Bakers Bar & Kitchen
Kitchen & Locally Sourced
Wherever possible, our head chef, John Atkins, uses local ingredients and suppliers including coffee and gin, as well as making our own breads and doughs. With ties to the Powder Monkey Brewing Co, we also stock beers from this local business who are bringing a new brewing experience to Gosport. We’re always keen to talk to other local suppliers, so please get in touch. Our menus offer a great range from tapas to enjoy with a pint, through to burgers, pizza’s, fish dishes and salads. Sunday roasts with all the trimmings feature too.

Went here to celebrate my Dad's birthday. Service couldn't be faulted - food was delicious and perfectly cooked. Cosy atmosphere and lovely and warm - which considered the size of the same was a lovely surprise.
Would definitely recommend. Thank you.
Overall - very nice. However, one of our party had hearing aids and music was too loud and spoiled his experience. Plates cold and food not hot - just warm. Real shame as food was very tasty. Lovely servers.
Lovely atmosphere. Great building. Great location. Food was good & good value, but it was the staff & atmosphere which make this place.
First time visit. Lovely place, good food and friendly atmosphere. Even had our 7 week old grandson with us. Plenty of space for the pushchair.
We visited on 10th nov 2021 , we had an amazing evening , food was wonderful , Sam T was the best waiter , The venue was friendly and very inviting , all 3 of us enjoyed the evening so thank you 😊. We will be back very soon
The venue is good and the service was excellent!
Very nice Sunday lunch and good service. Nice surroundings. Would definitely recommend
The starter was very good (fish platter) but the main course my wife ordered did not contain any of the veg listed on the menu. And the chef apparently was unaware of what veg accompanied the chicken supreme dish.
Very good, excellent building, food and drinks good
What a beautiful place to eat. Delicious food in a wonderful setting
Bit disappointed on this visit the meal wasn't up to its normal high standards
Coffee service was slow and drinks were cold on arrival.
We were mislead into thinking it was happy hour and it was not
Overall not impressed, we have been before and it was excellent
Very disapointed as we were treating guests
The lunch menu was quite limited and some items were not available but the waitress was very good in explaining what was available
Sunday Roast was exceptional and very well priced. Staff are lovely and the Ale is 👌
Great food and atmosphere. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. Great value for money.
I love this place. Great location, great building and excellent staff, service and food. Highly recommended
We ate here on Friday evening, I was very excited to see a Seafood Pizza on the menu & it didn't disapoint, it was so tasty. My friends had the daily special which was a Seafood Pasta dish & they loved theirs too. Will definitely be back.
Very nice place for a drink and food.
Good food and very good service.
Will definitely visit again in the near future.
Happy hour from 4/6pm
Food great. Service great. Two big parties, noise levels meant that we could not hear each other speak. But this is not a fault of Bakers. Waitress Tegan was lovely and did all she could to make our anniversary special
Food was delicious and came out hot. We ordered drinks and our meal came out before our drinks. They forgot outlets order twice. But the staff were very friendly. Not busy in there when we went, so need to be more alert to the tables order's. Enjoyed our evening and would definitely go back again.
Visited Sunday 26th September, had a table booked for 6pm but got that a little earlier to take advantage of their advertised 50% drinks. We ordered one round of drinks which were part of the deal, when the waitress came to ask if we wanted more drinks before the deal finished we naturally said yes. However both the drinks my partner and I wanted were no longer available so the waitress offered us alternative choices. Disappointingly we were failed to be informed that the alternative drinks weren't part of the deal. We subsequently ordered a third round yet again not being informed out alternative choices weren't part of the deal.
I appreciate companies are having supply difficulties however if you are offering deals such as 50%off it should be made aware to you that the alternatives you are given are NOT part of the offer.
We have been to Bakers Bar numerous times but this visit left us both feeling rather frustrated and disappointed by the lack of communication from staff.
Great food and service thanks to the waitresses Molly and the other nice young lady who’s name we cannot remember we always have a good time at Baker’s
Fantastic service, was very disappointed that they don't do there Sunday roast anymore. That was the reason I booked
Hi Charlotte, i'm sorry that you thought Sunday roasts were back on at the time of your visit, we took them off throughout the summer and they returned at the end of September. I'm glad you enjoyed the service though and hopefully we will see you again soon. Kat
Bit pricey for a breakfast, but the food was amazing. Cannot judge the "vibe" as we went very early on a Sunday, so didn't expect to see anyone there.
I'm a regular to Bakers Bar. Sitting on the decking overlooking the boats and water is just like being on holiday in the Med. On top of that the food is good and the staff are always friendly and willing to help. I also like the fact they welcome dogs. This lunch visit was to watch the aircraft carrier leaving - fantastic location for it.
