A real beauty at the castle district, with a good atmosphere, the kindness of the service was absolutely wonderful!
I had the chicken and my friend had the ribs. Both excellently made. Would definitely be back.
Absolutely amazing Service, Staff and good.
So glad we went here, the ambience was spot on as was the service. Very attentive. The food ... wow!!! Just melts in your mouth and you can taste the freshness! Just amazing. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a very nice meal. Not cheap but I don’t think it’s too expensive either in comparison to that standard restaurant in London.
Servizio perfetto cortese e disponibile
We loved Baltazar so much, we at there twice on our Christmas vacation. We even had the exact same meal and wines and we never do that. We loved the atmosphere and all the unique Hungarian dishes on the menu and the wine list was quite extensive. We made a reservation both times since it was the holiday season, I am not sure that is always necessary. We were seated immediately. We had the Baltazar salad both times and I would highly recommend trying it. We also ordered the cheese board and the burger was amazing. Would definitely recommend and eat here again. Hopefully soon.
And a very good place un Buda
Have a lunch or a diner, we recommand it
Baltazár Budapest Grill is our favorite place to take guests when they are visiting. The staff is excellent, the food is great, and the ambiance is wonderful.
Food was well cooked and the ambiance was nice. Only negative comment is that we asked to be moved to another table but our request was declined since the place was fully booked (as they said) even though by the minute we left the place was not full.
Great vegan burger! Great bar area to have a drink before dinner too!
Very tasty food staff very friendly lots of choices on the menu
Nice friendly welcome into a warm environment. Excellent and attentive service. Fois Gras to start really good. Iberico Pork tasty but a bit chewy baby rack of ribs good.
All in all a nice experience albeit a bit on the pricey side for what we had.
Great location near the Austrian gate. The food was delicious and our waiter was wonderful. We especially like the chicken and goulash soups!
love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The Girll was amazing and the Paprika chicken was refreshing. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable."
Very good steak
Very nice restaurant, food good and the service excellent with friendly staff
Recommended by our son and booked a week or so before our visit.
Food was excellent accompanied by a very good bottle of red wine.
Service was excellent also and we enjoyed the whole experience.
Great food, great price, great service, nice place. What's not to like.
Treated absolutely royally in this historical castle district restaurant!
Great dinner, delicious soups, entrees and desserts. Very nice service.
This is a nice bistro but the food we had was mediocre. The burger was pink in the middle and this is against food hygiene requirements ( unlike a steak served rare/medium, burger meat has all been open to the elements and therefore requires cooking to kill off bacteria).
The restaurant was highly recommended, with good reason. The food was prepared expertly, with great seasoning and cooked to perfection.
Grossly overpriced tourist trap. Food adequate, service spotty. There are many better options in Budapest.
We had 2 lovely meals here whilst on holiday in Budapest. The food was delicious - beautifully cooked and presented. Would definitely recommend to others looking for a great meal in a lovely location.
Wonderful as always. Love the atmosphere, the food, the service. One of my favourite places in Budapest
Polite waiters, really good food and a beautiful atmosphere. I always go there when i'm in Budapest!
Try the RibEye Steak and Gulashsoup as a starter
Best dining experience for us in Budapest. We had the Mangalica Cheeks and Duck Breast entrees which were both outstanding. But the stars of the show were the Cucumber Salad with Sour Cream (best sour cream we have EVER had) and the 2012 Cabernet Franc (give it time in the glass - you will be rewarded). Really nice location, great waiter. Definitely recommended.
Great choice in the Castle District; the occasional boorish tourist with more money than manners excepted, the clientele is overall "tres gentile", paying homage to the more civilized social norm of a century ago. Not many locals on the many occasions I've been there, but those that do dine here are select members of the "hidden dining gem" club.
Cuisine is a mix of traditional Magyar comfort food (fall off the bone chicken paprikash) and noveau international (wonderful house salad with quinoa and avacado). Excellent daily specials (on the last visit we had tagliatelle with baby chantarelle 'shrooms and a Hungo risotto with mangalica pig cheeks) and a short but reasonable wine list make the food and drink choices no-brainers. Prices are not gyro-stall cheap but not stratospheric either, given the quality and location, on a quiet macskako-lined pedestrian setany not a hundred meters from the Viennese Gate (Becsi Kapu).
Multilingual staff is polite and professional and always ready with a smiling recommendation or response to a special request, a pleasant change from those two extremes commonly found around the Var: overly friendly ("hi my name is Jancsi and I'll be taking care of you tonight") or the overly pretentious ("you should consider yourself lucky to even be allowed in this hallowed mecca of fine dining".)
As a general rule I don't write reviews of mediocre restaurants, so I hope that tells you something about this one!
Nice restaurant but the waiters are a bit too 'pushy' to add as many items as possible to your bill...
The menu is "Goldilocks" all the way: Not too big, not too small, sized just right and executed very well. Balanced pretty evenly between traditional Hungarian cuisine (bone-in csirke paprikas) for the tourists who want it and are willing to pay hotel prices to get it, and more international dishes for those less adventurous (mongo cheeseburgers), Baltazar's macskako terrace is a wonderful venue for every occasion from a romantic dinner for two to a boisterous boys' night out. Just don't expect the former if you're seated next to the latter............:-)
The multilingual, polite and professional yet friendly staff only adds to the charm of this Castle District gem, so the next time you need good food and drink in the neighborhood, don't hesitate to mosey on over to the corner of Orszaghaz u. and Kapisztran ter. You won't be disappointed.
Wonderful location on Castle grounds. Host and waiter were wonderful. A bit costly but overall good food. Stick with main dishes and dessert.... skip appetizers/cold plates.
We initially booked this place for dinner but enjoyed the food so much we came back for breakfast the next day.
Service was great, staff very friendly and the interior of the restaurant is nicely designed.
We had a charcuterie board 'for two' to start with but I'd describe it as being much smaller than expected (though very nice).
That being said, the mains were generous and delicious. We ordered the Baltazar buger and chicken paprikash - the burger was huge! And the paprikash was well flavoured.
Breakfast was also fantastic - omelette and ham & eggs were both great (the smoked ham was especially flavourful).
Price-wise it's a bit more than elsewhere in Budapest but being in the castle district I would expect this - that being said it's still cheaper than what you'd pay in London, for comparison.
Went here on recommendation from hotel. So good we are going back for dinner. Great food and friendly staff. The duck confit and burgers are amazing.
Relaxed ambience with top class food
Endroit bien placé, joli. Choix varié et service sympathique.
I was visiting from the USA to see my son who is studying in Budapest. I took him and two friends out for dinner. This was located next to a boutique hotel, very small secluded restaurant with the most amazing food. Simple menu, and daily specials. I went with the Ribs. Full slab of baby back, incredibly flavor. The others had the ribeye and filet. All full of flavor. The truffle fries were delicious as well as the mashed potatoes. The potatoes could have been a shared side. Definitely a do over. Thoroughly enjoyed the food, decor and service to the highest rating.
The service, food quality, atmosphere are all a welcome addition to buda’s castle hill! Great job!
Food was very fine and very good wines for a very cool moment
Posto molto ben curato, location suggestiva a due passi dal castello a Buda, cibo eccellente, tipico ma modernizzato, prezzo decisamente adeguato
I already published my review on another site and it is very positive. Cozy and warm place with outstanding service and good food quality. Price is fair also for the premium location. Good wine choise as well. Recommendable.
