lovely, however my venison tasted more like beef ( very nice beef that I thoroughly enjoyed )
A bit chaotic - seemed to be only one server and lots of items on the small menu weren’t available, but atmosphere was great, seating was so comfy and food was nice.
Great food and lovely atmosphere, waiting staff very attentive and didn’t have to wait too long for food.
Nice relaxing atmosphere with good food and friendly staff.
First visit and was very impressed. Food excellent and good value for money. Will definitely visit again.
Brilliant venue just off George street often overlooked amazing food
Yes would recommend Badger & Co but was disappointed with the ladies toilets. We felt they definitely weren't checked/cleaned on a regular basis.
Had the boozy brunch which was amazing value with 4 drinks included. Food was lovely, great choice of drinks included in the price - prosecco, cocktails etc. The service was great and very friendly and the atmosphere was cosy with ambient background music and lighting. Will be back asap. My personal preference would be for a little more savoury and fewer sweet items but it's in no way a complaint. It was all delicious
Initially service was good then they seemed to forget about our table. Appreciate staff were busy but perhaps an extra pair of hands required?
Food was generally good and the January sale deal was great value for money. The one thing that let it down was the Burger I had for my main course. Dry, overcooked and the bun was burnt. One of the worst burgers I’ve eaten. I will return as everyone else in my party enjoyed their food but won’t order the burger again.
Great place, although quiet on our night. Very nicely decorated, great music for a date night with the meal. Service was quick and attentive.
Amazing as always!
Great food, good service, lovely ambience.
All helped with the 50%January Sale, and a cocktail to carry on with Wet January!
As always the food is exceptional - I can thoroughly recommend the fish and chips.
Service is by friendly staff and we weren't rushed away from our table therefore stayed for a few more drinks and coffee
I read that the fish and chips were extra light and crispy. I found that to be the case.
Had a bite to eat here with my girlfriend, nice vibe and lovely food, would go again and definitely recommend the venison.
Fabulous food and drink. Great stuff. Thoroughly recommended
We’ve been here loads and food use to be fabulous ! Service is always good ! Child friendly comfy seating but food is a hit or a miss and on Hogmanay we requested halloumi fries at 12.30 lunchtime and told none left .. I’m sure they’ve been busy wish Christmas etc but felt it was poor show . Also ladies toilets are looking shabby and one of them has had a faulty lock since spring now won’t lock at all . I’m hoping this is a blip and will go back to how it was 2 years ago a little gem just of princes street with beautiful plays on wind in the willows
Starters were pathetic - 7 diminutive mussels. I have had more served in a 2 Michelin star restaurant yet alone a cheapish bar style casual dining restaurant. Bread was stale - no excuse in this day and age to have such bad bread. Venison was decent but the potatoes just uncooked. Lamb raw... again now ‘pink’, raw. It was left. Service and staff perfectly pleasant. Having spoken to some locals and it seems this wasn’t a surprise as the venue has apparently gone down hill.
What a great little gem in central Edinburgh. Great atmosphere and good menu options. Good for kids and delish food
We had lunch with friends at this restaurant between Christmas and New Year. I'm sorry to report that the service, whilst friendly and efficient when it existed, was extremely slow and we were largely abandoned for long periods. Three meals were fair but one of our friends had to send her Ploughman's Sandwich back. I would not recommend if this is typical.
Everything excellent but music selection and particularly volume during dining was intrusive
Boozy Brunch was fab. Lovely treat with my mum. Great value for money, beautiful relaxing surroundings & very good cocktails. Staff were all lovely and gave you space too, which always adds to the experience. Will definitely be back. Highly recommended!
Tough gig on boxing day but they did a great job when probably short staffed. I wasn't sure what to expect when I walked in. The place is clean and pleasant but has the they look of somewhere that is hoping to be a chain in waiting. However all these thoughts were sent to the wind when I received the best battered fish I can remember. I hope it is as good for you.