Sat outside and also downstairs for drinks and ate upstairs which was great. Good atmosphere
Great ambience and food. A really super evening and a great place to meet friends. Service just a little slow.
Great food, and lovely staff, the wait was a little long but worth it for the quality of the food. We went at 1pm so was pretty quiet.
A great venue to chat, drink and watch sport. The food we had (bar tapas style snacks) were great too. Staff were attentive and friendly.
The main course was very average.
The chocolate brownie was extre, ely tiny and very poor value for money, no more than three mouthfuls! So much so that this was removed from our bill.
But the worst part was the service, the staff are very poorly trained, unattentive and very little knowledge of the menu they are serving.
It may be a personal thing but I object to being addressed as "you guys" and called "my lovely"
Overall a huge disappointment for our first visit.
Good food and service at a good price.
Fantastic restored old building
Thank you for your review, we are so pleased you enjoyed your visit and look forward to welcoming you back again soon :) Many thanks, Kate
Excellent food and atmosphere we enjoyed very much the hospitality extended
I brought my parents abs boyfriend here for a special meal and was sadly disappointed. The staff were lovely, however lack of staff meant very slow service, empty glasses filled up our table so we had to move them onto the next empty table, waited 20minutes for a drink and staff walked off very quickly before you could ask them something. However saying that they are lovely and very friendly, I believe lack of management. The staff are very accommodating and would have done anything to make our experience the best it could be.
The food unfortunately was very bland and also over done.
A lot on the menu had sold out, meaning we had less to choose from.
We ordered the sharing deli board and Camembert sharer but was then told it has sold out. We decided to replace it with king prawns and the garlic bread.
The garlic bread was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious, however we had to send the king prawns back due to the lack of presentation and appearance. The Alioli was pea size, sourdough burnt, prawns dry/undercooked and someone had tipped a bag of rocket over the top. Very disappointed with this.
The sharer board was nice but for the price of it wouldn’t order it again.
Our mains come out at the same time which was nice and was very hot. However the meat on all courses were over cooked and I felt my salmon had been reheated in the microwave.
I don’t want this review to sound all bad because the restaurant was lovely, the decor is beautiful and the staff made the place, just the food and lack of service let it down.
We decided to not have a pudding due to the disappointment in the last two courses and unfortunately wouldn’t come back again.
Dish of the day was nice but too much of same thing, (Cheese & pumpkin risotto)
Needed a side dish (maybe garlic bread) and definitely more and varied salad
Hi KennyT, thank you for your review, I'll pass on your comments to the kitchen but I'm pleased to hear you would recommend us and that ultimately you did enjoy your dish. We look forward to seeing you again soon, many thanks, Kate
Very good service and meal. Had trainee waier who looked after us vert well. Food was excellent, and home cooked. Strongly recommend.
Hi PeterJ, excellent to hear you were well looked after! I'm so pleased to hear you enjoyed your visit and look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Many thanks, Kate
Disappointed. On arrival the noise level was unbearable, we weren’t aware they had a sports bar showing live football. We ate upstairs, marginally quieter. Waited 20 minutes for our drinks. We did book, but had no idea that the upstairs eating area was accessed via a steep spiral metal staircase, so not suitable for anyone with a mobility disability. The food was ok, although one of our group was very disappointed in his steak. The staff were really nice and friendly, the main positive to the evening. I felt that the poor girl serving us was embarrassed that everything took so long to arrive.
HI JennyS, I'm sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with your visit. We are a sports bar and so do play sporting games live so our lovely patrons can watch/listen to them. I'm also sorry to hear about your friends steak - I will make sure to pass on your feedback to the kitchen, and I'll be sure to pass on timing issues to the staff. We always do our best and obviously want everyone who visits us to leave happy so hopefully on your next visit you'll enjoy your experience. Many thanks, Kate
Lovely venue, spacey, clean with a chilled ambience. The staff are really friendly and attentive and the portion sizes are very generous. Mussels were extremely tasty as was the garlic bread starter. Definitely worth a visit.
Hi LouiseC, thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review. I'm so pleased to hear you enjoyed your food, the service and Bakers as a whole. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon, many thanks, Kate
Great place to watch sports with friends, all areas can view the TV screens!
Hi Neke71, thank you for your review, I'm so pleased that you enjoyed your visit and found Bakers to be a great place to watch the game! We look forward to welcoming you back again soon, many thanks, Kate
Nicely cooked steak and chips, my husband had the chicken burger which was also tasty. Reasonable value for money and the service was very good despite them being extremely busy. Staff friendly and attentive.
Hi LouiseS, thank you for your lovely review. I'm so pleased to hear you enjoyed your visit and you found our lovely staff friendly and attentive. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Many thanks, Kate
Excellent service as always good food and a very clean environment
