dessert.. definitely will be back soon!!!
Love their food n drinks. Go frequently!!!
Will absolutely be returning! The outdoor seating was amazing and the service was fantastic.
We waited 20 minutes past our reservation time to be seated, the maitre’d had to be asked what the wait was about and we had to suggest that we get a drink or appetizer while we waited. They gave us two little puffs that were delicious but again, we had to request them while waiting. Our table was great but loads of crumbs/food on our seats which we ended up wiping away. The food, as always, was terrific but my drink was a huge disappointment. The cocktail was listed as having tequila in it and for some bizarre reason the bartender made it with mezcal, it was disgusting. No apology from the waiter, who seemed like he didn’t particularly care. The replacement drink was totally different from the first and did not taste anything like what we’ve ordered in the past when we’ve gotten the same drink (we’ve been to Baar Baar 4 times). I left nearly all of it and was charged. I’m thrilled that Baar Baar has retained its popularity but their bartending and all overall service were far less than what we’ve experienced in the past.
Amazing food. Our waitress was a delight. Will be coming back!
It was great. Huge outdoor space and delicious food for a reasonable price.
Not a place to go to Baar Baar.
Bad Indian food. Cold and stale.
It was nice. Fast service
amazing food, great service, would go there again in a second!
This was one of the best meals I have had in New York.
I enjoyed their menu before Covid, they had some amazing dish. It still has good food but the quality of some of the things in food has dropped since February.
After taking 45 minutes to bring us our entrees after appetizers with few other tables that needed attending to, we noticed our carafe of water had a lipstick stain on it. Unfortunately, we noticed after we had drank most of it. The manager wiped it off and refused to admit it was a lipstick stain but admitted that there was something there. Didn’t apologize for the lack of cleanliness which we found incredibly rude considering our hesitation to go to restaurants at all during the pandemic. Did not appreciate this as I’m pretty sure the owner and her friends were going to the bar area where the carafes were stored to drink directly out of the carafes meant for the restaurants customers.
A really great place to try Indian food expressed in a unique and modern way. For example the lamb keema is a spicy lamb spread that goes perfectly on the rich fluffy bread it’s served with. A great choice for people who don’t usually like lamb. Chicken 65 is a must try; perfectly crisp and lightly spicy. Recommend sharing a few plates for the table.
Everything from the food to the service was incredible. The Seabass was my favorite but really every dish was a delight. I can’t wait to try Chef Sujin’s other restaurant, Rooh next!
Horrible food. No spice. Ate tomato paste
Server and food was so great!
Amazing food. Outdoor seating worked great even in the rain.
We got there for a 6pm dinner reservation to sit on the side of the restaurant near the privacy hedges. It was still pretty quiet there so I made an early reservation because I know exactly how busy they get from getting consistent take out from them.
Food, as expected, was PHENOMENAL. my boyfriend and I got drinks, I got the Amrud which is a guava cocktail with chili and he got a scotch. Our appetizer was the Potato tikki with fried kale and omg I wish I could eat that every day!
Our dinner was paneer and butter chicken. My boyfriend doesn’t like spicy food so they did their best to make it mild and suggest mild options to him.
Flavor of the food was amazing and his chicken was extremely tender.
Our server was kind and prompt.
Will be eating here forever— till death do us part.
Baar Baar does outdoor dining wonderfully! The food is as excellent as ever, the staff as lovely as ever and the seating well spaced.
The brunch at Baar Baar is very good with $5 brunch cocktails. There is nice outdoor seating under the shade (a tent) and there were plenty of options on the menu. The staff were very nice and the food was delicious.
Amazing food, great welcoming staff, great cocktails
First dinner out since the pandemic. The restaurant staff was very helpful, accommodating and friendly and made it a great dining experience overall.
Made reservations on Opentable 2 hours prior to dining. Beautiful building and although no indoor dining, the indoor ambiance was modern, sleek & sexy! Lots of social distancing, staff wearing masks? Constant cleaning and overall clean premises. Staff was very friendly upon arrival and throughout the dining. Plenty of patio dining for a cool NYC summer evening. Immediately, you can smell the aromas of the food, and we knew the food was about to be fire! We ordered the following: (large plates) vegetable biryani, butter chicken, prawn curry, (small plate) cauliflower, rice & cheese naan. Our server (Mona) recommenced half of our entrees and boy, was she the expert! The food arrived promptly, fantastic presentation, you can smell the butter from both the butter chicken and the naan (heaven), and the prawn curry sauce had a hint of coconut which was delicious! I ate so much I forgot about dessert and unfortunately didn’t have room. We also ordered the cocktails: kairi mule and sour (what beautiful cocktails) with great taste! Absolutely loved it here!
Excellent interpretation of Indian food.
good ambiance, mediocre food
Definitely returning for brunch. Did the no alcohol pre-fixe and the drinks were great - didn't expect that. Sat at the beautiful bar and the bartender was great. I thought the music was a bit too loud and they had a lot of sound difficulties but otherwise it's a great place and I'll be back.
We have been here before about 2 years ago, so this review will be based on these two experiences. Service and ambience were great. Food was not as solid as our previous experience. While the variety of flavors were well balanced, the portions were smaller and the attention to detail was missing. Cheese and jalapeño naan was way too spicy and the replacement dish was bland and scanty. The menu continues to offer creative gourmet Indian food, so we may have had a bad night. We will give it another chance.
Excellent flavors, an interesting cocktail and wine list, and eager-to-please servers made for an very enjoyable dinner.
Great ambience and very modern! Cute place! Servers were very attentive since we had the first slot brunch reservation. Servers shouldn’t wipe down the table if one person is still eating. Food is great with a twist. Small portions for the price, but I guess you pay for the experience.
Visited for Dinner.
Overrated. Nothing amazing. Too much noise. Not for family dining.
Food was tasty but very expensive. Between the table space is too tight.
Valentine’s Day is a special occasion for couples and Baar baar crammed all the couples in one area so close we were able to hear the conversations of the other couples.
The food quantity was really bad they only gave two pieces of naans and a little rice for two big pots of curry.
The overall experience was so bad I won’t ever recommend it to anyone else ever because they charge so much and the ambiance and the food quantity is not nearly good infact it’s really bad.
I have been to baar baar several times for brunches and it was good and the pricing was good too. But I took my girlfriend for the first time on the valentines days and this is what she experienced.
She literally said Baar Baar is officially out of the list.
This doesn’t bode well for an elite Indian cusine restaurant.
I had a VERY VERY VERY bad experience for that amount of money.
Excellent Waiter- friendly, respectful and efficient. excellent service, live musician, ambiance and food! Loved our experience!
This is an excellent restaurant. Not a typical Indian restaurant as the menu options are unique and lively. (Indian Bistro)
We started our night with one of the great cocktails (Would recommend the cocktail that is a slightly fruitier Bloody Mary - Has some Guava juice).
Cannot go wrong with any of the food choices. We decided to share all our choices so we got to test all the various dishes and flavor's.
My favorite was the Butter Chicken, Lamb Keema, and Sea Bass.
We went on a Saturday (which was lively), but not claustrophic, as the ceilings are high.
The food was great and our server Salman was amazing. Very hospitable and super attentive.
The innovative menu was great; would love more vegetarian options.
Food was not tasty as I thought, bland and restaurant ran out of goat biryani and haleem. Prices were expensive for small tasteless dishes, we spent over $900 on food no drinks and walked out of there still hungry.
Felt more like a club then a restaurant. Food and Service were fine but don’t think I would return