Food was nothing memorable. We came on Boxing Day. I ordered the venison, which had raving reviews, and my son got the Sunday Roast.
The venison was chewy and quite bland. The best flavor came from the kale bathed in the sauce.
The Sunday Roast was... just a lot of meat. Very bland. It felt like eating a lot of meat with no joy. The best flavor came from the bread pudding. There was a ton of meat and my son and I are both big meat eaters but it felt like a chore for finish the food on our plates.
Now the service. I noticed the server for the other tables next to us came more frequently so check on his customers than our server did on us. I watched him from my seat spending a lot of time chatting with the other staff at the register. Took us a while to order our food. Took me a while to get his attention to order my second glass of wine. Once I ordered it, took me a while to get it (almost gave up) while I watched him hanging out at the register not checking on me or my wine order.
Food was edible. The entire dinner lasted over an hour with mostly waiting just for the two of us, for a 3 course meal, in a half empty restaurant. As a foodie, did I say "wow that was an amazing meal"? Certainly not. Rather "glad we finished that £30 meal".
Will not be coming back. There are plenty other restaurants in Edinburgh that would have me leave with a pleasant memory as a foodie of the world.
I was really disappointed with the food that we received. It was cold and undercooked.
Really lovely, festive atmosphere and they managed to give us a larger table even though I’d managed to mess up the booking (my fault). Service is attentive but not overwhelming. My meal was lovely and the cocktails are delicious.
The cocktails were lovely, restaurant and atmosphere were also lovely. The food was good and reasonably priced but we felt our server was a little abrupt and unfriendly. A smile and a more polite manner would have made our Christmas lunch more enjoyable!
Amazing food, really generous portions, lovely peaceful restaurant, staff were so friendly and helpful! I’d love to go back!
There was a group who were VERY Merry which I can appreciate is out of your control, however when the bar is so close to the dining room it really does effect the ambiance. To be honest once we were sat I wanted to leave as we were unable to be reseated unless we wanted to go into the bar which has the giant TV screen (despite other tables for 2 being free. We were told we were not able to be reseated as they were booked - we had also reserved our table to celebrate our engagement and I am not prepared to spend about £80 to eat in front of the TV) Luckily the loud group moved on at their own accord. Other than that the food was amazing and can’t be faulted. Otherwise service was fine but nothing special.
Good meal and surroundings but a little busy and cramped
I haven’t been for a while and food choice was more limited than I remember. Food quality and service was poor. Ordered a simple ploughman’s sandwich - bread was warm and soggy, cheese was also warm, but not in a nice toasted way. Strange grated carrot on side - not a salad, not a coleslaw. Overall, looked like a very sad sandwich for £9. Drink order got lost and service slow. So many places to pick from in Edinburgh - only reason to go is for the lovely decor and ambience.
Fantastic staff! A great team and energy would definitely recommend
Amazing service and cool atmosphere! Our steaks were cooked perfectly (just need a little more salt/flavor).
Badger & Co has a lovely ambiance, and the service was very good. The lunch menu is very limited especially if you do not want a posh sandwich. I was meeting a girlfriend for a Xmas catch up, i had booked, yet we were sat surrounded by an office Christmas party, when there were seats available in another area area were we would have not been intruding on the office party speeches.
It would be nice to get the dinner menu a little earlier but still lovely. Love the cocktail choices.
Beautiful interior, great ambience will upbeat music, attentive friendly staff and the food was of a really high standard - would definitely come back again.
Xmas boozy brunch platter was amazing! Good value for money with 4 drinks/cocktails.
The food was good and lovely surroundings but the music and noise was so loud we couldn’t hear each other. The waiting staff were over loaded and a bit sharp at times.
Half of our meals were great, the other half terrible. Worst burger and mac and cheese Iver ever had - amazing Lamb and Scallops.
Badger & co,
Cannot fault the food and service it was Spot on! The atmosphere and general mood of the place just topped it. Highly recommend!
