BABA - Edinburgh
Mezze, charcoal grill and cocktail bar inspired by the flavours of the Levant.
We are looking forward to serving you.
zhug and crème fraîche
pomegranate and mint
ras-el-hanout, tahini and rose
Disappointed with Baba last night. Beer I ordered not available, monkfish I ordered not available. Chose cod and asked if it came with potatoes. It was I was told but it didn’t! Service not particularly attentive or friendly but staff might have been stretched. Inconspicuous and easy to miss in the bill was a 10% Service Charge; sort of OK but in larger lettering was a Gratuity Option!
Incredible food and lovely atmosphere - one of the best meals I've ever had. A must go in Edinburgh!
Server got our order wrong after we repeated it to her 2x.
Drinks were strained and not on rocks as requested.
Good tasty however.
Very poor service- asked to clear our plates when we were still clearly eating. Warm white wine when told the waitress she gave us ice!
Mackerel so salty it was inedible.
In fir 45 mins and a very poor experience
Very nice atmosphere. delicious food, very good wine. very good service.
The food is delicious at Babas, great choices and flavours
Catching up with friends following a hiatus of 2 years thanks to the pandemic. We are all different ages, so finding somewhere that has the right atmosphere and offers food choices for everyone is not always easy. However Baba more than enough fulfils all that. Great choices on the menu, wonderful venue and a lovely bar so we could carry on catching up after our meal. Staff were helpful and attentive.
It made for a wonderful evening. We all said we would be booking for our next catch up, which will hopefully not be 2 yrs later!
Place was very nice, food was tasty and staff was very friendly
Really good food. The lamb was delicious as was the pea houmous. Probably my favourites of the many dishes we tried. Great place for vegetarians. Lots of delicious vegetables options
Good service and interesting food although i dont like the inclusion of a 10% service charge. It should be my choice to leave a tip based on my experience of the service not the restaurant making the decision for me.
Asked to be seated in a specific room when I booked 4 weeks ago, but request wasn’t honoured and we were seated at probably the worst table next to kitchen, reception and entrance. I asked about and changing and it was an improvement but not the original request.
Training required for staff both on mask wearing and carrying and serving drinks.
This is my second visit where drinks either completely dropped or half thrown at me.
Use of masks by staff was ad hoc and in some cases just laughable as chin nets.
Really don’t fancy going back, despite the tasty food.
Absolutely amazing food. The flavours are amazing!
Lovely tasty food, good service. loved the cauliflower fritters!
Food was incredible, excellent value and absolutely delicious. The cauliflower fritters and Babaghanoush were a particular highlight!
Fantastic food with one problem.
My Wife ordered the pork and asked if the sauce was spicy, she was told that it wasn’t.
The sauce was in fact very spicy, not a problem for me but it ruined the whole dish for her.
It’s a shame as it spoiled the whole meal for her as she also found the sauce on the sweet potatoes a bit too spicy for her.
First time eating at Baba and it was fantastic, food delicious with lots of interesting dishes. We are planning our return already.
Food was fantastic. There was a dog with diners which was surprising but it also barked a lot which did not make for a pleasant dining experience as it should have been.
We were a party of four, dining at BABA for the first time, and were really impressed. All the food was delicious: fresh, full of flavour, evocative of the Lebanese tradition. The service was fabulous, too, efficient and friendly. The music was a tad loud for us but after the isolation of lockdown we all enjoyed the lively ambience. Will definitely return.
Had a great meal and the staff were great!
Perfect, healthy, flavorful, inspired…flawless…
Nice food. Small plates but filling. Stylish decor.
We enjoyed an excellent Dinner! The Food and Drinks were very good! Highly recommended!
Food was fantastic. Service was excellent. We had lovely bottle of Rose wine. I cannot wait to go back
Wow what a fab eve for husbands birthday. Food superb. Service excellent. Ask to go in turquoise dining room - simply stunning
Highly recommend, food was amazing. Atmosphere and design of the restaurant was lovely. Good choice of wine & their own personal swing on cocktails, but able to make most of what you ask. Lovely separate bar area if you are not interest in eating.
Very reasonable for the quality of food.
Thank you for a wonderful meal, everything was absolutely terrific. From the cocktails to the beautiful venue we loved every part of our visit and have booked in for our annual Edinburgh Christmas shopping trip.
Have the haggis merguez yum
Amazing food, been here a few times now and never disappointed. Friendly staff.
Delicious food in a cosy but vibrant setting. The service is fantastic, the staff are really helpful - especially when it's hard to choose between all the amazing dishes! Would absolutely recommend to anyone visiting.
Excellent service and delicious food. We will be back!
We really enjoyed our meal (a late lunch) a particular highlight was the labneh and the whole sea bass. I would say that it can get quite expensive once you add delicious sides and mezze but the quality of the food is excellent so we felt it was worth the cost.
Great selection, lovely small fish style eating and all dishes we got were delicious!
First off the food is amazing. No issues there, menu well explained by staff and came in good time.
However this restaurant lets itself down badly with seating. I booked online and asked for the best available table, when we got there we were sat in a thoroughfare room off the main restaurant. The seats were soft so it was like I was sitting on the floor and we were up against a solid wall to my immediate right which turned out to be the kitchen.
With spaces throughout we identified another table and asked to sit there. This had to be checked. Then is was deemed permissible!
We were still however in an area where the hotel guest came and went as this restaurant is within a hotel complex. We saw guests in robes walking by from the spa, a group of golfers with clubs walked past our table to return to their room and various other comings and goings. When they have a specific restaurant with empty tables this was all unnecessary and a bit weird!
We didnt get their best available table and my advice when booking here is to specify you want to eat in the restaurant, not the foyer area. The food was exceptional though but the wine extremely pricey even for faux Edinburgh prices (£9.10) for a small Malborough SB for example is extortionate.
We would eat there again but only if i was certain we would be in the main restaurant area.
Fantastic - great host and waitress from Australia
Will be back
Amazing food, each dish was fantastic. A real explosion of flavours.
Great food, friendly staff, good service and very reasonably priced.
First visit, will definitely be back.
The food was amazing!
Fantastic place to eat. Love the decor and library and being dog friendly was a huge bonus. Food was out of this world. Will be back
Delicious food. Service staff not particularly engaged.
Really great food, 36 £ pp including tip for three dishes each shared between five plus a bottle of wine and multiple beers
