Although we really enjoyed it - a few of us have been back in Oct when it was a different deal which was much better. You don't get half as much food with the new deal and it costs more. Our bill came which was completely wrong so thankfully we had checked it first. I would still go back for drinks but overall I was disappointed with the brunch.

Visited with two friends on a Friday night. Very quiet when we arrived but then got very busy, hence the deterioration in service I imagine (though not to an alarming extent). The food and wine were lovely and good value considering the location. Lovely interior too. Would definitely go again.

My husband and I visited the restaurant on Wednesday 17th July. The service was good, the food was good and the house red was good! I was a little bit disappointed that we could only choose from a light lunch menu. I thought there was a set menu available, but the choice was still good. It was a beautifully decorated dining room and it had interesting features around the theme of Wind in the Willows. The music was too loud though.

The only reason we visited was for a lovely meal out in our last evening in Edinburgh. As this was a Sunday we went for somewhere selling a Sunday roast. Unfortunately as soon as we were seated (we arrived 5mins early and table was being setup for us) we were told the Sunday roast had sold out aswell as the lamb. Now there isn't a huge choice to begin with so to be told those 2 options are sold out on a Sunday evening didn't leave much left to chose from. I'd expect the roast as a minimum to be available on Sundays, especially as we overheard them turning away people as they were fully booked - if you know how many people are coming you know how much you need to prepare....

The food we did have was very good (steak and pie). We would love to return but would be unsure we'd be disappointed again.

Great food and cocktails - delicious lobster roll special! Loved the Badger & Edinburgh Gin branding. Attentive and friendly staff. Perfect for a girly lunch.

We loved this place - great atmosphere, staff, background music and choice of drinks and cocktails. Tried bar snacks one night and a full meal the other. Food was good apart from fish batter was on the burnt side so that was a bit disappointing. Even so, would definitely go back when next in Edinburgh.

Cocktails, charcuterie board, and service were all great. I ordered a steak medium rare and it was so overdone I couldn’t event cut one half of it that was completely charred and black. It seemed like a mistake that they would even bring it to the table looking like that.

Food was interesting but not spectacular. Our reservation was at 8pm, we were seated on time and ordered at 8.15pm. But our appetisers only arrived at 8.50pm. And our main came at 9.30pm. Looking around, a lot of tables were also waiting for food. Service isn't bad, but OMG the kitchen is really slow. Drinks were nice though.

Service was poor- the server we had earlier in the meal disappeared then when we went to pay the bill we were told rudely by him to go to the bar, the server behind the bar was eating when we went to settle the bill. The toast was burnt on my main as well.

The setting in the restaurant is lovely, with really comfortable and plush seating and interesting decor. We were spoilt for choice with the gin menu and the waitress was well informed to make recommendations. We all went for the roast since it was Sunday lunchtime. The roast set menu also included a pudding and was excellent value at under £16.00. Although there was only beef on offer, we were more than happy with this and it was a perfectly cooked medium rare - this came with the usual accompaniments topped with a mighty Yorkshire pud! This was then followed by sticky toffee pudding with ice cream which was delicious, although we would probably have liked a couple of choices of dessert; However this limited choice probably allowed the set menu roast to be such excellent value.

We weren’t rushed by staff to finish our meal and were able to relax and enjoy the great food, the cocktail gins and the general setting. The restaurant really does have quite a special ambience and we will certainly return when we next come back to Edinburgh. Highly recommended!

Loved the brunch board. Great value for money. £25 each for lots of food and 4 drinks each! Good choice of drinks. The passion fruit mimosa is the perfect accompaniment.
Only down side was a large booking that were quite noisy and stood talking right next to our table.

What a great little gem of a place. The staff are welcoming and friendly and more importantly you really feel like they enjoy their work which only adds to the positive experience. The food was fab and there is something for everyone on the menu and they gave us a great table by the window which was private and cosy. The only thing I would change if I could would be the music...a little too loud and for my feeling not relaxing enough to compliment the surroundings. But seriously that was the only slight thing I would improve ...for the rest we really really enjoyed our evening there!

We stumbled upon Badger while wandering down Rose street and taking a turn on Castle. It is an excellent restaurant. We started with the braised beef shin sausage roll, very tasty. I had lamb, my husband had steak and my daughter had gnocchi. We all were happy. Cocktails are expertly prepared. Atmosphere is comfortable and service is warm. Highly recommend.

Delicious food ! Would give them 5 star just on food alone.
Was not impressed with the time it took to be seated and the time it took before we were asked for drinks or food order.
However, we did not have to wait long for the food to arrive and we were so happy with the food, the rest were forgiven.
I would go there again :)

We enjoyed the food very much. Service was ok but not great. My error was not reading up on what black pudding is before taking a bite 😂. The Cullen pie and Hake were fantastic. The scallops were OK. The pea salad was not our taste. I observed the onion rings at another table and wished we had selected an order. The Badger Tea dessert was interesting... great over all experience in the heart of new town.

We ordered steak and the meat was rather tough and not great quality for the price, plus the knives were really dull. However, our appetizers, drinks, and the rest of our dishes were very good, the fries were some of the best I've ever had. Our waitress was fairly attentive until she cleared our dinner dishes and we asked for the dessert menu, as she never brought it and we then sat there for 15 minutes without anyone checking on us to see if we needed anything. My mother eventually had to flag someone down to actually bring the dessert menu and only then were we told that the one dessert my mother was interested in took half an hour to make. I appreciated their dedication to using local meats and produce, but overall the whole experience was disappointing after being ignored by the waitresses.

We did arrive a little late and maybe used to a New York service speed but with limited time the service was slower than an asthmatic snail, it certainly could be a lot lot quicker. The sever was nice and pleasant but not sure how it took so long, the place wasn’t half full.

The food was not bad but the BLT was open face with once slice of toast. I am sorry but a sandwich needs two slices, how can you eat chicken, tomatoe, bacon and lettuce with one slice. No Bueno - not a sandwich.
